Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I have a question, not necessarily exclusively a BC/YC question, but everyone here is so helpful. My fiancé and I do not drink pop. What other options will we have to refill our refillable mugs? What other options have you guys seen at quick service locations? I like unsweet tea and we will both do water or lemonade.

They have several kinds of iced tea. I love the unsweetened iced tea,its pretty much all I drink. Not sure what else besides coffee and soda.

Yes, you can get iced tea, lemonade, some flavors of powerade, hot coffee in addition to pop/soda.

I'm not sure if you can get filtered water through the dispenser. Anyone know?

Here's a picture of the iced tea options. I'm with you- I like it without sweetener and sugar.

Has anyone tried out the new food menu at Ale and Compass? Or know if you can order to go? I was hoping to get a burger there on our pool day instead of Hurricane Hannah's. Thanks!
You can get a very delicious Angus burger with fries at Crews Cup lounge. And the lounge tends to be mostly empty at lunch time.

The lemonade they offer in the drink dispenser is diet lemonade. The pomegranate lemonade that they serve in the restaurants is diet lemonade, too. One of my biggest complaints about WDW is the lack of real lemonade in the parks and resorts. But you can buy real lemonade in the BC Marketplace. They sell it by the bottle.

where is the secret entrance?

Step-Saving Super-Secret Entrance to the Beach Club

Near Room 1501, there is a side entrance/exit to the Beach Club which takes you mere steps, probably 3 minutes, from the International Gateway entrance to EPCOT.

This can be a really handy way in or out of the BC if it is wicked hot or raining.

You have to go through a lot of hallways to find it, so the best way to do this is to follow the signs to Room 1501 from the lobby.

Here are some photos of the exit door near Room 1501, the pathway and the gate to the "secret entrance"

Unfortunately, the lounge won't work for us as we'll have our 4 and 7 year old with us and they don't have a kids menu. Based on the new Ale and Compass menu, I think they might be serving food from the lounge. So, I was hoping to grab burgers to go for DH and I while he gets the kids chicken strips from HH.

We ate lunch there with grandchildren who were age 6 and 8 and they split the burger. But it would be more convenient to get a burger to go from the Ale and Compass, if they do that.

hi guys! i was on this thread last year when i had booked to stay at the YC in dec... sad i had to cancel due to the terrible shape of the canadian dollar. well i managed to get free dining for the same week at the YC this year - so it must be "meant to be", right??

anyway, please add me to be my guest list... our dates are dec 14 to dec 21 and i hope this year our dream does come true.

off to check out what i have missed, specifically YC refurb updates... i could be lost in this thread for days! :D

:welcome:

So glad you were able to book a trip!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

We will be returning to the Beach Club Nov. 7-10. Looking forward to Food and Wine again this year!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list!

:woohoo:

We stayed at BC in '14 but that was before the room reno's.

Question: How has the room reno changed the available drawer space in the rooms? We are 5 people to the room. 4 adults and a 16 yr old. (so not itty bitty kids with their tiny clothes) We will be in a room with a daybed, if that makes a difference to the answer. I noticed that where the tall dresser used to be, there is now a cabinet with frig and coffee maker on top. So less drawers due to that. I see the console under the TV but would really like to know what drawer space I can expect with that. I've looked at youtube videos but none of them open those drawers/cabinet under the tv. In '14 I brought along one of those thingies that hang inside a closet and provides "shelf space" ( http://www.walmart.com/ip/Honey-Can-Do-6-Shelf-Hanging-Organizer-Bamboo/20519598 ) Wondering if i will need to buy another 1 or 2 of those.

Also, how is the new daybed? My DD was very comfortable in the old one. Is this one just as comfortable?

TIA!

HockeyMomR used the daybed during our August 2015 girls trip and she declared the daybed in the Beach Club renovated room to be very comfortable.

I actually don't think I have many room pictures from that trip. I was too busy watching my back (I was rooming with ~Ninjamom).

:rotfl:

We're coming! We were originally booked for POR, but when free dining was released (and not offered at POR during our dates) I couldn't pass up the opportunity to bump up to deluxe. We'll be at BC from 12/13-12/20. I am beyond excited.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 (Post 15).

Please let us know if you have any questions.

:cool2:

Do any of the Garden / Woods View rooms in Beach Club Resort have a view of Illuminations from the balcony at night? If so, is it possible to make a request for a room with a view of Illuminations?

:welcome: to the thread!

Do you have a trip booked? When?

