Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I see a LOT of people here saying the received a room upgrade at BC and YC. Did you inquire for one? Was this given due to an issue of some sort? Is it just a more common thing at certain resorts/categories? I've stayed on property 10 times and never had it happen. I totally get it would be a huge bonus and I am happy nonetheless, but if there's hope...I'd love to hear about it!

With all my visits this is the first time we have received an upgrade. There was a huge seed conference going on the week we were there so we were thinking they took all the standard rooms and that may have been why we were upgraded. But we don't know for sure why we received it.
We did online checkin and never went to the desk to check in. I received the text our room was ready while we were on the mickey express and I had A copy of the room map with me and saw we had been upgraded! When I checked my mde account it did in fact say pool/lagoon view.

Room upgrades usually happen when the resort has a need, for instance if it has oversold rooms in one category, they will upgrade guests in that category. Sometimes upgrades are a result of "pixie dust"- if there are rooms available in an higher category than someone has booked, the room assigners or other CMs have the discretion to upgrade guests.

But from what I have been told, guest who inquire about a free upgrade are the least likely to get one. If you are willing to pay for an upgrade, you can ask at checkin how much it would be to change your booking category.

:goodvibes
We've never asked and never had a room issue where we would be compensated in any way. Just making the observation that it feels like about half of the people posting here say they got one and that's an awful lot of pixie dust, from a probability standpoint. I figured I was missing something! Do you think it hurts your chances if you do the room ready text?

Oh I just asked if the room ready text would prevent it from happening, but I guess not! We usually do that just as a convenience, but I would stop at the desk if I had to for anything. I have my fingers crossed a bit for this coming trip as we have 5 people and will have to have a daybed room, so if those are all gone in our category (Garden), maybe it would happen.

I think it is more of a case of an overbooking situation- quite often we hear that guests have been able to see an upgrade in their MDE accounts a day or two before the trips, so I don't necessarily think it matters if you have requested a room to be ready or not.

Between my daughter and I we have had 6 different rooms since the bc makeover and all of them had the new couch/daybed in them. We have never opened it up since we don't need it but I was wondering if they put them in all the rooms during the makeover? We have been only 2 to a room with the exception of this last trip where my daughter, son in law, grandson (who slept in a pack n play) and my other daughter shared a room.
I am just wondering since we didn't need the extra bed but got a room with it each time.

Trattoria al Forno to offer Character Breakfast Spring 2017

RapunzelandFlynnFI-1.jpg

A brand-new Character dining experience like no other is set to make its debut late this Spring at Trattoria al Forno; the Italian restaurant on Disney’s BoardWalk. Adventurous royal couples from beloved Disney films such as Flynn Ryder and Rapunzel from “Tangled” and Ariel and Prince Eric from “The Little Mermaid” will be in attendance. If you’ve never tried the outstanding breakfast offerings at this location, this should tempt you enough to do so!

The opening date, when you can make reservations, and menu offerings have not been announced yet, but keep an eye out as we will share more details as they become available.

Can't wait to read more about this. We Loves character breakfasts. Plus we are staying at Boardwalk Villas.

Hey guys...here's the deal with the We the People pillow. The pictures posted in the link above are mine. The pillow is not part of the room décor but was a pillow we bought and the mousekeepers had left it on the bed when they made it.

OMG! That's HILARIOUS! It just goes to show you how much we love our Beach and Yacht Club resorts. I think the next time I stay at the resort I'm going to plant a clown face pillow in the room and say they are changing the theme to match the Boardwalk Inn. Now THAT would really be something...

I read a post somewhere (maybe here but not sure) from someone saying that they stayed at Beach Club with a room close to Cape May and there was always a fish smell in the hallways. Anyone else experience that? Trying to figure out room requests if we stay at Beach Club this November instead of Yacht. Thanks
We had a room that was above Ariel's, which is next to Cape May. We never smelled a fishy smell but when we sat on the balcony in the morning we could smell them cooking breakfast for Cape May. We were in room 3705.

If you book a garden/ woods view room then you have just about a zero chance of getting a room anywhere near Cape May. The rooms near Cape May are standard view and some club view rooms.

It seems as if room upgrades happen more frequently at the deluxe resorts than moderate and value. We've had some upgrades at the BC, but not very often at any of the other deluxe resorts that we have stayed at. Although we did get a nicer view at the GF after the CM decided to find a nice view for us. We didn't ask for one, we just went to inquire when our room would be ready. So she started searching and gave us the nice view. :)

We got a nice lagoon view upgrade and we always do the online check in. :)

It seems like the BC has a lot of rooms with daybeds. The rooms that have dormer balconies or are smaller than a regular resort room seem to be the ones that don't have daybeds. We've had daybeds in our room many times and there are just two of us. :)

I'm glad to hear the renovations started. I booked the Beach Club for October 21st to October 29th but i am paying rack rate for a lagoon/pool view. When discounts come out (last year it was the end of April) I would be willing to change over to the yacht club if a discount was involved but only if I knew I would be getting a renovated room (which i know there is no guarantee of that). I have not stayed at the beach club in my last 4 trips. I have started off booking my vacations at beach club and then a discount would come out and its actually been less $ when promotions are coming out during food and wine to stay at the grand for obvious reason (not being close to epcot) the beach club is my favorite hotel and we have not stayed there in quite some time I may just wind up keeping the reservations regardless of a discount or not but just wanted to know the status of the yacht club renovations.

