Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

page 556-557

We'll be staying at Beach Club from 11th to 26th October for the first time. In fact it's our first time staying on any Disney property. This forum has been invaluable to me, thank you all for taking the time to be so helpful and friendly!

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS. Thanks for coming out of lurkdom and sharing your kind words!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

We will be staying at BC 12/17-23. First time at Beach Club. Stayed at CSR previously. We aren't coming specifically for the Christmas activities, but should we make time for them anyway? My boys barely remember the first time we came, so I was planning to focus on the essential Disney sights.

:woohoo:

We are staying at the BC 8/24 thru 9/3. Some days we will spend the first half of the day around the pool. We have a 13, 13 and 7 year old. Do they have things for them to do around the pool area. Is it mostly swimming/slides or are there activities?

There are activities at the pool. See the scheduled posted on Page 1, Post 4 for the monthly list. The August schedule should be available in early August.

Thank you! I have been following for years and thought it was time to create an account. Do you know how I can change my account so my name doesn't appear, but maybe an alias disney fun name?

Looks like you were successful! Did you have to contact one of the moderators or is there a way to do that yourself?

Hi Everybody. I haven't been on the boards since moving ... hurts too much. But today I went on and saw so many of my friends. I miss you all so much. I am adjusting to my "new normal" but miss my Florida life horribly.
Hi Teena, It is great to see you posting again. I miss not seeing you in the lobby. :( I'm sorry that we will miss you by a week.

Next month we are staying at the Beach Club for the first time, having previously always stayed at AKL or WL. So, we are going out of our comfort zone. Have we done the right thing? Eeek!!
We love both the BC and the WL. The one thing you will probably miss at the BC is Roaring Forks. It has a better selection than the BC Marketplace. But you will be able to walk to Epcot and DHS from the BC. And there are a lot of restaurants in walking distance. You aren't limited to the ones at the resort. Just be sure to have park hoppers so you can go in and out of Epcot. :)

What are the chances of seeing fireworks from the balcony if we book a standard studio at beach club villas? Also any suggestions on what to request? Ideally we would prefer closer to transportation not ground floor and a quieter room. I guess that negates the fireworks?
There are a lot of rooms that face Epcot and you might be able to see the high fireworks through the trees, especially if you get a high floor. There is a better view from the bridge between the Boardwalk and BC. :)

If you request a room near the lobby then you will be close to transportation. The bus stop is a little closer to the lobby of the BCV than to the BC lobby.

Happy 4th July all!

I'm now 49 Days out... I can now start the online check in process! A few questions, if I may...

The address they have on the system is my travel agents address, not my own (its a US agent, I live in the UK). - Do I need to change it, or leave it as it is?

In the Room & Amenity requests, do I just make sure it matches exactly what I typed in our touring plans fax request?

Once I've done this, will I need to do anything else closer to the time? We wont have our magic bands due to being from the UK, so we'll need to go to front desk at check in anyway...

We live in the U.S. and we always change the address to our home address. That way our Magic Bands get mailed to our home and the address on the reservation is the same as the address listed in our MDE account.

I would make sure that the online requests don't contradict the Touring Plans requests. But I have been told that they can see both requests when they are assigning rooms.

The only thing I do when it is closer to the time to go is to double check the online check in to make sure they have the correct credit card information and address.

The Admin Community Manager assisted me. She was very prompt!

I just read through all of the construction updates and it looks like the refurb at Beach Club Villas should be complete when we go in Jan 2017 correct?

Hi All,
Just thought I would let you all know that I was able to score some of the old H2O Bath aquatics lotion they used to have in the BC, before it was replaced with the Grapefruit scent. I know it has been discontinued and it's VERY hard to find in WDW or even online, but the Disney store had some. They haven't offered it for a long time...I know many of you LOVE it like I do. I ration it out and use it when I need a Beach Club "hit", lol! I wouldn't admit that anywhere else but here. :goodvibes

I changed our Thanksgiving plans from the BC to the AKL. We are staying in March at the BC and DD really wanted to stay at the AKL. We haven't stayed there since she was little and she's very excited. I saw it was available with the FD and made the switch. Guess I'll have to wait till March for the BC :sad1:

Can you please remove me from the November list thanks so much. I will still be following along anxiously awaiting for March :D

You are correct. I believe they are shooting for a completion date of late August, early fall 2016.

Thanks much! I am SO overwhelmed and trying to take it all in with all the things I need to figure out. It will be our first time at BC and first time renting DVC. All the help is VERY much appreciated.

So very happy right now, was able to book Beach Club, club level for January 21-28 with a cast rate. Was able to get 3 rooms for my husband and me, my son and his family, my son's friend and their family. It is the friends first trip. It will be so much fun. My granddaughter, Lucy's best friend is one of the first timers and it will be a surprise trip to celebrate Claire's birthday. The girls will not know about it unti they see each other at the airport.

So, Jim and I go in December and then "have" to go in January so everyone gets my discount on the room!!!!

Have you booked the Magical Express? We'd assumed our UK travel agent had done it on our behalf, but they hadn't, so it is worth checking.

We booked everything ourselves, and we're actually flying in from the Bahamas, so I always knew this would be on me to book. Still deciding on hire car vs taking uber's everywhere...

Can anyone elaborate on transportation to parks? I know Epcot is a no brainer with a short walk, but how are buses to MK & AK? Boat and walk are the only options to HS right? Staying at the villas, it is quite a hike to the bus stop? I know Yacht and Beach club share a bus correct? I assume it stops at Yacht then Beach?

Some good news though. After our week at Anna Maria Island (July 23-30), instead of flying home from Tampa, Jeanne, Lily and I are driving to Port Canaveral and hopping on the Disney Fantasy for a week. It will be Lily's first cruise and she is beyond excited. When I told her last week, she immediately starting packing and has been repacking and rearranging her pile of things to take ever since. I cannot tell you all how happy I am to be going back on board my happy place.

I miss everybody so much ... for 12 years I saw most of you every year or so and it became part of my life.

I am thrilled that I am going to meet up with some of you when I'm there with Lily in September!!! I wish more of you were going to be there at the same time!

I haven't posted pictures of the new house yet because Jeanne still has boxes everywhere. Hopefully before we head to Anna Maria Island she will have the place unpacked.

Hugs to all!!!!!!!!!

P.S. And my new business "The Grading Nanny" is taking off like crazy ... been busy all summer too since lots of the schools here go year round. Not as much fun as being at the BC but gives me money for my trips!!

Thank you for checking in Teena. I think of you often. I recognize what a difficult transition this must be for you.
I am delighted to hear that you will be taking Lily to your beloved Castaway Cay. Please let us know how she enjoys it.
I look forward to seeing pictures of your new home when you can. It sounds like the perfect arrangement.

We stay at the BCV & I don't think it is a long walk to the bus stop at all. It is a pleasant walk. Yes the first stop is the YC followed by the BC, both directions.
Yes boat or walk to DHS. The boat dock may be a smidgen further from the Villas than the bus stop, but again not a long walk at all. The walk to the studios is a bit over 1 mile. We walk about 50% of the time, depending on the weather.
