OK, just tried to make DME reservation to pick us up at MCO at 12:18 am.
We made flight plans to arrive at 11:30 pm but Delta changed the flight so we get in after midnite.

We have ressie to check in at AKV on 3/27 but requested DME for 3/28 at 12:18 am. Today got email back from Disney that dates did not agree?

I emailed back out situation- we can be the first people to arrive after midnite.
I assume DME still picks up 24 hours a day but we have to get our luggage, correct?

Not really crazy about Delta missing with the flight time- it is exactly one hour later so I don't think we can ask for an earlier flight without incurring an extra fee.

Argh-:furious:

The legacy airlines (Delta, American, United) are usually pretty good about it when they make significant schedule changes and a passenger calls to request an alternate flight. The unpublished rule of thumb seems to be two hours, but arriving an hour later (after midnight) late at night seems worse than arriving two hours later during the day.

Call Delta Air Lines. Politely express your disappointment. Even though it's only one hour later, your arrival has been pushed to after midnight and thus to the next calendar day. The original arrival was already very late, but the new one is now unacceptably late. Request an arrival before midnight. Chances are that they'll have seats on an earlier flight or connection through Atlanta. There should be no change fee or fare difference because the change was due to a schedule change by the airline, not a change-of-plans by the passengers.

If the first agent won't help you, ask to be transferred to a supervisor. If the first agent claims to be a supervisor, ask for the next level.

Please let us know if Delta does the right thing.

As long as you have an existing reservation, you should have no issue using DME.
But, here is where the issue lies....you have a reservation at AKL for 3/27. Your flight arrival time would have had you with a very late checkin. Most likely actually on the 28th. So now...you actually arrive on the 28th, but your resort reservation is supposed to start on the 27th. So, Disney's system is finding it hard to figure out what the story is. As long as you have explained the strange situation to Disney, and they have noted it on your reservation, you should be fine.
I would actually call Disney and see what your reservation actually says. Then, wait and see what your DME packet says.

The constant changing of flights and times is the reason I try not to fly Delta...drives me nuts.

Before you call Delta, go online and find a flight that works for you. THEN call, tell them the time change doesn't work for you and ask if they can move you to flight 'xxxx'. If they say 'yes', make sure you confirm with them there's no additional cost.

Stay at the airport Hyatt that night and catch Dme in the a.m. You'll save a lot of money and aggravation

I just got off the phone with Delta & they were accomodating.
Now scheduled for earlier flight arriving around 10:30 pm.
Then sent message to DME with new flight time.
Problem solved. Thanks for encouragement.

Since we own DVC, booking the airport hotel would cost extra $$$. For spring break we are looking forward to waking up at our "home" resort.

Yay!

I'm glad the problem is solved. Three cheers for Delta.

Glad it worked out !! I have two flights coming up on Delta - one in two weeks and one mid March and I really need them to stay on schedule (not vacations)!! As stressful as SWA seating is Delta's scheule changes are worse IMHO.

I imagine that you used the form on the DVC site to request ME? If so, I did that too and got the same sort of response.

Our flight gets in at 12:14am on the 6th. Our reservation is on the 5th.

When I got that reply I simply could not help myself... Asked them if they would have been OK with me coming in at 12:14am on the 5th, when I would have no place to go until 6 or 7am when I could check in? If that made ANY more sense than checking in on the "hotel day" that I had booked.

It's just so goofy.

And, sadly, my snark didn't matter; we switched our villa reservation to the end of our stay. And when I booked POR in the villa's place and did an ME reservation online, it went through *just fine*.

There's something hinky about the DVC form, or the people answering.

It would be one thing if they just replied that they wanted to be sure...but the wording of their response *feels* insulting. Even though it's just a "canned" response.
