My sister experienced what she described as a, well, dizzy, foggy weird feeling in her head while on her last cruise. She said she didn't have the nausea, queasy stomach feeling like I typically get due to motion. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Any advice on what can make her not feel that? I'm trying to have her take Bonine but not sure if there is something else for her type of symptoms. Thanks!!

Yes! These are my exact symptoms! I have also felt feverish/flu like symptoms. Never nausea. For our next cruise, I think I am going to try the acupressure wrist bands and maybe ginger candy (that worked for morning sickness for me) since meds seem to make me too drowsy, even if they are supposed to be a nondrowsy formula.

Those are common symptoms of Motion Sickness - just without the puking. I don't always have to have nausea to have motion sickness!!! But Puking then sleeping always helps....

Could have also been fighting off a bug!

And you can experience these symptoms for a few days after getting off of the ship as well.

I have terrible, terrible "land legs" or whatever you call it for several days after we're back home. Horrible. Hopefully, I'll find something that works.

My friend got off a ship last month and had all the motion sickness symptoms for a full week after (on land). She was bedridden with it. She didn't have any issues while cruising, but when she got off the ship. She thinks she should have left her patch on a day or two after leaving the ship.

Just adds insult to injury when you're back home!

Definitely symptoms of motion sickness - I start my motion pills two days before I leave and I always continue to take my motion pills for a few days after the cruise otherwise I feel dizzy for up to a week after the cruise!

This is me too, but there are times I do get nauseous as well. My dr. explained it to me that it has something to do with the inner ear imbalance which causes the lightheaded and dizzy feeling. Like others have recommended, I take Bonine two days prior, during, and 2 days after the cruise. One time, I was still dizzy after a week, and my dr. told me to try Sudafed Sinus for a few days. (Not in conjunction with Bonine though.) He said it helps with the inner ear balance/pressure. Hmmmmm.... not sure about that, and I didn't try it, but if it ever happens again, it's worth a try.

The other suggestion is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.... those are also classic dehydration symptoms and it's easy to get dehydrated when we travel. :flower3:

I don't ever get motion sickness on the ship. However, I can't ride things like the pirate ship ride at fairs without it making me nauseated. On formal night of our alaskan cruise, the ship was rocking in what felt like that back and forth motion pretty bad and I was feeling dizzy like that but not nauseated. I had decided I was just going to go up to the room and lay down because the dizziness was getting to me. As soon as I stood up I threw up all over the table....it came out of nowhere with no warning. It took 3 attempts to stand up without puking.....but when I finally did, I went and showered (that was fun trying to stand up in shower with the ship rocking and dizziness) and went to bed. Woke up feeling amazing and no problems the rest of the cruise.

Is that when you're back in your house and it feels like your house is moving like the ship?

That's me. Every time.
I was a crew member so in a way got used to it (although it would only really get to me if I woke up and it was rocky, if it got rocky throughout the day I was fine...)
I just used to take what the medical centre gives out, but just took half because otherwise it would make me even more drowsy.

This was my husband as well! He couldn't do anything for about a week after our cruise last month! It made him kinda swear off cruising :(

I get dizzy and zigzag so bad walking down the hall you would think I am drunk after we get home. I keep the bonine going for a few days. I also found if I take a video of the ocean, I can watch it for a minute or 2 and the feeling is instantly gone.

Now THAT'S interesting. I know that watching the horizon usually helps, but this is fascinating.
