Beth, I hope the gasoline fairy comes to CA and slashes gas prices for you. I can't find anything under $4 anymore, and I actually saw a station (I think Chevron) on my way to work this morning charging $4.21 for the "cheap" gas :faint:
Yikes, gas is over $4 in California?!?!?! :scared1: We were whining here when they raised 87 octane (cheap gas) from $3.47 to $3.51 two weeks ago then up to $3.55 this week. They dropped it to $3.54 this morning so I felt a little bit better. Guess I should be thankful it is under $4. Ugh.

Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of my first half-marathon. Shoot, it was my first race since sprinting the 100 yard dash in 7th grade. I've got several 5 & 10ks and a few half-marathons under my racing belt now. Wow, it didn't seem possible when I started training in January of 2010. I'm not doing our local half-marathon this year, but I am going to attend to cheer on the runners. The local support meant alot to me last year so I'm going to pay it forward.
The point of this is that those of you that say you can't do it, I can testify that it is possible...even for middle-aged chunky gals like me.
;)

:scared1: How on earth did he do that?? I thought the ships these days would be.... I don't know, more advanced with all sorts of gadgets that would prevent something like backing into a pier from happening. I'd hate to have been standing on that pier.

Well I took a behind the scenes tour and we actually got to go up to the bridge and talk to the captain. He said that they keep making the cruise ships bigger and bigger but the ports and piers stay the same size. The one I was on, the Splendor, is the largest Carnival cruise ship.

Just the week before we hit the dock this ship had hit a Royal Carribean cruise ship while trying to dock in Puerta Vallarta.

The captain said he thinks the ship is cursed. He fell down a shaft while looking at the damage from hitting the pier. :scared1: And the previous captain had a heat attack while on board.

This is also the same ship that caught fire not to long ago and left all the passengers floating out in the ocean with out hot food, or flushing toilets.

But besides all that I really  this ship. :rotfl: We didn't have any problems on our last cruise.

I found some pictures

Sarah- that cruise sounds like fun! :) I have been on a cruise to Ensenada on Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises to the same place I believe, Alaska (for 1 week) on Royal Caribbean and Cabo San Lucas on Carnival. The best cruise was the one to Alaska. That was so much fun. My goal is to make it onto a Disney Cruise next! That would be so awesome and fun. My family was going to go on a cruise through Norwegian but our plans fell through.

I like your pink pirate costume. Very cute! :cutie:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: So that's the secret to getting you to run a marathon. Have you drink tons of water beforehand, and have Juan and a porta-potty waiting at the finish!

If anything was going to work, that would probably be it:upsidedow

You mean dirty minds! :p

Great minds, dirty minds - it's all good :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Maybe we can all learn how to dance like Carlton Banks on Fresh Prince :teeth:

Works for me - I'll bring the video camera :rolleyes1

Sarah - that's a little scary with the dock

I don't believe you. :rolleyes1

:goodvibes Evening Diva's!

So....TGIF. long week at work. I started a new job after 15 years with another company about 6 months ago, so it has been a learning process, and this week they have I guess decided I am worthy and have piled on a cra&*&*(^ load of work, so I have been going nuts. But I adore the new job, so that is great!

Anywho, I took my pooch, his name is Wilson after the volleyball in Castaway, I love tom Hanks, own all his movies, anyway took Wilson to the dog park tonight cause I manageD to escape work about an hour ealry and Willy decides that all the mud puddles look like a great giant bath tub to him, so he rolls in them, plays in them, and he is an absolute mud pit, took the car not the truck so I was freaking out about what the mud would do to the car, so... long story (not too short....I decided I would try to get him in the lake OFF leash :scared1: without Ross by my side. He loves to chase anything and everything, and my fear is he will go after whatever he sees moving, like he does when we are in Montana, but tonight, he obeyed  and came to me, and I threw the stick over and over and he got it for me, and he swam and swam :yay: Here is a picture of my kiddo:

Cute photo! My dog LOVES to swim - chuckit is my best friend! Is he a lab or a goldie?

Cute photo! My dog LOVES to swim - chuckit is my best friend! Is he a lab or a goldie?

