Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

Jackie - I'm heading down tomorrow. Just checking in to wish you safe travels on your bonus F&W trip. Can't wait to meet up with you in World Showcase!! :yay: See ya real soon! :upsidedow

PS- hope Charles is prepared... ;)

Great update! Morocco is my fave country too! It is so beautiful and feels so real! I love walking through it! I have never eaten there yet though, someday! My Mom's side is Armenian and has quite similar food. I really wonder if the Cafe's baklava could stand a chance against my Mom's!

Allyson

What a great tour through World Showcase, I love the morocco picture!!

Thank you! We were having a good time!

I'm FINALLY caught up! Happy belated birthday to Connor. I think the photo with the gargoyle & Connor is my fave- so cute!! :goodvibes

Thank you! I laugh every time I see that pic of Connor and the gargoyle.

what a lovely lovely trip around the world you are taking us on. I so hope to have/take the time to savor the WS like this.

I  Tangerine cafe. Although my kids were NOT impressed with the Bakalava. Go figure.

How long did your henna last? I did it once and it did not last long at all :(

Thank you! We love goofing around in World Showcase.

I can't say that Connor and Chelsea were too impressed with their baklava either.

It lasted about a week -- we were kinda disappointed.

The Morocco Pavilion is just so beautiful. :cloud9:

Chelsea's picture poses are cracking me up. She is a little diva! I love her sunglasses by the way. Very cute.

I think Connor with the sitar and Chelsea dancing is one of the best pictures from this trip!

You know I love the Morocco Pavilion -- she is a true diva -- I have no doubt about that. LOL! That picture of the two of them is my computer wallpaper -- it's one of my favorites, too!

Lovely pictures...

Thank you!

Morocco is my favorite too...:goodvibes...Tangerine Cafe = :cloud9:...yummy goodness...btw-I like the lamb too...poor Chelsea...-you didn't say you were eating baa baa black sheep or anything like that did you?;)

 No -- nothing like that. It was about halfway through our meal, and it was like Chelsea suddenly realized what I ordered, looked at me, and exclaimed, "ARE YOU EATING LAMB???" Sometimes she is a bit slow on the uptake. LOL!

Bravo Connor for finding the sitar...you know George Harrison played the sitar (I know all about this because the Beatles are one of David's interests...;)...I won't go on ...but I could...:lmao:

Very cool to know that piece of trivia! :thumbsup2

Don't we get to see your henna????:confused3

I believe those henna pics come up in Germany.

I find the Japanese store extremely dangerous to my wallet...Emily, David and I always find stuff in there...

Same here -- and that goes back to when I was a kid -- we have always loved the Japanese store in our family.

Hmm...I never thought about it but Italy and Japan really aren't known for their hats, are they???

No, not really. Chelsea and Connor tried to make a beeline for the carnival masks but I said, "Oh, no, oh, no!" and that was that.

Enough is Enough?...that sounds a little foreboding...:sad2:

Not really as bad as it sounds...

Wonderful update!! I love the improvisations done instead of hats...great photos!! LOL Chelsea and her sunglass photos!!!!

Camera Diva! That's all I am going to say about Chelsea. ;)

Lunch sounds so yummy!!! I have never ventured over to Morocco to eat but I have heard amazing things about the Tangerine Cafe so I might have to do that sometime!!!

It was amazing!

Can you believe we'll be there together next week Jackie...WOOT!!!

I am feeling this  and this :cheer2:!

Glad the KP missions were a success...for the most part...the second time around and Connor was happy with his 3 missions!!

I was glad we had to turn the phone back in. LOL!

WOOT...Souvenir posts are the best YAY!! I can't wait!!!

I may not get that far before you leave!

Your kids seem to be really good sports. Mine would never play along for pictures like that! :worship:

Denise

Oh, my children have never met a camera they didn't like -- especially Chelsea -- not only were they good sports, but they were thinking these poses up all on their own. :goodvibes

Great update! I never knew you could get the Henna tattoos. I just love shopping in Japan...I think that is where we spend the bulk of our money every trip!

