DL Next week, But worried about the Hotel? Quality Inn and Suites

Hi All~
Just have to share my excitement. We will be in DL 7/23 - 726. This is our 4th trip this year being we live only 6 hours away and I scour the internet for cheap flights. Only down side is I booked a little late, like 3 weeks ago, and our normal hotels are either booked up or way too expensive. We normally prefer Paradise Pier or Fairfield Marriott across the street. So I decided to play the price line game with fingers crossed and ended up with Quality Inn and Suites on Manchester. Now, I am not being a snob, but this is not somewhere we would normally stay and I am a little scared to be honest. But its booked and there is no turning back. I already know my husband is going to complain, lol. Any good reports anyone has had with this property, please feel free to share to lessen my concerns??

I stayed here 6 years ago for our first Disney trip. For the price we paid it was about what we expected. Not great but not bad either. Pretty average. The room was small, but there were just 2 of us. And we could hear the freeway. The walk was manageable and we went back to the room for an afternoon break each day. At the time they had a breakfast which was standard cereal, muffins and make your own waffles.

As a place to crash at the end of a busy Disney day, it fulfilled our needs

We stay there off and on. It is a decent motel that is not to bad. It has an ART stop right next door at the HOJO's, so that is a possibility. Smallish pool but its serviceable. They have been nice and allowed us to park the car in the morning of check in, but that was prior to the loss of room the have had recently. Go thinking Motel and you will be fine!

You can always read through the reviews on Trip Advisor to get an idea of what to expect. It gets 3 1/2 stars, so it's about average. I like to read the most recent reviews to get an idea of how the place is doing.

As a family we stay at the Resort but when I go alone, I usually stay at the Quality Inn on S. Manchester because it is the cheapest within walking distance .It is only a 10 minute walk to the park.It is clean ,safe, the staff is friendly. One time I was given a room next to the freeway and I complained that it was too noisy and they moved me to the interior. No noise.

Would you mind telling us what rate you paid through Priceline? This motel is one of the cheapest places I have found so far in Anaheim, and I always wonder if the other companies really give a good discount compared to booking directly with the hotel. I just reserved a few nights in September for a friend who didn't require anything fancy, for about 100.00 a night, with a AAA discount. I think it's about 25-50.00 less per night than anything on Harbor.

I checked on a price for a night at the Quality Inn on S Manchester for Aug 23 , price is $83/night if you are a Choice Privilege member. Free to join. Price is for advanced on line booking, no cancellation allowed. Add taxes , and parking was $10/night. Off season I have seen it as low as $50.

Totally moving towards a bit of a dif subject, but I wondered at the price you got from Priceline as well. I have never used them, and would love a super deal, but don't like that we would not know where we were staying until after we are committed. Can you use priceline and know you will have a hotel/motel in walking distance? Or could we try and end up way too far to walk?

When you're looking at each hotel deal, the site will list the area like "Disneyland South" or "Disneyland/Convention Center." You can click on a map and it will say something like, "Your hotel is guaranteed to be within the colored area." The areas can be fairly large. Some hotels in the same area will be in good walking distance, but others will be further out. It's kind of a gamble. What I don't like about Priceline is that it doesn't tell you what type of room you're getting. It just says you'll get a room that will fit your party size. With two tall boys, we need at least two queens. We can't deal with double beds. Ideally, we like two queens and a sofa sleeper. We also like to stick with the hotels closest to the front gate. For those reasons, as tempting as the discount offers are, I don't book with a site unless I know the name of the hotel.

Don't get freaked out reading bad reviews on a place. People are much more likely to complain than to write positive reviews.

If you're one of those people who only likes high-end hotels, anything off the Disney property aside from maybe one of the high-end (and comparably priced to a Disney hotel room) rooms at the Hilton or likewise might leave you feeling let down, but you would get that from most average hotels, not just this one. Every hotel has good and bad reviews and experiences.

Worst case, check for the big 'nasties' when you get there (bed bugs, bodily fluids, mold etc) and if you find nothing that makes you want to wretch, breathe easy. Besides, you'll likely be so exhausted from some packed days at DL that the little things won't matter.

Honestly, none of the hotels in the area are bad. There is so much competition and they all stay so busy that they not only have the resources to keep them up but they also have the incentives to stay decent.
I would not worry about it and enjoy your trip.

Thank you all!!! I have read trip advisor and that is what makes me a little scared. I ended up paying 115.00 But that seems so much less than other normal hotels we would stay at, by about 150.00 a night. After all is said and done, I don't think we really saved much for the hotel than if I would have booked direct. Maybe 10-15 dollars. Disappointing.

there is actually another qi I stayed at on the back side of CA and it was not the nicest hotel but it was 89$ a night!

We've stayed there, twice. I would totally stay there again. You're lucky to have gotten something within walking distance using Priceline! Anyway, the rooms are small and tight with an ECV and stroller. The walk is manageable. The toilet paper is awful, very scratchy (who buys TP made in China?); I suggest bringing your own. The free breakfast is one of the best in the area - waffles, yogurt, multiple fruits, toast, English muffins, hard boiled eggs, cereals, doughnuts, etc. I have had better free breakfast, but not near Disneyland.