You can add me to the Be our Guest List for October October 21st to 29th at the Beach Club.

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list!

I hope we see some discounts for stays at the resort.

As soon as I have any definitive news on the renovations, I'll post it.

Hey guys...here's the deal with the We the People pillow. The pictures posted in the link above are mine. The pillow is not part of the room décor but was a pillow we bought and the mousekeepers had left it on the bed when they made it. Overall I liked the rooms but missed the nautical feel of the old rooms. But it was very comfortable and had tons of storage. We stayed in this room in December and were told it was one of two that had been renovated. Any questions, please ask!

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

Thanks so much for clearing up the controversy about the pillow.

:rotfl2:

Also appreciative that you made the pictures posted available to the public. Thanks!

I am not fond of the new decor at the YC, loved the old headboards

:welcome: to the thread- thanks for your comments.

We got back from a week at the bc on Friday night. We checked in on Saturday Jan 28. We had booked a standard room with the only request being connecting rooms with my daughter's room so we could have access when we babysat. We got the connecting rooms and we were both upgraded to pool/lagoon view rooms. We had 3543 and 3545. Loved the view that looked out over the quiet pool and also could see the lake and boardwalk and the location was great too. We could also see the SW fireworks.

We had a great vacation. We took our 10 month old grandson to garden grille and he loved the character interaction. We also did breakfast at crystal Palace and in Norway. It was so much fun.

He didn't sleep well but we all took turns walking him around the hotel when he woke up at 4am o_O The solarium was a life saver to let him walk/crawl around and not bother anyone.

Parks were more crowded than I had expected but we were taking it slow anyways.

We had great mousekeeping service. No complaints there. One early morning while I was walking my dgs around I stopped to ask if either one of our rooms could have a late check out. The cm checked 3543 and said that room could not and then checked 3545 and said that room could. So we got a late check out which helped us since we had a later flight home.

Weather started out pretty cold but warmed up as the week went. All in all it was a very fun week and am thinking about when to plan a return visit.

We appreciate your review! Glad your trip turned out great. I know you had concerns about noise from the baby disturbing your fellow guests, but it sounds like you found great solutions. Thank you for your consideration!

Any chance that you have photos of your room view to share, either here or by email? beachclubdee at yahoo.

Hi! DH and I will be staying at the Beach Club May 25th-31st, can we be added to the 'Be our Guest' list? I'll be spending a lot of time looking at this thread to make the most of our stay!

That's great to hear! I was hoping that daybeds would be added to the BC (and YC) rooms whenever possible, but I haven't heard if that was actually done. It is good to hear your observations that you have been assigned to many rooms that have daybeds since the refurb.

Has anyone been able to book Captain's Grille. I think they must not be taking summer ADRs due to renovations.
Since CG is temporarily moving over to Ariel's, due to refurbishment, the system is not yet set up to book ADRs after 05/14/2017. CMs are not even able to do so. Probably the best advice is to just keep checking. Maybe they have not yet figured out seating configuration or capacity at Ariel's, or perhaps they want to be sure that the construction will actually start, as scheduled. We all know how accurate they are with construction schedules at the resorts. :)

We have received an upgrade once at YC (and have stayed on property many times without.) Ours was from an AP rate garden view to a lagoon view. It was a one night stay. I have heard that short stays tend to be upgraded more often. This makes sense from the standpoint of overselling certain views. Funny thing was, it didn't dawn on me that we had been upgraded until we left. It was our first stay at YC, and I had to look up the view categories after thinking how awesome the "garden" view right over the lagoon to the Boardwalk was. The cm did not mention the upgrade at check in.

We had it happen one time at Boardwalk....I was SO fixated on getting a Standard view where we could see the Epcot FW from our balcony, that when the CM offered us a Water View, it didn't click in my mind how much Pixie Dust he had bestowed on us....until we got to our room! I was almost disappointed because we wanted a Standard, until it hit me. DUH!!!

Wow...we couldn't see the Epcot FW, but we could see the SW FW at HS, MK Wishes off in the distance, the Boardwalk, and the boats coming and going. And if we wanted to see the Epcot ones, we just headed to the balcony over the back steps, and watched.

You can bet I wrote a nice note to Guest Services commenting on our upgrade when we got home!

May I ask where you bought the pillow? I like it :D

Hi, new to the thread! We are considering an early August trip to the BC, this year. I've heard that the bus stop at the BC was temporarily moved to the Villas. Is that still happening? If so, is there an estimated date when the bus stop will move back to the BC? How inconvenient is this move?

They're done with the bus stop refurb. When we were there in Dec. the bus stop was back to it's normal location.

I just got a new hairspray that the smell reminds me of the beach club. Kept me happy all day! Now if someone could point me to the link to buy the home melts that smell like beach club? I am in serious disney/beach club back home blues.