:cool1:

As others have mentioned, you can see some Illuminations fireworks from a garden/woods view room. I guess the request for that would be "Room facing EPCOT, please"

::yes::

We stayed at the YC on the August magical deal, which was standard view category. They are booked through Disney group travel who handle conference/convention and other large groups - hence the pricing.
That said, we arrived in our room to find that we were overlooking the water, looking straight down the Friendship boat dock at The Boardwalk actually, not exactly standard. :cloud9:

Not sure if you have posted recently-- :welcome: back!

Thanks for your input.

:thumbsup2

The 5th floor of that wing is done. When I left on May 8th the other floors were still walled off. I walked through the first floor hallway one evening (construction guys had left the door open) and not much had been done in those rooms. A CM told me they are working top down so I would expect that one or more additional floors will be done by the time you arrive.

:welcome: to the thread and posting on the DIS.

THANK YOU so much for the latest info on the BCV renos!

::yes::

Going to try and share this video of The Beach Club that Disney posted!!! Watching it makes me happy :)

Nicely Done!

Folks, a reminder.....when you're referencing a travel agency or other business, you must use the full URL of the business. Using nicknames for a banned business to bypass the word filter and promote that business is not permitted, and will either get your post deleted without comment, or will result in infraction points. It's fine to say "I got an agency exclusive deal," or "I got a great deal through my travel agent."

That's a good question. I assume that IPO (Itinerary Planning Office) will contact you directly even though you booked through a travel agency. Perhaps others will share their experience and correct me if I am wrong.

Now that I am thinking about it, if you have to place your room requests via the TA, do you have to make contact to IPO through them, too? What about if you book through a third party like Orbitz or Travelocity?

Here is my experience- I booked a CL reservation in January for a trip in October (with Disney). I did not contact CL and they sent me an email a couple of weeks before my 180 day reservation date, with a contact form for me to fill out and to indicate if I wanted them to make reservations for me.

As it turned out, I was away during my ADR day, they made all of the reservations I wanted and had notified my by 7:20 that morning.

I believe there are 8 or 9 BC CL GV rooms, all with full balconies in that category. Not sure where all of them are located, but many overlook the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard. These rooms would be fairly close to the lounge.

:thumbsup2

Thank you! We are about 30 days out so I don't expect to hear from the concierge. I may send them an email but also mention I didn't book direct. It sounds like we *should* have a balcony with the GV CL so no biggie. I am so excited for our trip!

hi lynne, so sorry for that... i am a relatively newer poster and was just referencing things how i have seen them referred to. won't do it again and don't know what infraction points are but i am sure i don't want them. :)

Unfortunately, my kids don't like burgers - no red meat unless it's a steak :sad2:

Hi Dee! Thanks for the warm welcome back. :)

(had replied earlier but got deleted for a slip of the lips... oops!;))

Beach Club Review

This was our first time staying at the Beach Club and now we don’t plan to stay anywhere else. From the moment we arrived on the Magic Express we felt at home. My Disney TA booked us a BCV studio for 5 nights. We were able to snag an updated room (566) and loved the big corner balcony. The room was light and pretty with white wood and granite counters. The fold down bed with the Donald Duck background was adorable.(Sorry I did not take a picture) My husband said, “This is the best I have slept in years.”

The pool was the best part for our almost 5-year-old daughter. She loved Stormalong bay so much we skipped the park the last day to hang at the pool. The drinks at Hurricane Hannah’s were yummy especially the Sunken Treasure. We ate breakfast in our room each morning using groceries from the market. The prices were not much more than a regular grocery store. The only restaurant we tried out was Captain’s Grille at Yacht Club for Mickey Waffles. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were delicious. Our server Sean was very sweet, polite and friendly. All the staff we dealt with were polite, helpful and friendly. We have been home a week now and I asked my daughter last night, when we go back where do you want to stay? She said, “Only the Beach Club.”

We loved the 5-minute walk to Epcot and the 20-minute walk to Hollywood Studios. We took the boat one day but it took more time then walking. We used park hopper passes and they came in handy. We ate dinner 3 nights in Epcot and enjoyed the illuminations show. See you all in 2018 if not sooner!!

Time to start budgeting for some DVC points! It's in your future, whether you realize it now or not.... ;)

It's a HAPPY Disney day for my DD (22). She graduated college Friday night and it taking a trip with two of her friends to Disney to celebrate. As part of her grad celebration I upgraded them from a moderate to a Deluxe for part of her gift. They choose Beach Club and have been very excited for the past several months as the trip has approached.

This morning she gets a call from WDW. They have been upgraded to CLUB level at the Yacht Club for the next 8 nights!! CRAZY AWESOME!! I've been 31 times never have had an upgrade and she is taking two girls who have never been and magic strikes!!

What a great way to start what I hope will be a truly magical vacation for them!!