He is a Yellow lab, mixeed with what the vet guessed as some sort of hound, due to his traits. He loves the chuck it, loves it. I am fine with him off leash around the house, but have been so hesitant anywhere else. But today he came. We have been whistle training him, and he has taken to that.:banana:

We got him almost 2 years ago. Where my BF works is on indian land, and he fed this dog for 2 years and gave him bones, he was tied to a 1 foot leash in a dog house and kept telling the owner that he needed a better life, one night the guy came out and said just take him, so he did. I had been looking at dogs and such for years and years and one night Ross shows up with this dog, and said he is ours, and mind you ross did not want a dog at all :scared1: so I was like what do you mean, and he siad he is ours, and man o man from that day on, Wilson has been absolute perfection, absolute. Best dog I ever owned. He is amazing. Took him one day to learn sit, stay, lay and everything. Took him 2 days to shake! Now we are searching for his companion. He is just the best dog ever. I always say that he is part my old hound, he has to be. We owned a Basset for 20 years and it was the year after him that Wilson came to us, and I swear some of Chester (the Basset) is in him!

Sorry for the long post, I just love him

Awww, Wilson is adorable. :goodvibes

Always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise. Always, someday
I know, me too! Well, actually I really want to go to Alaska. I'm starting to rethink the cruise part mainly because I am scared I'll spend the entire time puking in my cabin. I am finding the older I get, the less tolerant I am of certain motion.

Night night, ladies!! I am so tired. Noelle and her friend have eaten pizza, popcorn, ice cream and who knows what else. They are downstairs watching Scream 3 now, but I don't think I can stay awake much longer....... :cloud9:

Morning all!

Wow everyone was chatty last night!

Sounds like everyone had a fun Friday night! Beth your Screamathon sounded fun and enjoy the movie today. You will have to tell me how it is as I too have all 3 of the others and LOVE that series! Not sure if I will see it in the theaters but will def want to rent it!

We have netflix as I mentioned and we were on a Twilight Zone marathon last night LOL. We didn't watch all the epi's but rather scanned through and watched the ones that were particularly creepy. I like those LOL.

I didn't make it to fringe so tivoed that and will have to watch that today.

Sara loved your pirate pic! Very cute and so jealous about your upcoming cruise. Mom has done one RC one in the bahamas and is dying to get the girls and I on one but every time we try to plan one it just never works out. SOME day we will get on one though but I am a bit hesitant like beth because I DO get seasick on normal boats and the idea of being "stuck" on one makes me nervous.

Laurie I am sorry that it looks like you might not be able to go at xmas. I hope you can figure something out but hey if you go in Oct maybe you will be there when mom and I are there. I know it is not a consolation but it would still be fun to see you guys and maybe we could all go to the halloween party together!! I know Sherrie is going to be there then and Trudi is coming one of the days. I hope it works out for you though cuz I know how much you wnat to go at xmas!!

Anyway we are working around the yard today and going to run up to walmart and pick up Shelby's bike for her birthday. Otherwise that's bout it for us.

Shane has some work he is going to try and do for a friend tomorrow and then I am going to that baby shower so looking forward to that and then I have work on Monday but since Shane is off I won't have to take the girls with me which is good but then looking forward to spending t,w, th with them. Wed mom and I are taking them to see Rio so I am excited about that.

Anyway that's bout it. Have a GREAT day everyone!

Hey girls!
I have been crazy busy around here with work and Maddie's activities. By the time I get her showered and in bed, I am out like a light. I am heading to work until 10pm and I am so not looking forward to it. JCPenney sales on Saturdays (in the children's dept)=lots of messes and trash everywhere. I am such a neat freak that it makes me crazy. I swear my retail days are numbered.

Anywho...I will try to read back when I get home. Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday! :flower3::grouphug:

:

We woke up to a Blizzard and about 2 inches of snow already on the ground :scared1: Walked the dog, and it was horrible. Got home showered and ready for work, and it was all gone
and I was complaining because I had to shut the windows last night because it was chilly..
I am one of the older Divas here. (Age wise, but definitely young at heart.) This will be my 5th trip! Just think.... a chance to come and do whatever your little heart desires. Eat, ride, sleep, eat, shop, eat, and so on. I believe we are a great group of ladies, and we do have a bunch of fun! I hope you and all lurkers decide to join us!!! :thumbsup2

I think I am going down to DL at the end of this month! My DDs Becky and Kaitlyn are going too. My sweet grandson Luca is tagging along too. :cloud9:

Thank you to all of you with well wishes for my son and DIL. :grouphug: Right now we are just hoping and praying all will go well with them. So many things can happen with multiples.
Thanks Mel, something tells me you'll be running circles around me at DL regardless of age..I'd love to meet up with you and your crew when you come to DL and in my spare time I do bedrest support for pregnant ladies on bedrest, often mommies of multiples. If it comes to it, have your DIL check out sidelines.org they helped me get through a few rough pregnancies..