Yes, there is a little spot near the lagoon where they do henna tattoos. Very fun!

YUM! I love Tangierine Cafe!

Me too! :goodvibes

I'm grateful that Connor saved the world THREE times and I'm happy for you that it ended at 3 missions!

Well said, Julie!!!

All of the World Showcase pics are great...such fun ideas!

Thank you! We were having a good time!

It's looking like it was a wonderful day at Epcot. I love the pics of the kids. They are both such hams!

If it hadn't been about 100 degrees, it would have been perfect. We were having a good time though.

I love love LOVE Morrocco! I cannot wait to grab a bite there in November.

I would love to eat there again, but I think we need to focus on the Food and Wine booths.

Tangierine Cafe....mmmmmmmmm. Baklava and hummus...nuff said.

So delicious!

What fantastic pictures!

Thank you!

You even made a visit to the Motherland;)

Yes, and we contributed to its economy! :lmao:

Moracco has baklava?

And lots of other yummy pastries nestled behind a glass-fronted display case. ::yes::

Hi Jackie !
Bet you got an unscheduled day off today. Don't know what county you're in but our schools are closed at least through tomorrow.

Actually we were one of the few counties in northwest Georgia that did not suffer a lot of damage or have to close schools. How did y'all fare?

Loved this update WS is my favorite place in all the world, your pictures were beautiful and Connor and Chelsea look like they're having a blast. The sitar/dancing picture was darling. Are we going to get to see your henna tattoos? You can get those all over the place in Key West next year. Someone said theirs didn't last long, I think the key is to get the ones with heavy lines, those delicate lacy one's don't last.
Tangerine Cafe - yummy!- I have to get myself back there, DH and I tend to go during F&W and so end up skipping the CS places in EPCOT. Morocco's F&W food is never very good, odd I think since TC is so good.

Thank you! Yes, the henna tattoo pics are in the next update. Ours didn't last terribly long this year which made us sad.

Good to know about the Moroccan Food and Wine booth since we will be there soon! :goodvibes

I'm happy for Connor that he got to complete the KP missions, and Chelsea made me smile with the starlet pose, and needing her sunglasses, too too cute.

The next chapter sounds somewhat foreboding, I'm sure it'll be great.

Camera Divas!!!

Not too foreboding. ;)

I've never eaten counter service in Morocco, and you make it sound so yummy! I'm putting it on my vacation to do list for sure.

Add it to the list, TK! :thumbsup2

I mean, really, anywhere you can eat and the get a henna tattoo is okay by me. :goodvibes

Don't forget that you can also get a Tangierine Daiquiri or a Sultan Colada as well! ;)

I love all the pictures of the kids. Chelsea is so good at posing. I was totally like that at her age.

Heck, I still do that sometimes now. :lmao:

:lmao: Then we need to make sure we get a picture together next Friday!

Fun throughout World Showcase! I'm glad Connor got to do more Kim Possible missions.

When my little boy is happy, we are all happy. ;)

The baklava is good, but so sweet that I can only eat a little bit of it.

When I get it at home, it takes me days to finish it!

All of Chelsea's posing is cute. She was out to give us Dis friends a good time with these pictures.

She loves being in front of a camera. LOL!

I hope you guys are safe and sound down there in and around all of the floodwaters.

We have been very fortunate in our county, but it has been very unnerving watching the news coverage of the destruction just next door practically.

Great update! Tangerine Cafe is on my list too. And I would totally have been like Chelsea and freaked out over the lamb when I was a teen. It took me quite a while to realize my mom wasn't eating flipper when she ate mahi-mahi.

:rotfl: I used to be the same way about lamb, too, until I discovered how good it tasted.

So the henna tattoos... how long do they take? Are there a lot of designs to choose from? Is there usually a line? :confused3 Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Lots of designs, very quick to do, and we have never encountered a line. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to the souvie post.

Coming soon, but I think you may be gone before I get to it.

