DL hotel questions

I have a few questions about hotels at Disneyland. We will be at DL from Dec. 19-27 and want to make sure we have the room that is going to best fit our needs. We are a party of 5 possibly 6 and there will be 2 maybe 3 electric scooters. Right now we are booked to stay in a suite at PPH, but I want to make sure that it is the best fit for our family or if we need to stay elsewhere. If we do stay elsewhere, how far is it from the park? This is probably going to the one and only trip to DL, so we want to make sure we are picking the right hotel will meet our needs. We are getting ready to pay the trip off and if we decide to downgrade from an onsite hotel to a neighborhood hotel, I want to do it before we pay the trip off. Any suggestions would be GREAT!!

When we stayed at the Grand Californian it seemed like everyone with an ECV left them in the hall over night. I'm not sure if they didn't fit well in the rooms or if they didn't fit at all but at the deluxes at WDW I rarely see someone leave their ECV in the hall constantly. Then the halls were also hard to pass through as well which is probably an issue for others on ECVs. I'd have to guess that PPH is smaller than GCH so space may be an issue. I'm not sure if the chain hotels near by are better.

I have never stayed at the PPH, but I can almost guarantee you that a suite will be fine for 3 ECV's. The last time I stayed at DLH I was in a HC room with roll in shower and we had 2 queen beds and 3 wheelchairs in the room (1 power WC and 2 manual wheelchairs). We had plenty of room inside the room for all the people and chairs that we had. The person in the PC is semi ambulatory so was able to charge the PC in the bathroom overnight and the 2 manuals were inside the room.
I think the "problem" with ECV's in the hall (which I did experience at DLH as well) is that people are not comfortable driving them into the rooms (hard to open doors with an ECV) so they choose to leave them in the hall instead. I don't recommend this for a number of reasons, but first is the risk of a fire hazard. It also makes it hard for other wheelchair users to get through (I felt squished going by in my manual), and if someone was feeling feisty they could easily damage your ECV (personal or rental) leaving expensive repairs up to you.
I think you will enjoy staying on property. I know that I love staying on property even though I live 35-40 min from DLR.
Let us know how it goes!

I will definatly let everyone know how it goes. I just wanted to make sure that we did have room. I know at least one of the ECV's will be rented, my dad is bringing his own and if I can get the doctor to approve mine then mine won't be rented either...but my husband who has just lost his insurance until Medicare kicks in will have to use a rented one. We are all semi ambulatory so the whole bathroom situation is ok, other then being able to roll the ECV into the shower to charge at night. I also have to think about my IV feedings (TPN) that will have to be delivered to me down there and has to be refrigerated....since we are going to be there so long I can't just bring it with me, have to have it delivered weekly.
