Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

Jackie, as you read along with me, make note of how many times Baylor orders from the kids menu........:confused3
Which was no problem since we were not on the dining plan, but if we would have paid for the adult rate and he wanted the kids food instead........:headache:
Keeley did that to me in 2006, we paid adult and she ordered kids.
She was 17!:headache:

I have really been debating the dining plan for the next trip --I ran numbers the other night, and we come out about even, if we all order off the adults menus, and all got drinks. I know that wouldn't always happen, so I may just take that money -- put it on something like a Visa gift card so it would be separate from the rest of the trip money, and do it that way. I can totally see Connor ordering from the kids' menu when he doesn't have to. ;)

Selling uncrustables as part of a kids menu is such a cop-out! I used to work in food service at DL, and I would make mickey shaped PBJ sandwiches for the kids meals. My DD hates uncrustables. They are pretty gross.
Thanks for the Zebra Dome pics - YUM! I had no idea you could get them at Mara - score!!!

Hello Charleston Princess, yesterday I caught up on your episodes and loved it.. It makes me super excited about my 1st trip to AKL coming up really soon.(see ticker in sig) I can only hope to get a room with a view as good as yours, I booked standard... Either way I am looking forward to reading more of your report.. Thanks for sharing..

Why, thank you, friend!
I got trees and rocks and even a roof line way in the back.
Awesome! :)

Now I'm going to go youtube Animal Kingdom Lodge and see if I can walk by this spot for real...but not for real.

But in July, I can walk by that spot for real for real! :cool2:

Mickey shaped PBJ sandwiches sound adorable -- I may have to try that at home. I bet Connor wouldn't have had a problem eating the sandwich then.

I never bought the uncrustables since I figured I could make the same thing for a fraction of the cost.

Yes, in the refrigerator cases at Mara they have boxes of zebra domes for about $4.00.

:cloud9: :lovestruc :lovestruc

Those rocks look like lion heads!

They do -- I hadn't noticed it before!

:welcome: I am glad that my TR is adding to your excitement -- I was beside myself about staying there for months beforehand. We booked standard, and I would have been happy with that even -- just to be there is an experience.

You are very welcome! I wonder if there are youtube videos of Kidani -- I should go check that out!

Soon, you will be able to say, "This month I can walk by that spot!"

Oh my gosh, poor Connor. :lmao: Poor you, too, not knowing what to do! DBF is the same way with smells -- certain smells (like fish  ) just get to him and he can't take it. He'll gag or cover his nose and mouth with his shirt, or gag AND cover up his nose and mouth. I was cracking up when I was reading that because I can SOOOO picture him at the same age as Connor, dry-heaving!

Oh poor Connor!:lmao: And poor you.;) We enjoyed CHH. The apple pie things were really delicious. Yummm.

i have friends that are like conner about seafood. i love seafood and the smell doesn't bother me but it makes them cringe. of course they don't wretch in the middle of a restaurant over it! :lmao:

so funny that chelsea stole a zebra dome! i can totally see why though. those things are YUMMY!!!

Awww, poor Connor!!!! I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of him in CHH!! :lmao:
Hollie did that in the elephant house at Zoo Atlanta on her first trip. We had to get her out of there real fast like!!

I love the mickey ears!! Tell them they did an awesome job!!!:thumbsup2

I just caught up on the last TWO updates and I loved them both, as usual! The hats are very cute and the zebra domes look yummy!

Hi CP! I have read along from your PTR and am loving your TR. I have been too shy to join in until now (which my dh finds hilarious since I am not usually shy!!) Anyhoo, I just had to chime in on the awfulness of the kids meals. We just returned yesterday from a week at the Polynesian. My son is 8, will be 9 in August, but is a big boy. At almost every meal that wasn't a buffet/family style I had to give him parts of my food-including when we ate at CHH. I told DH after CS meal 1 when I gave up half my lunch that next year we are getting him the adult plan even though he'll only be 9!

Great update! You packd quite a bit in. Loved the retching story:rotfl2:Totally relate to the HM fear factor. My dd9 loved ToT but is terrified on HM and we only have ever got her on it once. Hoping to make her..I mean let her choose to try the ride again.:scared1: Stay tuned to see how it turns out.

Your update was too funny. It brought back some distinct childhood memories of my brother pulling the retching routine over veggies. Chelsea seems so proud of herself for stealing a zebra dome too.

There are Kidani videos on YouTube !
Thanks for the suggestion!

Good to know! I still haven't made it over to look at them!

:) That was cute!

Kathy

I laughed out loud when I read it!

:rotfl: Too funny! I have this mental image now of Connor doing that with a girlfriend and the girlfriend wondering why his mother never put a stop to it. :lmao:

Oh poor Connor!:lmao: And poor you.;) We enjoyed CHH. The apple pie things were really delicious. Yummm.

I was just floored that I was witnessing him acting like that!

That apple pie was my favorite part of the meal -- I have such a sweet tooth.

of course they don't wretch in the middle of a restaurant over it! :lmao:

Thank goodness for that! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

They are delicious and Chelsea made a pig of herself over them in the course of the week.

I laugh about it now, too! Poor Hollie -- the elephant house can be a tad bit ripe.

They were very proud of their ears!

Thank you! You must get over to AKL one day and try them -- they are delicious!

:welcome: I am so glad you decided to post -- I hope you will continue doing so! I am the opposite -- I am quiet and shy in real life, but pretty outspoken here.

The Poly? I bet that was a wonderful stay!!! Has the dreaded Disney Depression hit you yet?

I totally understand about your DS -- we were constantly passing along bits to Connor when we would get CS the entire week. Thank goodness we had a couple of buffets!

Thank you! The crowds were pretty light that night over in Adventureland -- I was so excited to get so much done that evening.

I actually instituted a rule on this trip that we weren't going to force anyone to ride anything they didn't want to ride. Chelsea was the one who was constantly beseeching Connor to ride things he didn't want to ride. By the end of the week, they were striking bargains with each other.

Your update was too funny. It brought back some distinct childhood memories of my brother pulling the retching routine over veggies. Chelsea seems so proud of herself for stealing a zebra dome too.

 Did it ever work for your brother or did he still have to eat his veggies?

She was so proud of herself for nabbing that zebra dome. I think she has the entire thing crammed into her mouth.
