Due to certain organizational changes occuring at the Disneyland Resort, there are changes occuring with regards to the various Vending carts located throughout Disneyland Park.

Vending Carts located within Disneyland Park, selling the following:
  • Pretzels
  • Lemonade
  • Churros
  • Hot Food (Turkey Legs, Chimichangas, Corn)
  • Popcorn
  • Chillers (Slurpees/Icees)
are being outfitted with Cash Registers, and will begin accepting the following forms of payment:
  • Credit Card (as well as Debit Cards with the following brands)
    • VISA
    • MasterCard
    • American Express
    • Discover
    • Japan Credit Bureau (ジェーシービー)
    • China UnionPay (中国银联)
  • Disney Gift Card
  • Key to the Magic Card (Hotel of the Disneyland Resort Room Charge)
Carts and/or Cast Members selling the following:
  • Ice Cream
  • Cotton Candy/Frozen Lemonade/Kettle Corn
  • Breakfast Items (select days)
  • Balloons
  • "Glow" Items (light-up necklaces, swords, etc.)
will continue to only accept Cash in the form of U.S. Dollars.

In addition, most carts at Disney's California Adventure Park already have Cash Registers, and will not be changing their current situation.

I belong to another site and Glendalais posted what happened. The cash registers are part of the changes in how carts are being handled. Carts will still be maintained and stocked by ODV in a building separate from the Foods and Beverage department but all foods except stadium vending and ice cream will got to F&B in the area where the cart will be parked. This will move to F&B most if not all foods that are not prepackaged like Mickey Bars.

As I understand it, Outdoor Vending/Ventures will continue to have the following carts/positions under their direct control, and will stock them as well as supply ODV-statused Cashier Hosts/Hostess to them:

* Ice Cream
* Stadium Vending (Cotton Candy/Frozen Lemonade)
* Balloons
* Glow Carts

All other ODV locations, comprising the following:

* Pretzels
* Lemonade
* Churros
* Hot Food (Turkey Legs, Chimichangs, etc.)
* Popcorn
* Chiller (Slurpees)

will be transitioning to the control of Quick Service Restaurant Operations, being assigned to the QSR Location nearest to the cart. The Cashier Hosts/Hostesses at the carts will be deployed from their corresponding QSR Location.

Thanks, we try to not carry much cash, love the debit card.

Glendalais is a regular poster here and works at DLR but will be doing CP at WDW soon. If anything is incorrect feel free to correct it. This is better than a soap opera though not as funny.

Sorry if i sound defensive. :\

currently rumored are all vendors including stadium vending, Ice creams, even balloons are to recieve a PDA-like device that will be able to accept credit card/plastic. Ive been told the system is similar to WDW's ODV system. A network is up already for photopass to pass the photos to Disney server, im sure a similar system will be soon in place or be used on the same existing system. Im not too sure if Disneyland Churros, popcorn, Hotfoods carts can be outfitted with a register as you can see, they really dont have much room for it, AND the registers become vulnerable to weather. DCA registers are protected in a case, but as you can compare, DCA carts like twice as big as DLR carts. It be interesting as what is going to happen. This leads to the next point...

The whole development as how i understand it right now is basically a ODV-QSR Merge. The main ppl affected are Cashiers reporting locations. Everything else stays the same. it will definitely be different as it create a lot of different problems. At the moment, union reps are strongly advising us to go to the union meetings to voice our opinion. So iono what might happen. The big details are still being developed. This is all i know so far.

I was not offended at all. I do try to have reputable sources or first hand knowledge when posting. I really live Glendalais and have never met them in the park. I have met a lot of CMs and do not go hunting for people whom I may know online. I like having CM friends but just could not myself at the local Home Depot looking for someone from online that I know.

Big hugs and dole whips to you Albort.
Trust me I got a couple wackos online annoying me and one dude from a former site actually posted my picture on the internet saying I was stinky and a lot of bad stuff. I had a very long deluxe bath the day before the picture was taken lol, and his friends still hound me for 3 years so you are not offensive at all. I got mug shots to prove it, lol, and even had the photobucket yank the photo, lol.

More hugs
Laurie

That's how I understood it, based on what ODVers are saying. Given all the confusion flying around, I'm not that surprised the information is off.

However, they are indeed putting in registers, the Hot Foods and Churro Carts in The Hub have already been outfitted with MATRA Terminals, as has the Churro Cart in TL, I believe. And I have a gut feeling that's also what they're doing with the Popcorn Cart near Coke Corner.

yeah, definately slow down the vendors though. Thats what a lot of the current ODV vendors really hate about it. Takes like 5 mins for Matra to load and system lags quite a bit after a months use! Makes me wonder if they have to add a line too back to the main server from every cart. thats a lot of wiring... :D

yeah, im usually over at DCA. rarely venture over to DL espically during spring break. I just cant imaging fitting a matra system on that HF cart unless they fitted it in by cutting out the window. i know cappo cart is already on Matra and been like that for awhile.

i also hear the rumors of the reason why this is all happening... but i forgot which president was the one that split ODV out of QSR and now its going right back together, im guessing that president is gone from Disney. Oh well, will see. June 14th is the official transition date.

Actually....they ripped out Cappo Cart. A few days ago.

There have been mobile Carts selling Glow and Hot Cocoa under the cover where it used to be.

Can you charge things at the carts to your DL room key like you can at WDW? We'll be at the GCH and I didn't realize I'd have to take that much cash to the parks with me at DL.

If there is a cash register or a sign that shows the icons for the credit cards then yes you may charge to your room.

Room charges, Birthday card, gift certificates and credit/debit cards may only be used at places with registers thus no buying balloons.

Oh man, there goes my excuse for the kids, "No, you can't have popcorn/churros/lemonade/giant pretzels. I didn't bring cash and they don't take credit cards!"

:rotfl:

See it is the evil management coming up with another way to get money from us. Now you can use gift cards, room keys, and credit/debit cards. For now you can get away with not buying the balloons.:rotfl:

hahah, Cappo cart had a matra system awhile ago... i wonder what they are up to... :|

seriously though, Cappo cart is in such a terrible place to sell coffee at night.

I didnt get a chance to go the the meeting so i dont know anything. :(

btw, birthday cards dont work with any ODV carts. thats according to the managers. We tried swiping them, inputting the # in but nothing works. So no birthday cards. :(

That's because they can only be used at Merchandise Locations. F&B Locations (including ODV) are unable to redeem them in any way, even if they're selling Merch (Glow, Balloons, etc.).
