Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

When I get the email subscription updates I only see a snippet of a recent post. Not exactly sure how it works. But here is what I just saw:

Forgive me, guys! I love men!

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

I thought to myself, wow, that is quite a declaration MeMom! ;) :)

Regardless it got me to run right over here!

However, an update from CP would surely make us all move on, wouldn't it MeMom??? :thumbsup2

Moving on is sounding more wonderful by the minute!

As Brooklynn would say, "oh my gosh" we do need a CP update!

Heavens, yes, and SOON!

We are sooooooooooooooooooo  lovable!

Yes, you are. All of you. All the time.

Am I out of the doghouse yet???

That's too funny!
And it is so true. :thumbsup2

Do you guys think CP is sitting back not posting on purpose - just enjoying all this???

We fudged the rules a bit with the dining plan too... but only after the CM at Flame Tree BBQ told me it was OK. Zach was fine to eat of the kids menu - he ate pizza, hot dogs, chicken, etc. Alex doesn't eat pizza or hot dogs or sandwiches - he only likes chicken nuggets so it would have gotten very old very fast. He LOVES rotisserie chicken so when we went to FTBBQ I was trying to figure out how to order so he could get some. The CM told me to just order 3 adult meals & 1 kids meal because all the credits are lumped together. :thumbsup2 After that I ordered without him being present, just in case there was a CM who questioned what we were ordering. I know this is too late for you Jackie, but for anyone else reading, we would often order 3 adult CS meals and share them then save the extra CS credit for DH to use for breakfast - he needs his protein in the morning. ;)

It's too bad the CM at CHH didn't offer that option after hearing Connor complain.

Wow, are you one popular lady! All those replies! I had to weed my way through them to get to your update! It just goes to show you that your TR's are good! I really want to get some of those lucious Zebra Domes, but I don't think we're planning on going to AKL this time.:confused3 Do you know if there is another place that they are sold?? If not, I just may have to sneak over there on my own and stock up on some!

Ah, thanks!!! :goodvibes

I don't think zebra domes are anywhere except AKL -- it's worth a trip over there to get them, see the gorgeous lobby, watch the giraffes, and browse through their giftshop.

What a fun update! Poor Connor - I agree with him, they probably need to re-vamp the kid's menu for the Dining Plan. It would get pretty monotonous after a while to eat PB&J and Mac and Cheese all week

I am off to post some new pics of the baby! TT you later!

Thanks! The kids' menu is sadly lacking in variety.

Caroline is just precious and adorable! I know you are just dying to get back to see her again soon!

I think zebra domes are much like meadow muffins but instead of cattle they are made by zebras!

:lmao:

Wigd, you have to promise me that you will get Shocker to try one in December and take a picture!!!

I loved the MK update!!!! What a great way to start out the trip!!! You three sure must have had FUN!!! I hope you told Mr. Diva all about the fun when you got back to your room!!! Thanks for the sweet little pic of the Zebra Domes---I'm drooling as I type!!! YUM!!!!

Thanks! We did tell Mr. Diva all about it -- he didn't seem too torn up about it though because he really is not a fan of the Magic Kingdom -- especially when Space Mountain is down. :confused3

I start drooling everytime I see that picture! I may have to try and satisfy my craving with some of the blueberry cream pie ice cream I bought today. ;)

BTW---you know how you shouldn't eat spicy or greasy foods when you have a bad stomachache????? WELL, you shouldn't look at AMAZING pics of AKL provided by good friends when you have a BAD case of resortitis!!!! NO INDEED!!!! :(

:lmao: I know what you mean! I can't begin to tell you how many times I have run numbers for a fall trip just to get back there. I may have cured my resortitis by finding the resort that I always want to stay at -- I just don't know if the bank account will allow that.

CP, come and rescue me with some African Paradise stuff, please!!!!

How about a morning at Animal Kingdom tomorrow? :goodvibes

Besides you know down here, we don't call them meadow muffins!!! Them folks from the Midwest, what ya going do with 'em??? :rotfl:

:lmao: Glad I am not the only one who has never heard that phrase! It took me a minute to figure it out -- we most definitely do not call them meadow muffins in Georgia.

However, an update from CP would surely make us all move on, wouldn't it MeMom???

I definitely think it is time to head to Tusker House for breakfast tomorrow morning. :thumbsup2

As Brooklynn would say, "oh my gosh" we do need a CP update!

Tomorrow we will go to Animal Kingdom -- maybe we will run into you there!

I had to run errands today and going to Walmart wipes me out. When I got home we had a late lunch and then I crashed. I woke up when the kids started having an altercation of some sort. Imagine my surprise when I logged onto the DIS. ;)

Do you guys think CP is sitting back not posting on purpose - just enjoying all this???

:lmao: Nah, just away from the DIS for most of the day.

