Hi fellow Disneyaddicts. I've been to Disneyworld at least 15 times over the past 20 years. This is the first time I will be going in August. Everyone keeps telling me that the weather is brutal. We aren't staying on Disney property, for the first time. I'm traveling with my hubby, 14 year old son and his friend. Any tips I should know about Disneyworld during the summer? I have always been there the week after Thanksgiving, when the crowds are few and the weather is beautiful. I can't wait to go, but I'm freaking out a bit. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marcy

Marcy,

Scroll down the thread page. Their are a couple of August/summer threads that will answer your questions. I can tell you the obvious...go early and drink lots of water. :sunny:

Hi fellow August traveler! We leave tomorrow! We have been to WDW before during the summer (June and August) and the heat is brutal. Our plan is to get to the parks early, dress in light colored clothing, bring along a spray bottle/mister fan, fill our water bottles with great regularity and keep sipping that cool hydration all day long, take breaks in a/c'd buildings where we can sit down and cool off, use fastpasses as much as humanly possible, and take along a washcloth to wipe off the sweat and grime during the day. Not sure yet about a break back at the hotel during the afternoon but that's definitely a possibility with a return to one of the parks after a nap or dip in the pool. :smooth: Hope some of those ideas help you out but maybe you already planned on most of them. Have a good one!

hey, fellow LI'er!! :wave2:
we've been going the last week of august, as we will again this year.
it's hot, but just about the same as the weather we've been having at home lately. (personally, i found october too cold :cold: in fla ~ i want lotsa :sunny: on vacation!)
if the heat gets to be too much, go into some indoor atractions (ice station cool!), stores, restaurants for some A/C & relief. & drink lots of fluids.

we norm hit the parks in early AM, go back to the resort & swim, etc, to avoid the "hottest" times, & back to the parks around 4PM.
crowds are managable ~ we norm do MK late in day, when it gets "emptier", WS in EPCOT early, & will hop to another park if one is just too crowded.
have a great time!

Words of warning. Rain, rain, rain. If you're planning a waterpark day, go first thing in the AM. That way when the afternoon rain rolls in, you've already had your fun and can go back to your hotel. :)
