we have booked garden/lagoon view room for dec 14-21... as that is the only dates i could get but i really want one more day. i keep checking for dec 13 but no luck - i was able to get the dec 22 added on to the end. since this is so close to christmas, i really want the 13 instead.
i see i can upgrade to a water view room for the 13-21 (more $). because we want quiet and more private, we are really hoping for that far wing (that faces the swan maybe?). it's the far corner of the resort, as far away from main resort and beach club/international gateway side as possible.
it appears from the room map view, there are very few garden view rooms... all i can see are 1012-1030, which looks like about 10 rooms on each floor. if we would be guaranteed one of those rooms, i would keep it for the discounted price and accept the dates i have.
SO does anyone know if are there more garden view rooms than just that little chunk that i see from 1012-1030? <- kinda rambling, not even sure if this makes sense!

Thanks for posting the picture of the new fence at the beach. I was very curious to see what they were going to do there. I don't think that the fence looks bad at all. The water never looked too appealing anyway.

Before I head off to work, I am reposting a warning from one of my TA friends about a recent scam that has been hitting the Orlando area:
A call will come to your room, and they will say it's the front desk, they WILL have your name so it seems legit. They will say there is a credit card issue for your account, and ask if you could verify the numbers over the phone. DO NOT give the information, tell them you'll come down to the front desk and clear up the problem. They may insist to not "inconvenience" you, but stand your ground - do not give your information - it is a scam!
PS- don't order pizza from flyers slipped under your resort door!
Maybe that is in direct response to the ducks that were always present at SAB this trip...many more than I have seen before.While at Boardwalk last fall, we saw the same K9 search teams. The handlers indicated that it was to sniff out and locate duck nests. The dogs found the nests and the handlers shake the eggs so they do not hatch. When the eggs don't hatch, the duck parents move on. This was an effort to eliminate/diminish the duck population that frequently swim (and make nasty messes) in the pools and beg at guests' feet for food. While we were at Boardwalk last fall, we did notice an appreciable difference in the duck population.
They are nasty little birds when they don't get what they expect. We don't feed them and neither did anyone else, so at least we know the signs saying don't feed the birds was understood and adhered to. I like to see the ducks and often get over to Tom Sawyers Island and use the bird feeders there to feed those ones with appropriate bird seed. Best advice is leave them alone and appreciate them for being themselves.

On our recent Poly trip in May, our older DS did not know if he could join us because of work commitments for that night till very last minute. I booked the studio for DH, me, and our soon to be 21 year old DS, thinking that the 1 night would be only the three of us, rather than 4 including our eldest DS. So, our 2 DS will NOT sleep together, and our 6'4 youngest DS was a great brother and let his older brother have the pullout sofa and he slept on the murphy bed.
He said the mattress was very comfortable, but BE CAREFUL to not hit your head if you get up quickly on the murphy bed. Was only for 1 night so we "made due", but we all had a BLAST at the Poly!

My husband and I just booked a little Labor Day weekend at the Beach Club without our kids! We are super pumped. We had the pleasure of doing this last year and it was amazing.
We have stayed at the Boardwalk, Contemporary and Poly several times in the last few years and are really excited to try a new hotel.