Thank you for sharing this, Amy. I hope it helps others who go and find themselves with a Connor or an Alex. :thumbsup2

:lmao: I didn't even catch it the first time!

Somehow when the alarm went off at 5:00 Sunday morning, I didn't feel like I had near enough sleep. However, I knew we had a breakfast date with Donald, so I hauled myself out of bed, got ready, and then woke up the rest of the gang. Charles, for some reason, had really high blood sugar when he woke up, so he had to take extra insulin. This did not bode well -- when he has to take extra insulin, I can almost guarantee that it will drop his blood sugar to low levels in an hour and a half. It was going to be cutting it close with our breakfast ressie. :scared:

We were all at the bus stop by 7:15. I was surprised to see several other families waiting there as well -- I guess we all had the same idea to eat breakfast at Tusker House. A bus pulled up for Disney Hollywood Studios, but since no one was waiting at that bus stop, the driver switched over his sign and pulled up to our stop.

It was a short, short, short drive to Animal Kingdom -- maybe five minutes tops! I loved being so close to that park! We were at the park gates by 7:35 for our 8:15 ressie! As we went through the bag check, I noticed the security guard was from Burlington, Vermont. This was where Charles grew up so I pointed the CM out, and Charles had a nice chat with him about places they both knew. We were allowed into the park itself about 7:50, and I could tell that Charles' blood sugar was beginning to drop. :scared:

I love Animal Kingdom first thing in the morning before all the hordes of people arrive. There is something so peaceful about walking through to Africa.

Here is where we were headed:

We checked in and immediately were sent to the line for the picture (which did not turn out, so we didn't buy it) and were seated almost immediately. Thank goodness because Charles needed to check his blood sugar and drink some orange juice. Our waiter, James, brought the delicious Jungle Juice, and the kids went trooping off to fill their plates.

Charles took his blood sugar and sure enough it had dropped considerably. We found our waiter, explained the situation, and he hurriedly (which gained massive points in my eyes) brought Charles two large glasses of orange juice. He also brought coffee and lots of creamer which is what I needed.

When the kids returned, Charles and I made our way over to the buffet. I cannot say enough about the Tusker House buffet -- this was our second time there, and the food was just as delicious as I remembered it. I am sure we will be back yet a third time on our next trip.

The kids finished their first plates and headed for more food. While they were gone, I noticed Donald making his way around the tables. I began to get very nervous that the children would not be back in time to get their picture with him. I kept hoping Donald would slow down and spend lots of time at each table. Unfortunately, he arrived at our table before Chelsea and Connor. He pointed to their places and raised his hands as if to ask, "Where are they?" I found myself speaking loudly (something I noticed I tend to do with the fur characters -- like I am one of those annoying Americans that raise their voices to people who don't speak English), "They went to get more food Donald!"

Donald pantomimed something. I think I have it narrowed down to one of two things. It was either:

"I will go around to the other tables and will come back."

Or:

"I have to keep going to the other tables -- they are out of luck."

At any rate, I nodded my head and once again speaking louder than normal (in case he couldn't hear me due to all the fur ;)) said, "Okay, Donald! Bye!"

The kids came back soon after my little conversation with Donald and when I told them they had missed them they didn't seem overly upset -- their minds were on consuming more bacon, sausage, and eggs.

They did stick around long enough to meet Mickey, Daisy, and Goofy. Can you spot which times their mouths were full of food?

Connor offered Mickey a potato -- you can see it in his hand:

Unfortunately when Charles' blood sugar drops, it usually leaves him completely drained. After breakfast he decided to head back to the hotel to rest for a little bit and planned on meeting up with us later in the day.

Chelsea, Connor, and I said good-bye to Harambe:

And headed off to Asia!

I love that everyone is color coordinated in the pics. Your kids were better than me. If I was about to miss Donald I would have been flying across the room, spilling food as I came. I love the duck! :cloud9:

It's too bad that Charles was going to have to miss another part of a park day. I hope he was feeling better later to join up with you.

Oh, Poor Charles! Low blood sugar is not fun to deal with. I hope he was feeling better and able to join you later in the day.

I want to go to Tusker House someday, it sounds yummy. I love breakfat buffets more than any other type of buffet. :cloud9:

:lmao:about your loud speaking to the costumed characters!!!My aunt does the same thing!!
With the except of Charles, it sounds like you guys are off to a great morning at AK:goodvibes

Oh poor Charles! Not feeling good at Disney is the pits... Tusker House for breakfast is just the best. I would love to get there to an empty park someday. I might try to book that for December!
I'm guessing the kids had mouths full of food when no teeth were showing! But they did a great job smiling with all that food stuffed in there. Connor and the potato!:rotfl2: What a kid! You can tell that Chelsea is in her element, first full day at the parks :cloud9:, what could be better?