Another quick hello! (so looking forward to Monday when I can catch up on the thousands of pages you ladies have chatted on!) I am headed to Reno in the morning - yay I got the day off!. I am entering on of my tattoos in a competition at the Tattoo Convention. This is my first time doing so, so I am super thrilled! Plus, I have never been to Reno since I have been 21! Have a wonderful weekend ladies! Miss you all!!!
Glad I'm not hte only one who has 100's of pages to catch up on and...Tattoo convention can't wait to see your artwork!

I am off to work today. Shane got laid off again :( He is off till at least Wed of next week possibly longer. Kind of sucks cuz it really puts a damper on enjoying the weekend and next week when you have to worry about money again. But such is life I guess and we are used to it. Anyway I will just be glad when today is over and I can get on to the weekend and to the girls break!!
Wow, getting laid off for days/weeks at a time has got to be stressful. I can't even imagine not knowing. Hugs & well wishes that ends soon.
Same here. :sad1: I do get to go back in September. I'll only be running right through though. :rotfl: It's always exciting to know when you'll be going again!

Beth, I hope the gasoline fairy comes to CA and slashes gas prices for you. I can't find anything under $4 anymore, and I actually saw a station (I think Chevron) on my way to work this morning charging $4.21 for the "cheap" gas :faint:

Welcome to the group Andrea! :cheer2:
Do you do the 1/2 marathon? That's another one of those things I've been lurking & thinking about doing. Not a runner anymore, but it might give me some motivation to get back into it. I did run the 5K on Castaway Cay in December while on our cruise. That should count for bonus points considering I had enough food & alcohol in me that I should have exploded the minute my foot hit the pavement!

AS far as gas...My suburban laughs at me once a week...

The point of this is that those of you that say you can't do it, I can testify that it is possible...even for middle-aged chunky gals like me. ;)

I'll run it with you, when does registration open?

Beth your Screamathon sounded fun and enjoy the movie today. You will have to tell me how it is as I too have all 3 of the others and LOVE that series! Not sure if I will see it in the theaters but will def want to rent it!
We all liked it!! I mean, it's still part 4 so there is a certain amount of cheeseyness involved, but that adds to the fun. I'm glad we saw it! And I never would have guessed the killer! :rolleyes1

JCPenney sales on Saturdays (in the children's dept)=lots of messes and trash everywhere. I am such a neat freak that it makes me crazy. I swear my retail days are numbered.
Hi friend! :) I remember those days working retail. Ugh, not fun. Hang in there.

I'd love to meet up with you and your crew when you come to DL and in my spare time I do bedrest support for pregnant ladies on bedrest, often mommies of multiples.
Do you get paid for that or is it volunteer? Sounds like it would be nice to do!

Happy Saturday, ladies!!! We are back from the movie and now off to get everyone's hair cut. With 5 people needing cuts, we'll be at the salon for awhile.
Later!!

I noticed that through August the ship isn't stopping in Mazatlan (replaced by another day in Cabo) but in September it changes back to a stop in Mazatlan. :confused3 I guess we'll see as it gets closer.

The last time I did this cruise we didn't get to go to Mazatlan becasue the captain backed the ship in to the pier in Puerta Vallarta and broke a big hole in the back of the ship and we had to stay in Puerta Vallarta 2 days until they fixed it and the ship was deemed sea worth. :scared1:

Yikes--that is totally scary looking! And the same ship hit another one the week before? I would be interested to know if that captain is still on the ship when you go back in October! Sounds like he is not a very good driver!

I just spent an hour and a half at The Container Store. I swear--I have avoided that store like the plague because I knew it would be like crack--and I was right. I went in to get one jar to make preserved lemons and walked out with three large bags of stuff!

Now I'm at the office "working"--ha ha!

Hope all is well with everyone--Andrea and Kathy this is definitely one chunky lady who will NOT be running with you!:rolleyes1

Do you get paid for that or is it volunteer? Sounds like it would be nice to do!

I volunteer. I've done it for 10 years now and it's very rewarding. I have 4 kids and was on bedrest with all 4. With my son I was hospitalized (and completely bedridden) for 2 1/2 months. I swear I would have lost it if it wasn't for my "bedrest buddy".