Looks like it was a PERFECT World Showcase afternoon!! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to share another one with you very soon!! :)

Fingers crossed it's not raining or too hot! :goodvibes

I love your little walk through the countries!! The kids are adorable as always. Love the picture of Chelsea in Italy! So cute.

Thank you! We were having a good time!

Great update! I want to try the Tangerine cafe too. Looks SOOO good.

The pictures of the kids in the countries are cracking me up. I especially love the one of Connor in Italy with all the rings.

Thank goodness your "fun" with KP has come to an end. ;)

Thank you! The Tangierine Cafe was quite good! Connor just kept piling those rings on! LOL! I was very thankful to put that KP phone in the drop box.

Hey you!
I've heard about the flooding it sound's terrible. Hope you guys aren't effected too badly. Is school closed?
The WS sounds like so much fun!
Did C & C get the passports I think Emily and Amy might make their own.

Hi! Our schools didn't close as we were very fortunate to escape the worst of the flooding. We were very thankful when we saw how bad it was just a county over.

We've done passports in the past -- it's a very cute activity for the kids.

Me thinks it may be Charles......

You are so right about the strap being an ego-tamer! No wonder she was so mad at me!

Great update CP!!! We really thought the shwarma platter in Morroco (Tangierine Cafe) was way good! We went last November! Can't wait to revisit this September trip!!

Are you having the same trouble I am trying to figure out how to fit all the food you want to eat into a short trip! LOL!

I think the kids in Italy were great, I of course really want to compare Italy with what the WS has to offer... a very different feeling obviously. Those glass rings are very popular with the HS crowd...

Looking forward to more!!!

Oh, I bet they loved those rings! I think Chelsea really liked them, too!

KP does seem to have been a hit in your family! At least until it gets too hot!! :)

The heat was just leeching the fun out of the KP missions for me.

I think one of those glass rings from Italy will be on my shopping list for December!

So, are you buying your Christmas gifts at Disney this year? That would make for a fun Christmas morning.

Love the pictures, especially the ones in Morrocco. Connor does make a most excellent sitar player, and Chelsea could be a model, I swear. Henna tattoos sound cool, I'll have to check that out! You were a very nice mom for letting Connor do all those KP missions. I'm sure they are fun, but I bet it gets old after too many, especially when you are hot. You must be getting very excited for your trip!

Thank you! The KP missions do get old after a couple and the hotter it is, the less fun it is.

Great update! Love that Chelsea had to pose with her sunglasses on!

Can't wait for more!

Thank you! She was cracking me up having to put her sunglasses on for the picture.

Enjoyed the stroll through WS this morning! The "before sunglasses" and "after sunglasses" pics of Chelsea are too cute! Glad Connor finally got all his missions accomplished.

I'm with Wigd...I'm thinkin' you finally put the habeus butt kickin' on Charles.

Thank you! Yes, Chelsea is at that age where everything has to be just right.

You will see...:rolleyes1

Wow Morocco is so pretty! I will have to pay better attention to it as I stroll by! As always, Chelsea and Connor are adorable and I love their pictures! So cute how they are now telling you how they want props, etc. in the photo!

Tracy

Morocco is so beautiful and I love the little maze-like warrens of shops and such back there!

Chelsea and Connor were definitely directing their own World Showcase photo shoot that day!

I love your pictures from Morocco.. we didn't get many pictures this time. Morocco is one of my favorite countries there. I just think its so beautiful and unique.

I am still trying to get caught up but for now I am commenting on your newest post and I'll work my way back. hehe

Thank you, Jen! Morocco is definitely my favorite -- and mostly because like you said, it is so different.

I'm loving your trip around the world. I'm getting lots of ideas for the next trip. Your kids are great sports and look like they're having a blast. I actually read your post yesterday on my lunch hour while I was eating sharwarma and hummus. I would love to try it in Morroco. Your pictures of all the countries are beautiful. Do you scrapbook? I do and they are going to make some great pages.

Thank you! One of the things I love about the DIS are all the great ideas I get from reading other people's PTRs and TRs.

I do scrapbook -- although I never seem to have enough time to do it anymore. Once we get back from our trip in October, I am settling back into a scrapbooking routine.

