Ok, we leave on Sept 6. As you know, our dd is starting the DCP, so we're checking two bags each. Flying SW!
I called DME today and had a very interesting discussion with AnnMarie...terrific lady, by the way. She told me that they changed over to a giftware R system. Packets are supposed to go out 45 days prior to travel. If you need addtl tags, and you call after that 45 day window, your addtl tags will be sent out shortly thereafter.
But, if you call prior to that 45 day mark, as I did today, they send in the order for the addtl tags right then, and your entire packet gets sent out within a week! So, my 45 day window is July 26...my packet would have gone to the printer and sent out then. But, because I called prior to that 45 day mark, my addtl tags as well as my packet order was submitted today and I should have it in a week.
AnnMarie told me that some people don't want their packets too early...afraid they'll lose it I guess.
I thought it was interesting to get some insight into how they do things, and wanted to share with you all.
