Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

TEN DAYS until I arrive at the Beach Club!! I booked a standard view with the magical deal; any advice on specific room requests? I haven't stayed at BC in a few years and when I did, it was CL so I wasn't terribly concerned with my view. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

I found this map very handy (unfortunately I saw it after our trip!) showing the categories.

We were in a standard room last week, so I have a little experience with this. I think it depends on what you are looking for. We had requested a full balcony, and were first in room 3722, but it was very noisy from bus traffic. The next morning we moved to 3681, which was much quieter. These rooms were both fairly far from the elevators it seemed, so if that is important to you, you might look at another area. However, there was a staircase right around the corner from 3681 which brought you right down next to Cape May and out to the pool. It was great! We had a nice view off to the left of the pool. Looking at the map, I would think that the 3681-3727 rooms would all be a step up from the rooms across the hall in terms of view and noise. If you are an afternoon napper, however, you will hear the afternoon pool party from the pool facing rooms. I'm not positive, but I think the 4th floor rooms in this area had small balconies. I know the one above ours did.

I've been planning a trip with two of my sisters for April 18-22. We were staying at the BC but decided to use the Spring RO discount to move to the YC - we were a little concerned about the refurbishment but it was too tough to resist getting both a discount and upgrading to a pool/lagoon view! We are excited to drink our morning coffee on the balcony! I've stayed at Disney resorts before while they were undergoing refurbs and it's been fine for us, so hoping that will be the case this time around...I will need to go back a few pages to find those pictures of the new YC rooms, and I will definitely be following along here to get refurb updates!

If anyone is there now, can I ask a favor? If you're in Crews Cup, can you snap a photo of the drink menu? I'm looking for the special holiday Jingle Bell drink. I had it twice and it was delicious. Wish I had an ingredient list so I could try it at home.

Thank you!
Mary

Thank you for the map!! I am a notorious room changer and hoping to avoid that this trip! If I get my request for a large balcony, I will be thrilled. :)

HI guys! I'm usually on the runDisney boards but I thought I'd pop in on your thread. I lurk here for trip planning sometimes. We have stayed at the Yacht Club before and kids fell in love with the pool. DH fell in love with popping into WS for a yummy snack whenever he wants :)
We are staying at the Beach Club this time for the marathon, trying out the other side and hoping it's a good location to spectate the race for family and getting to/from the race for me. Can't wait to get a Dole Whip by the pool.

It is a great place to watch the marathon. We stood by Hurricane Hannah's. There weren't a lot of spectators there so it was easy for our runners to spot us. When our daughter ran by we quickly walked to Epcot and caught her again as she ran by towards Spaceship Earth! Then met her again after the race in the parking lot/ finish line area.

Is there a map for the Yacht Club like this?

christine 9125. I am very new to disney and these boards, I found this map, not sure how accurate it is. Can someone verify if this map is correct? about 8 months ago I was looking for Beach club layout and found this, swore it was all floors, maybe google?

It's also a good spot to spectate the 10K for those who have runners in that race. Mile 5 is just about at Hurricane Hannahs. It is a little dark though, but there is some lighting to help with seeing people.

The answer is "Yes" there is probably a YC map like this. But we don't have it. We were very lucky that we had a sneaky guest take a picture of the BC map while the CM who was helping her was distracted.

:magnify:

This map is old and not entirely accurate. The room categories in particular are not correct in many cases. At the time this map was prepared, there were only standard view and water view booking categories. In (2010?), the garden view designation was added and many rooms were reclassified.

Yes, I do have this posted, with all floors probably in Post 9, along with a disclaimer that the map is out of date.

::yes::

Catching up on this thread! I like the prototype room - very modern and updated. I do hope they add some Disney touches so it feels more like a Disney resort. Hard to tell if there were any in the curtains, bedding, artwork, etc. I wouldn't mind a shower stall but I don't have kids. I understand why people who do would have a problem with that. Overall I won't complain if my room looks like that in September! :)

So it's been a little while since I planned a WDW trip for my family. Almost 5 years, actually. A few things have changed. :scared:

Our last WDW vaca back in Sept 2011 we stayed YC CL. I recall back then worrying about the ability to get a daybed because my boys won't sleep in the same bed. They wouldn't at 15 & 13. I don't think they'll even fit now that they're 21 & 19! Yikes! I booked YC (forget what view) using the new RO discount for May. I'm stressing over that darned daybed again! Does the BC side have more daybed rooms than YC? I cannot remember for the life of me! YC was about $500 less than BC for the 7 nights. I know about the construction at YC and fully expect we will not be in an updated room. I'm just questioning whether it'd be worth it to cough up the additional $500 for a better chance at having a daybed *and* be in those pretty BC rooms. ((Stayed in one for a single night a little over a year ago & ooooohhhhh how I want that headboard with the inlay!)) If we do stick with YC and land in a room without the daybed would it be awful to request a move to a room with one? Is there a specific view category I should make sure I've got booked to increase my chances of success here?

