Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Hey guys...here's the deal with the We the People pillow. The pictures posted in the link above are mine. The pillow is not part of the room décor but was a pillow we bought and the mousekeepers had left it on the bed when they made it. Overall I liked the rooms but missed the nautical feel of the old rooms. But it was very comfortable and had tons of storage. We stayed in this room in December and were told it was one of two that had been renovated. Any questions, please ask!
I am not fond of the new decor at the YC, loved the old headboards

Was there any artwork on the walls yet? Maybe they will add some Disney touches there?

From the DIS newsline- I would love to hear about it if anyone tries it out!

Thanks to an absolutely insane AP deal, my kiddo and I are on the Club Level at YC June 3 - 10. We were there back in 2015, before the lounge was renovated, and I wondered how different it is now?

Watching this thread and looking forward to more updates!!! :thumbsup2

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:cool1:

I had my first YC CL stay in October. My previous stays have been at the BC, regular and CL stays. We loved it! I have a link with a lot of pictures in Post 12 on Page 1 of this thread.

:thumbsup2

Do all the renovated YC rooms have hand-held sprayers in addition to the overhead shower heads? Am looking at a photo on AllEars. Thanks a lot. I don't think the new BC rooms have them.

:welcome: back!

As Hopefully pointed out, renovations are just starting. From what I have heard, the designs we are seeing are prototype rooms and the final design is subject to change.

Do you have an upcoming trip?

:goodvibes

Dee? Why do you hate me?

You know I love you, buddy!!!

I promise never to dress as a clown to scare you!

Oooooh! DF's favorite princess is Ariel, and we've always wanted to get inside Ariel's, and this is a perfect opportunity, but it begs the question, is YC lobby currently or about to be a warzone? If so, what's going on with Ale and Compass?

Speaking of Ariel... Have you seen the news about the new character meal over at La Trattoria al Forno at the BW? I'll post a link in just a moment.

::yes::

Thank you! Super convenient for us for our August 2017 trip. We loved having a TS restaurant in the YC that we could get ADRs for at the last minute if needed during our last two trips. Will miss the magic pictures unless they haul them along. LOL

You won't be missing much... The magic moving pictures have not been reliably operational for the past couple of years. They were stationary for some time, then I think last I knew they were working, but I'm not positive.

Hello everyone!

I am new to this board because I had originally been hoping to stay at the Poly for our upcoming trip via DVC point rentals. Based on our dates and the number of points required and available, it did not seem likely, so we moved onto our second choice, which is the Beach Club Villas.

We will be staying at the BCV Jan 1 - 6, 2018 before we head out on our 7-Day Western Caribbean Disney Cruise. I am really excited for this trip and while BCV was on our list of desirable resorts, I don't know that much about it and we hadn't planned to visit Epcot when I thought we would be staying at the Poly.

A little bit about us and our trip. DH and I have two kids who will be 7.5 (boy) and 5 (girl) when we travel. We are Canadian, so even though I have been warned that weather in Florida can be on the cool side in early January, we know that the pools will get use by our family! My kids love to swim and for those who have been on DCL, the pools are not exactly the draw, which made the pool at WDW more important. The pools at BC look great and it was one of the reasons I was excited to book it.

We have a 5-day pass that I may add a park hopper to so that we can go in and out of Epcot since it is so close, but we had really only planned one park per day. We love to eat and although TS meals take up a lot of time, we find it relaxing and a great break from the crowds and action of the parks. We don't feel like we need to do and see everything at each park because we know we will be back.

Any advice anyone can offer about BCV would be great. We have a studio and know it will be tight, but are not going to be over-packed since we need to fit everything in our cruise stateship. This means doing laundry will be a must!

Anyways, I look forward to reading the boards and hearing about your experiences.

Best,

Brandy

:welcome: Brandy!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

As others have pointed out, when you get a moment, please check out the first page of this thread, especially the first post and Posts 13 (FAQ) and 14 (Other Useful Information).

The pool can be hit or miss in January, but it is heated, so I hope you and your family are able to enjoy it!

:fish:

I will second (or third) the vote for Park Hoppers. There are so many dining options, some of my favorite quick serve locations in the World, just a few minutes away in EPCOT. Also, if you happen to be back as the resort in the evening, it is easy to slip into EPCOT right before Illuminations, grab a spot by the bridge between UK and France, watch the show and be back in your room before 9:30!

They have officially started. Not sure where they stand but would be interested to know -- I'm planning a trip this November and prefer Yacht Club, but also want a water view room, and at this point only garden view are available, which I assume is because of the renovation. Anyone heard when water view rooms might be available again at Yacht?

page 776

I read a post somewhere (maybe here but not sure) from someone saying that they stayed at Beach Club with a room close to Cape May and there was always a fish smell in the hallways. Anyone else experience that? Trying to figure out room requests if we stay at Beach Club this November instead of Yacht. Thanks

Not sure when water view rooms will be available for booking or if the problem is due to the upcoming room renovations. If they will be doing the rehab floor by floor, some water view rooms will be worked on at the same time some will be available. If it is wing by wing, then maybe some of the wings will have a large percentage of water view rooms, but there should still be some at the resort available for booking.

