Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

We are leaving Thursday for our first stay and so excited. I'm assuming I know the answer to this already, but want to be sure...

We are staying through Monday and then moving over to stay at Universal. We plan to go to AK early Monday morning before catching a shuttle or Uber over to Universal. I'm assuming that we can just check out early and leave our bags with the front desk and then return to BC after our time at AK and retrieve the bags before catching our car to Universal.

Correct. Bags can be left with Bell Services. Have a fantastic trip.

Request when you check in at the front desk. If they say they can't accommodate, ask again the next day. The latest check out I'm ever given is 1:00 p.m., as they need to get rooms cleaned for 3:00 p.m. check ins. It will be more difficult to get, if they are/will be at capacity.

On my departure day, I always place the privacy card on the outside of the door, till I actually check out, so that Housekeeping does not attempt to enter. When I do depart, I move the privacy card back inside the room and advise a housekeeper working the neighboring rooms, that the room was vacated.

The Solarium can be a nice quiet place to wait, till you depart for the airport. The lobby can be somewhat hectic and noisy, at times. The exterior door of the Solarium leads out to the front drive.

Thanks you for all the suggestions. The solarium is a great suggestion too to relax with him. Only 25 more days till our check in. We have been doing adult only trips for many years now so this will be a different trip with a baby. We are planning on taking it slow and just enjoying,

I just received the following message regarding a spring 2017 stay at the YC, which was booked about one month ago:

January 2017

Dear Xxxxx Family,

We are delighted you have chosen to stay with us at Disney's Yacht Club Resort!

In an effort to continually enhance the Guest experience here at the Walt Disney World® Resort, we often refresh our offerings and atmosphere. In preparation of your upcoming stay, we wanted to make you aware of a Resort refurbishment that will be taking place during your visit. While we are working our magic, it is possible you will experience construction noise and encounter some alternative paths of travel throughout the Resort. However, to minimize any possible disruptions to your stay, work with the most potential for noise will be limited to the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm.

We anticipate that all of our unique Resort amenities, including our shopping, dining and recreation experiences, will remain open during your stay. While you may experience our 'work in progress,' please know that we are working hard to ensure that your stay is both comfortable and enjoyable.

If you need assistance with your reservation, please contact your original booking agent as listed on your confirmation letter.

Thank you so much for sharing the notice about construction!

If anyone receives notice for a trip earlier in the year, let me know. I haven't heard an exact start date yet. Sometimes I don't find out that the work will start until a day or two before it actually begins.

::yes::

Does anyone have pictures of the ceramics activity at the resort that they are willing to share for me to add to the first page resort activities posting?

::yes::

And now it is time for me to lecture myself:

"The Search Feature can be your friend"

:sad2:

This picture was posted to the thread back in August 2015. I had copied it into my files, but never posted it.

If anyone else has pictures to share I would still love to see 'em.

Jingle drink recipe from Crew's Cup

The holiday menus were gone, but the very nice bartender knew exactly what drink we were talking about and could easily recite all the ingredients from memory. Guess she's made a few over the holidays...

Start with a pinch of cinnamon
Add 1.25 oz of Crown Apple
Next is Cranberry juice
And finally, top with angry orchard cider

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Hi - is there a quick way to find out which standard view club level rooms have full balconies? I'm specifically wondering about 5675, 5677, 5679, 5681, 5680, and 5682. Thanks!

I just received that email today too, @shoreward - we're traveling in late April! Hoping things are fairly manageable!

@Andrea817 - that looks fantastic and it sounds like you had a great plan! I think that I need to show my DH those pictures to inspire him for next year!

How exciting! In that area I like:
  • The free walking tour of the Boardwalk area (not only the Boardwalk Inn, although it starts there)
  • Captain's Grille restaurant for any meal
  • Jellyrolls dueling piano bar
  • Water taxis (boats) run between Epcot area resorts, Epcot, and DHS - this ride is fun in itself, not only as transportation
  • It's fun to visit Stormalong Bay area at least once, to look around if nothing else -- and it's all the more fun for those who are swimmers

Of course, I can't find the link to it now, but I read on the Boardwalk thread that they are no longer doing the tours. This was in October or November, so would be several pages to go through, and they may restart them as several people were disappointed it was gone and may have complained. Just thought I'd let you know.

I just saw notification posted on another site of some upcoming work on Beach & Yacht Club resort pools:

  • Beach & Yacht Club Resorts: Stormalong Bay Pool Slide closed for refurbishment January 30 – February 10, 2017. The pool will remain open during this work.
  • Beach Club Resort: Tidal Pool closed February 20 – 22, 2017
  • Yacht Club Resort: Admiral Pool closed February 22 – 24, 2017
The work on the SAB slide is probably part of the typical sorta- annual winter maintenance. Sometimes the entire pool is done, 1/3 at a time with the remaining 2/3 remaining open while the refurbishment is completed. I don't remember if work was done last year or not, but I try to list the closures in Posts 2 and 3 on Page 1

Ok, let's start the new year off with some awesome news.....

img_6134.jpg

(Clearly I believe in cutting to the chase.)

On 12/30, my DBF, (some of you know him as Tom, some know him as JNPants here on the board-he will hereafter be referred to as "DF"), asked me to marry him after 10 years of dating. He presented me with a beautiful watch to mark the occasion, and the next day we picked out matching rings.
Everyone is asking us if we'll having a Disney wedding, and the short answer is, no, but since we live in New England, and will hopefully get married near the water, I'm hoping the SAB Precision Swim/Dive team can put on a show that involves spelling out our names, and a rough image of the front porte cochere, so we can feel like we're at BC. NinjaMom, can you get on this? I'm leaving this up to you.