I'm with Chelsea as I could never eat lamb. The poor little wooly thing! LOL! Sorry Jackie. ;) What a fun time you guys had taking cute pictures.

Oh, but that lamb was so good! :lmao:

We were having a fun time.

Love the photos of the kids in the different countries, very cool idea :thumbsup2

Thank you! It was all Chelsea's idea!

Oh and I love lamb, even though I had a pet one as a kid :rotfl:

:lmao: It is tasty on a pita. ;)

Such cute pics the kids took in all the different coutries. I am glad Connor got his fill of KP missions.

Thank you! I was so relieved that we had done enough KP missions to satisfy Connor.

It looks like you all were having a fun trip around World Showcase. We have never spent much time there, but I would like to. I know that we will at least be visiting the Japan on our next trip, my son is very excited to see the Pokemon stuff.

We were having a blast! They have a ton of Pokemon stuff in the Japanese shop along with Yu-Gi-Oh, Bakugan, Naruto...lots of neat stuff for grown-ups, too! I always gaze longingly at the tea sets.

SO excited you wrote about Tangerine Cafe!! We have that scheduled on our PTR (check it out on my Siggy). I keep reading so many great things about it:love: Of course, your children are adorable :goodvibes

Thank you! Yes, I have always read great things about Tangierine Cafe as well!

I will head over to your PTR tonight. :thumbsup2

Jackie - I'm heading down tomorrow. Just checking in to wish you safe travels on your bonus F&W trip. Can't wait to meet up with you in World Showcase!! :yay: See ya real soon! :upsidedow

PS- hope Charles is prepared... ;)

Have a wonderful and safe trip, Christine!!! Can't wait to see you next Friday as we eat our way around World Showcase!

I think Charles is ready -- he told me to forward him the allears article today! :thumbsup2

Great update! Morocco is my fave country too! It is so beautiful and feels so real! I love walking through it! I have never eaten there yet though, someday! My Mom's side is Armenian and has quite similar food. I really wonder if the Cafe's baklava could stand a chance against my Mom's!

Allyson

Thank you! I could spend hours in Morocco, I think.

You are so lucky to have grown up eating baklava made by your mom!!! I am very envious!

They are really neat to look at/wear, I am just afraid that I will be emphatic or rather TOOO emphatic one day and SMASH goes the ring... ;)

You and me both -- I tend to wave my arms a lot when I am teaching or just talking -- I could see that ring just sailing across the room.

I have been enjoying your report and haven't commented much, but I just have to say a couple things:
1. Great pictures
2. Super cute kids
3. Sounds like a great trip
4. Where's Charles?
and
5. I think it's awesome how you take such time to respond to everyone's comments!! It's one of the things that makes it worth reading (plus the pictures!)

I hope you will do another after your F&W trip. Have a great time!! I'd love to hear about and see all the food offerings. It sounds like it'd be right up my alley. Eating, drinking and WS!! Perfect!

So, are you buying your Christmas gifts at Disney this year? That would make for a fun Christmas morning.
Well, I plan to buy my own Christmas gifts at Disney. I thought maybe gift cards for the others and then a big show and tell on Christmas morning...

You and me both -- I tend to wave my arms a lot when I am teaching or just talking -- I could see that ring just sailing across the room.
Second grade beware, your teacher will be sporting a flashy new ring after Christmas, if it comes flying your way.......duck!

we did ONE KP mission this trip and that was enough:rotfl:. It was a very cool thing through- next time we will do some more if it is still available!

Ashton has the shirt that matches Chelsea's Mickey bag-too cute!

Lori

Chelsea's reaction to you eating lamb reminded me of when the girls were younger. (Ages 8,5,and 3.) I made porkchops for supper one night and the two older ones told the youngest that I had cooked Lamchop (as i Sherri and Lambchop.):headache: They said that when I told them what was for dinner all they could remember was the word chop so it must be Lambchop. :lmao:

How did I get pages behind on this TR??:confused3 Anyway..love the evening at AKL & the African Queen. What a nice way to spend time & then drinks & pool time:cloud9: AH Boma. Love love love this place!! We go for breakfast or dinner every trip. Um I probably should not admit this but I have used the strap on Soarin (I am only 5 feet after all) but have not used it on the last few flights.
I think I feel safe enough without it now:rotfl2:.

