Obviously Mamu I HAVEN'T been on this board as much as I used too... because I just now found my happy birthday thread! 
You are probably wondering - "What's up with that?" Well... I have a job that seems to be taking more than it's fair share of my time and mental resources, and to be honest with you all... when I am really stressed out... I tend to retreat. I will try and make my way here more often. The garden pics were few and far between this year. Too busy "doing" and not enough time spent time just enjoying. The garden was beautiful this year though... and my new project was very rewarding. I have my work cut out for me - planning more permanent plantings for all those new beds... PLUS... I am thinking of doing some changes to my main garden... new walkways and some other hardscape changes - (sigh) next spring.
For those that like them... here are a few of the highlights from this year's garden:

The vegetable garden in early summer. Later the tomatoes climbed over the cages and produced huge meaty BRANDYWINEs and delicate choice cherry tomatoes. That big pile you see in the background... that is my COMPOST pile! It is enormous.

That same day in the main garden area... the sun catching the golden tones of the coreopsis and the fiery red Centranthus.

Another place in the main garden... the salvia is blooming and the coneflowers bear the promise of the beauty that would soon enfold.

The climbing rose that beckons you into my garden... from June through the killing frosts of fall.

Some of the annuals I planted in my new gardens that wrap around the house. They bloomed profusely all summer - only quitting when the temperatures dropped to 15 degrees about two weeks ago.

So I guess I did take a few pics ... and I think I shared some of them along the way.
THANK YOU for remembering my birthday. I am so lucky to have such good friends. I will truly try to get over here more often.

Those are incredible!!! Thanks so much for posting them. I love the iris picture! They are all very beautiful. Yeah, that is a heck of a compost pile you have. Do you need to rent a machine to turn it? Not only are the pictures great, but your writing style is a perfect match!!!

TigH... you just blow me a truckload of your Florida pixie dust okay?! LOL!
As to turning that compost pile... I did use a bobcat this spring to consolidate and turn it ... but for the most part I just pile and then dig from the bottom (which is generally pretty well "cooked"). The biggest problem I have around here with composting... is that we are very very dry and hot during the summers... and the pile drys out and quits cooking. It heats back up in the fall/winter/spring - so I don't really worry about it. Usually, I add compost in the fall to the flower beds... and in the spring to the vegetable garden before planting.
As to turning that compost pile...
