Does anyone know when, for instance, Mousesavers.com, says that the AP rate can be $109/129 (we're going in October), is this it--or are there resort fees added to that when booking? I'm trying to decide whether to book thru Expedia with their buy four get one free promotion now, but they add additional $26 per night to their rate. Are these additions standard for any booking, no matter where you go thru? :confused3

DLH adds about $7 on top of the quoted room rate. This is also added onto expedia (or any other site) rates. You would pay the hotel directly. This covers parking, use of the exercise room, morning paper, etc, and will be charged even if you claim you won't use any of those facilities.

AP rates usually don't get announced until 4-6 weeks prior to the time frame they are available. In the past, those types of rates have been avail in October. But with the 50th celebration, we are not sure what kind of rates AP holders will get, if any. It all comes down to how full they expect to be.

BurleyGirl: My advice is to book through Expedia now and get that good rate. Then if AP rates become available and you cancel you will pay a $25 penalty with Expedia but may save enough money to make that worthwhile. I have yet to snag an AP rate that was a better deal than what I have gotten through Expedia. This way you will be covered.

The amount added by Expedia is mostly for tax, which you would have to pay no matter where you make your reservation. The resort fee for all DL hotels is now $10 plus tax, payable to the resort when you check out. I would go ahead and book the Expedia deal, which is one free night on reservations of 4 or more nights, but don't wait because they might run out of rooms. After I booked my reservation for the end of August, I must have gotten the last one because when I checked again there was no availability for 3 of the 4 nights.

I knew that AP rates are iffy, and will not be known until much closer to October, but I just didn't know if I should expect this added fee to all rates. Sounds like I should. Based upon your expert advice, I have booked my rooms at the DLH, averaging out to $153 per night (before the taxes--sounds so much better that way!). I'm so excited--my family gets to stay at the Original--woo hoo. :bounce: (I will keep my eyes open for better deals, and if one comes along, great--if not, at least it's a much better deal than when I first started planning this trip, and what's $25 cancellation fee in the grand scheme of things!?!)

Again, thanks to all who responded. :)
