DL tickets and reservations - April 15!

A ticket longer than 5 days would be so great!! I ended up getting APs for my granddaughter and myself because it was more cost effective than adding days to a 5 day park hopper. We're not local - we're in northern California, but we like to take 9-10 day trips so we have lots of pool time and rest time and we have the luxury of allowing the Disney magic to dictate our days rather than having an itinerary.
That is us too. We come down from Oregon and to make an AP make sense we try to take 2 trips within that time frame. Before the parks closed we were actually planning a third trip which I was super excited to use them a third time. We also like to do a full week including arrival/departure days in order to take our time and getting an AP makes more sense than adding extra days every time. I would like to have the option for longer than a 5 day pass as well.

No way to add VGC reservations to the Disneyland app. It's one of those flaws (unless it got fixed). I'm actually surprised you were able to add the reservations online...

I was just able to link my 3 existing VGC reservations on the Disneyland website. I had to use the website, but not the app. But all 3 are showing now on the webpage.

Just a follow up to my posts yesterday ... I emailed Disney Parks and DVC, and I just had a very nice follow up call with DVC. I think it would definitely help if they heard from some other concerned VGC owners as well--especially anyone potentially impacted by a trip in the next 60-90 days. So send those emails! :) I also posted this in the VGC owners thread.

Specifically, I asked for a special bucket for DVC and that the reservation calendar be extended far beyond 60 days to accommodate owners who own a very inflexible product (this is what WDW does and I reiterated that it was wrong to have different rules for the West Coast just because we are a small group).

Yeah, this is new as of 2 weeks ago (posters above said it). It's nice since, for the longest time, there was no way to link it like at WDW!

Rumor I have heard is they will be requesting ID at the gate. They could also stop people from buying online if the CC zip code is outside CA.
Last month, I fully expected that they'd use some part of the system to verify residency - maybe even going so far to use WDW's system that they use to verify Florida-resident passes - but I'm thinking less and less of that now, given the wording they've been using in their announcements.

I've heard several folks say that Magic Mountain hasn't been checking ids at the gate, so I'm not sure if the state is even trying to enforce it.

I think I might have to officially exit the predictions market now, lol.

Someone out-of-state (with previously purchased, unused tickets linked to their account) shared on the speculation thread that they received an email from DLR stating they will be welcome to return when the out-of-state restriction is lifted. Sounds like they will be checking residency at least at the point of sale.

The wild part is your can see the reservations online, but not the tickets (can link tickets though!). And opposite on the app- see tickets, but not the hotel reservations.

Wonder how going to marry the theme park reservation and making 'groups' since there's no party capability on the disneyland side like MDE.

I expect two tiers like for the SoCal resident ticket --
1. they will load all California zip codes and offer California tickets during this time at xxx pricing
2. they will check IDs at the gate to show CA domicile --- ie Driver's License / Utility bill.

--I do wish they release the ticket options and pricing for this limited time run to allow better planning instead of mad dash on 4/15

I'm having trouble finding it now, but they posted something in the last week that suggested that they were just going to ask people to certify (like a checkbox) that they were residents during the ticket and park reservation process, rather than forcing it via CC address or another method. If I can't find it, maybe that means they've changed their minds and are going to go further.

If there's a complication, it's that people who have tickets already wouldn't have to go through the CC address check again, and if people have moved since they bought their tickets, there wouldn't be a way to easily re-verify it. (I had a bunch of predictions that they wouldn't take existing tickets right away for this reason.)

And the email might just be PR to discourage people from trying.

But, honestly, at this point, it could be anything. If I had to predict now, I'd guess that they'll make people check a box affirming that they're CA residents, then maybe check ids (at least sporadically) at the gates.

And if the state isn't really enforcing it, they may not have to do all that much.

Has Disney announced anywhere how many reservations each person can hold at a time?

Not yet.

I'm assuming it'll just be length-of-ticket, one active ticket per person at a time. (There were hints last month that new tickets might be limited to 3 days, but we may not know that until Monday.)

The OC Register article stated ticket prices would be the same, if that's what you meant?

"Prices in the five-tier ticket system will remain unchanged from when the park closed in March 2020. "

Super bummed that they aren't giving priority or a bucket to resort/DVC stays. Kind of a kick in the pants to VGC owners who need to make reservations so far ahead of time.
I agree, we are in the same boat. Have had reservations for June since like November I think.

I posted on that thread too. My account updated to with a message that says they’re updating my location as Northern California or something along those lines. So they are checking that way at least.

I also got an auto generated email from them saying as an existing ticket holder, I am able to make my reservations on April 12th.

I have VGC reservations but no existing tickets and am super worried about not being able to buy tickets AND secure reservations when they open on the 15th (we are CA residents). Not really a question here, but just hoping for some commiseration and advice from all you wonderful people :-)

We canceled our May 2-5 dates with the uncertainty

A little off topic but my family has tickets and are California residents - so I was thinking a trip to Disneyland would be a fun way to kick off summer and celebrate the end of distant learning with a 5 year old. I was hoping to stay at the Grand Californian but noticed on their website that the pools will be limited capacity (no mention of a reservation system though) and the watersides would not be operating. Such a bummer. Does anyone have any more info on this? Are the waterslides open at the Courtyard and/or HoJo on Harbor?

I wonder when October reservations will be available?

<SPECULATION ALERT> Based on available info, the calendar will be 60 days out. I'd say that means Oct reservations will be available in August. <END SPECULATION ALERT>

YMMV though. I think things are very very fluid right now and subject to rapid and sudden changes. I'm 'hoping' for Sept and all I can do is keep my eyes on Disney fan sites and DL.com.