Anyone see the January Recreation Calendar yet?

Not yet, but thanks for the reminder. I don't usually see it until the first or second day of the month.

::yes::

Thanks! Thanks for what you do here, too. You do an exceptional job managing all of this ever changing information, and keeping it friendly. I could have used a little of that the other night... I'm new to this user name, but not to these boards, so I'm familiar with the "jump to conclusions" mentality that can kick around from time to time. I haven't been on these boards or at Disney in probably 6 or 7 years because we took an extended break to focus on other traveling, so I do think we are viewing Disney World through a different lens now, and it's made us appreciate some things about being there as a vacation destination, but also realizing some challenges about it.

Thank you for the kind words. As you point out, I try to promote a positive vibe here. I believe that questions should be asked and answered in a friendly manner, but unfortunately that does not always happen on.

:goodvibes

Starting to get really excited! It's less than a month until our stay at BCV! We're going from 1/22-1/28 and then popping over to the Poly for a night. I've stayed at Yacht Club before but the hubby has never stayed at an Epcot resort. Epcot and DHS are his favorite parks so we decided to try out the Beach Club. Somehow managed to rent points for a studio in the Villas. I think he is going to love being able to walk to the two parks! I'm mainly excited for all the good food and beverage options nearby :drinking1

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

Hell again everyone! It's been a few months since I've posted here (always following though) and I've got some time off this week so what else am I going to do but start to plan our next Disney trip! We've stayed CL at YC the past two summers and would prefer to do that again, but now we have a new consideration...

We were blessed with the birth of my first grandchild on December 1! With that said, I'm hoping this great community can provide some advice and insight for us.

Our plan is to come down during spring break April 2-9 (my DDIL is a teacher) and I know the room refurbs will be going on at YC. Assuming the CL rooms are completed before those dates do you think the construction noise from the other floors will be too disruptive if/when my DD/DSIL needs to take the baby back to the room for an afternoon nap? Also, in consideration of others, is there an area on the CL floor where I should request a room to minimize the potential noise level of a 4 month old so as not to be too disruptive to other vacationers, or are the rooms "sound proof" enough not to worry about it?

I'd consider the BC, but the discount offer we received in the mail is only 1/2 the amount at the BC than what's offered at the YC. We're also considering moving across the lake to the BWI as the discount is the same as the YC there.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

Congrats on the new addition to your family!

I suggest that you book what you want based on preference and price. That is considerate of you to be concerned with the possible disruption from the baby, but really, your family has every right to book a room where you want to be. Maybe asking for a room at the end of a hallway would only have a single room adjacent to the baby's.

As far as the construction at the YC, perhaps you could request a room "away from renovation construction" I'm not positive that the work will be done from top floor to bottom floor as has happened with past refurbishment projects. I have heard comments the work may happen wing by wing as it did with the recent BCV refurb or perhaps in some other order. So the club level rooms may not be all completed by April.

Disney has traditionally made it pretty easy to change resorts once you have booked, although I think I have read that it is not quite as simple now especially when discounts are being utilized. But my original advice remains. Book what you want, but if the renovation news concerns you as the trip approaches, investigate changing resorts.

:thumbsup2

If a full balcony and/or daybed is important to you, I suggest making those your only request(s). Some of the SV rooms are overlook the resort front entrance/parking lot and some guests have complained about early morning noise, so you could request "away from lobby"

Thanks for the info and suggestion!

We modified our Bounceback from Sept to Dec. Our stay was fantastic earlier this month so we are happy to be spending time at the BC again before switching to the WL. @natebenma if you could please add us to the log for Dec. 9-12. Thanks!

:welcome: back!

Will do.

Sounds like a fantastic lineup for a December trip. The decorations at both BC/YC and WL are so impressive.

I'm not sure if YC or BC has more daybeds or if one view category has more than the other. For the price difference, I would stick with YC. Also, knowing you will have a full balcony is good to give you a little extra space.

I suggest that your room request is "Daybed, please. 4 adults in room" :crowded:

Yes, if you are assigned to a room without a daybed, at checkin you can certainly request another room that has one.

I am not sure what the status of requesting a rollaway cot is at the resorts. Does anyone know if you can still do that and if there is a nightly charge?

:scratchin

To anyone who's at BC/YC/BCV right now or checking in within the next couple days...

DH and I are just driving from our cruise in Miami to check into BCV (arrive later this afternoon, around 3-4pm likely, and check out on Jan 7)

In our suitcases we have alcohol we won't drink (got it free on cruise, one each of vodka, rum and blended whisky). We can't take it home for family since we're flying and it would be over our customs limit anyway.

If you are a big drinker, or are drinking home, please PM me to make arrangements to meet at BCV for the exchange and it's all yours.

Hi Dee! I never posted our next stay: we have YC club level May 6-13. Booked with the bounceback when we were there in December. As always, looking forward to being at YC. Not looking forward to the BIG 6-0 I'll be celebrating on the trip. :rolleyes1