CP I know how you feel on leaving the kids to go on a trip. I am planning our 25th anniv. trip for May & am having a hard time thinking about going without our 2 sons & they are 20 & 16 :lmao: Friends are telling me to get a life :lmao:
I think I will be calling today to make our reservations.

Happy belated birthday to Connor!!

:rotfl2:IKWYM about feeling guilty traveling without your kids! I felt the same way, my boys are 26 and 24 and married now! We really enjoy our trips alone now, but spend most of the time planning what the grandbabies would like! ;) Have a great trip!

Jackie, I loved your update - the pictures are so beautiful! I love how your kids are so creative with the photo ops. I have to say we are not fans of Tangeriene Cafe - I know alot of people love it, though. Your next trip is getting really close!:yay:

Just found your TR. Great report!

I'm loving the pictures!

(OT - we used to live in a small town north of Atlanta as well!)

I am definitely doing a Food and Wine trip report when we get back! I can't wait!

Second grade beware, your teacher will be sporting a flashy new ring after Christmas, if it comes flying your way.......duck!

:lmao: If they have good hand-eye coordination they can try to catch it!

Lori

I did think the KP missions were cute -- but more than one at a time was too much for me.

I didn't see the matching t-shirts -- I bet it is adorable!

Jackie, I loved your update - the pictures are so beautiful! I love how your kids are so creative with the photo ops. I have to say we are not fans of Tangeriene Cafe - I know alot of people love it, though. Your next trip is getting really close!:yay:

Thank you! Our trip is super close -- as in this time next week we will be there! :scared1: This weekend I have to get stuff together no matter what!

Just found your TR. Great report!

I'm loving the pictures!

(OT - we used to live in a small town north of Atlanta as well!)

:welcome: Thank you so much!

I wonder if the small town you used to live in is near the small town I currently live in...

Morocco is my favorite too! I love how it feels like your walking through a bazzar.

The kids pictures are funny...I love Conner with the fez!

Onward from Italy, we continued our unrelenting trek around the world in search of goofy headgear photos.

Next stop: Germany

312.jpg

Connor’s feeling on the relentless paparazzi was “Enough is enough!”

313.jpg

Chelsea was more than happy to model her henna.

314.jpg

I was hot and tired, but I knew my readers would want to see my henna. LOL!

316.jpg

Ah, there are the German hats!

317.jpg

318.jpg

Chelsea wanted to take a picture of this cute German shop.

319.jpg

A quick stop at the Outpost with an “artistic” shot.

320.jpg

Even in China, we were drawn to giraffes!

321.jpg

No hats, but Chinese masks! Chelsea and Connor were so excited to find these!

322.jpg

Then we arrived in Norway! Now, we were really beginning to drag, but Chelsea would not let us stop.

323.jpg

324.jpg

We rode Maelstrom where, while we were waiting in line, I heard my favorite conversation of the week.

Random Husband to His Wife: I just really wish Ellen’s Energy Adventure had been more FACTUAL.

Random Wife to Her Husband: It was 45 minutes long!!! How much more factual do you need in a theme park???

325.jpg

Finally, we reached our last country: Mexico! I was so exhausted I felt like I could barely move anymore, so we rode Donald’s boat ride to recuperate.

327.jpg

The last of the hat pictures!

326.jpg

328.jpg

329.jpg

330.jpg

As we left Mexico, Charles called to say he was entering Epcot.

UP NEXT: The Ruler of Teppan Edo!

:rotfl: I can not keep from laughing at your kid's pictures!! I am especially fond of the one in Mexico! Also, can't beat mother/daughter henna tatoos :thumbsup2

I have a question for ya---where is the entrance to the donald boat ride?

Can't wait to hear about Teppan!! Dying to try it! Great update.
