Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Just returned from my trip to YC concierge level. A few notes:

We stayed in the CL standard view room #5216. The view wasn't bad, mostly trees.

The renovated concierge lounge is almost ready. I tried to sneak a few pictures for you, but I sort of got caught and the pictures were all blurry. They have taken an adjacent guest room and turned it into counters for serving the food. The old lounge area looks very open and full of tables. The cabinets and trim are a nice bright white. The flooring where the food is served is a pretty charcoal tile with a sort of wood looking grain. The bathroom across the hall has been made larger and has a pretty tiles on the wall. Of course this was all I could see from the few times the workers left the doors open.
:)

Thanks for the report! We'll be there next Wednesday, can't wait to see it. Although, I have to say I was looking forward to seeing the Presidential Suite. A little disappointed about missing the only chance I'll ever get to see that! ;) We'll be booking a bounceback for next September. Looking forward to seeing the nice new rooms then.

Okay, shameless plug but I just wanted to see my countdown clock again.

Anyone there next weekend that sees a guy who looks a lot like Carl Fredricksen sitting around the pool or taking pictures of that train display in the YC lobby (a favorite of mine) please say hi.
Katesdad

Were you there when Lou Mongello came through the YC lobby with his posse on Saturday? They were doing a live stream from the Boardwalk, to the BC lobby, then to the YC lobby. Around 2PM?

Headed down this morning. Sorry I missed the parade.

I had a dream the other night that we got moved from AKV to the BC for our January trip and were put up in the presidential suite. I kept pointing to the pool and saying "sand bottom!" DH asked where the zebras were. I said, "but we can walk to Epcot and we have free booze at night." He just asked why we didn't have a washer and dryer in the room. Sadly, I think that's exactly how he'd act in real life.

For what it may be worth, the DVC Annual Meeting was this week and I found these notes regarding the comments made on Beach Club Villa's refurbishment. The bullet is specific to BCV but the remaining items sound like general statements...
  • Disney's Beach Club Villas - project was delayed from 2015 to allow designers additional time for planning. Renovations to bathroom were not originally planned, but have since been added to this project. Bathroom renvoation will include new tile work, showers and a soaker tub. Scheduled to begin in January 2016.
New room designs will reflect lighter, brighter color palattes as requested by members, along with other design changes intended to bring the rooms in-line with changing industry trends and member expectations.

Other in-room changes members should expect to see during refurbishments include the addition of more power outlets and USB charging ports, lighting enhancements designed to make rooms brighter, lighted makeup mirrors, larger televisions--ranging from 55" in Deluxe Studio villas up to 65" models in larger rooms--and larger in-room safes designed to accommodate average size laptop computers. Sleeping accommodations for a 5th guest will also be added when feasible.

BUT, will I get a 10 or 12 cup coffee maker instead of the 4 cup in my BCV studio????!!!!!

Well, this may be TMI, but we're all friends here...

On Monday I had a colonoscopy (routine)- "YAY, 50!!!

When I was under the anesthesia, I dreamed about Disney. I don't know exactly what, but that's when you know you got it bad!

:sad2:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this info!

I hope Disney-Santa brings a larger coffee maker to the studios.

Or perhaps Disney-Easter Bunny.

Hoping to stop by our beloved BC on Sunday to see Teena. I miss BC, the kids and I were saying we need to stay there this summer. I haven't changed anything just yet (shocking I know). Tara and Dee, I usually dream Disney :grouphug:

Received the confirmation # today. Crazy, but heading for a conference at Yacht Club, but 1st week of July:crazy2: (July 3-10) That should be interesting crowd wise!

Non-BC specific question, but when do the luggage tags typically get sent out? I'm just realizing our trip is only 3 weeks away and we haven't received our luggage tags yet. I'll give them a call tomorrow, but thought I'd check here to see when people typically receive them.

I've heard people say that they are in the Magic Band box, under the bands.

I believe the ME bag tags and transportation info get mailed out about a month before your scheduled departure. With the slower mail, this time of year, the envelope is probably on its way to you. You can call the ME phone number to confirm...they are very responsive. If you are concerned, they may just offer to send another set of tags. When I scheduled a trip on short notice, the tags were even sent via expedited delivery. ME requires a minimum notice of about 10 days, in order for them to send out bag tags.

The Magic Bands are completely separate. If I remember correctly, those get shipped from one of the Carolinas. The ME docs are sent by Mears.