There have been occasional mentions of a fishy smell in some of the hallways near/above Cape May Café. I don't think anyone has said the smell has bothered them in their rooms, but correct me if I am wrong, friends.

I think a request of "away from lobby" or "wing close to EPCOT" or maybe "upper floor" would be the likeliest rooms to avoid the impact of unwanted aroma.

:thumbsup2

So exited to ask to be added back to the Be Our Guest list! After jumping ship (ha ha) on our April YC reservation, we just booked 3 nights at BC in October!! We've always stayed at the YC, so I'm excited to give the light side a try! Now to just hope the school calendar lines up with our booking! :)

October 26-29 BC

:welcome: back!!!

Happy to be adding you to the list.

:woohoo:

Trattoria al Forno to offer Character Breakfast Spring 2017

RapunzelandFlynnFI-1.jpg

A brand-new Character dining experience like no other is set to make its debut late this Spring at Trattoria al Forno; the Italian restaurant on Disney’s BoardWalk. Adventurous royal couples from beloved Disney films such as Flynn Ryder and Rapunzel from “Tangled” and Ariel and Prince Eric from “The Little Mermaid” will be in attendance. If you’ve never tried the outstanding breakfast offerings at this location, this should tempt you enough to do so!

The opening date, when you can make reservations, and menu offerings have not been announced yet, but keep an eye out as we will share more details as they become available.

Hello Dee , It's been awhile but I was wondering if you would add me to the Be our Guest list . I will be going back to the Beach Club twice . 06/30 - 07/08 and then again from 07/27 - 08/06 .
Although I have many friends at he resort it is just not the same without Teena . :eeyore:

I have to say that my heart sunk to my stomach when I heard that Capt. Grille was closing down for awhile as this is my go to place for breakfast during my stays , only to find out they are temporarily moving to Ariel's which is even better as it's closer to the Beach Club lobby . Share the kitchen with Cape May . Looking forward to going home . :beach:

Thanks a lot! No trip planned just yet, but I have long thought it would be great to have upgraded showers with handheld showerheads.

We got back from a week at the bc on Friday night. We checked in on Saturday Jan 28. We had booked a standard room with the only request being connecting rooms with my daughter's room so we could have access when we babysat. We got the connecting rooms and we were both upgraded to pool/lagoon view rooms. We had 3543 and 3545. Loved the view that looked out over the quiet pool and also could see the lake and boardwalk and the location was great too. We could also see the SW fireworks.

We had a great vacation. We took our 10 month old grandson to garden grille and he loved the character interaction. We also did breakfast at crystal Palace and in Norway. It was so much fun.

He didn't sleep well but we all took turns walking him around the hotel when he woke up at 4am o_O The solarium was a life saver to let him walk/crawl around and not bother anyone.

Parks were more crowded than I had expected but we were taking it slow anyways.

We had great mousekeeping service. No complaints there. One early morning while I was walking my dgs around I stopped to ask if either one of our rooms could have a late check out. The cm checked 3543 and said that room could not and then checked 3545 and said that room could. So we got a late check out which helped us since we had a later flight home.

Weather started out pretty cold but warmed up as the week went. All in all it was a very fun week and am thinking about when to plan a return visit.

Our mickey express bus from the airport to BC only stopped at Boardwalk, beach club and Yacht Club. No Caribbean Beach Resort stop.

On the way back to the airport I am not sure if they stopped at Yacht Club but there was no one on the bus when they picked us up at beach club then they stopped at Boardwalk and then Caribbean Beach.

This was different from our trip last October.

We took the bus to Disney Springs and it went direct once we were picked up. I don't remember if anyone was on the bus or not when we got on. Bus back stopped at YC and then dropped us off At BC. Bus ride was not bad at all.

There is a smell as you get very close to and walk by the restaurant, but it doesn't extend much beyond that. I can't say for the rooms directly above it, as I've never stayed in one, but I think that would be a very easy one to get moved if you mentioned it at the front desk. Having a fish allergy myself, I'd certainly say something if I could smell it from my room, but otherwise, it's a seafood restaurant with no walls blocking it from the lobby, so yes, there's a smell, but I've never found it bothersome.

Ahhh. I've got it. It's a fine pillow, but it didn't belong.

I have smelled the fishy odor in the hallways above Cape May or near kitchen exhaust fans, even on the 4th floor, but not in the guest room.

I see a LOT of people here saying the received a room upgrade at BC and YC. Did you inquire for one? Was this given due to an issue of some sort? Is it just a more common thing at certain resorts/categories? I've stayed on property 10 times and never had it happen. I totally get it would be a huge bonus and I am happy nonetheless, but if there's hope...I'd love to hear about it!

Room upgrades usually happen when the resort has a need, for instance if it has oversold rooms in one category, they will upgrade guests in that category. Sometimes upgrades are a result of "pixie dust"- if there are rooms available in an higher category than someone has booked, the room assigners or other CMs have the discretion to upgrade guests.

But from what I have been told, guest who inquire about a free upgrade are the least likely to get one. If you are willing to pay for an upgrade, you can ask at checkin how much it would be to change your booking category.

Hi! DH and I will be staying at the Beach Club May 25th-31st, can we be added to the 'Be our Guest' list? I'll be spending a lot of time looking at this thread to make the most of our stay!
