I know someone already broke the bad news about the Dole Whips. They were at SAB for about a millisecond. They were available in mid July 2015, then by the end of August, gone.

But did I just read that Dole Whips, with and without rum, are now being sold someplace at Animal Kingdom?

:scratchin

Yes, in Africa, at Tamu Tamu Refreshments, which is right near where the band performs.

Yeah I must have been there at just the right time. Maybe if I had ordered more of them they would have stayed :sad2:

We're coming home!

Dee please add me to the Be Our Guest list - we're staying 3 nights at CS (June 21-24) then to BC for 8 nights (June 24-July 2). :yay:

180 days to go!

:welcome: back!

Will do!

:woohoo:

[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]Hello friends!!
Got here 12/21 and still waiting for the infamous Xmas crowds to materialize. The chocolate carousel is adorable. We also went to YC to see the train set up: very cute/lots of detail and the Boardwalk gingerbread houses are cue too.

It's December 26 and we still have not seen or experienced the infamous crowds. Hollywood Studios was busy on Xmas eve, but there were several shows going on to draw in people and the park is cut down in size due to construction. Still not bad. We used FP and saw Star Wars and Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM.

Went to AK yesterday to see my nephew (character attendant) and do a few rides. Busy there, but not crazy packed.

It's been a really nice trip!

That is great that the crowds were low. Did they stay that way for the whole trip?

::yes::

Well had a few surprises upon arrival, we got an upgraded room from a standard room to a deluxe room, and my God it is huge compared to a normal room we are in room 4557 with club access, finding out the resort is only at 50% capacity

Congrats on the upgrade! Sounds awesome!

That's surprising about the occupancy at the resort.

:cool2:

We are just back from a quick 4 night trip, from December 20-24. Overall, we had a fun time, and packed so much into our 3 1/2 park days. We stayed at the Beach Club for the first time, and our reservation was for a standard room. We loved this location, and walked many times to and from Epcot, and once to and from Hollywood Studios. Using the International Gateway is amazing, and is such a more relaxed feel from the main entrance.

I wanted to share a bit about a standard room, and 2 different locations that we had.

:welcome: to this thread!

Glad that you mostly had an enjoyable trip.

Thanks for sharing the info and pictures from the two different rooms.

I won't address all of the comments that followed your post except to say that it is certainly within your rights to ask about the rooms that are available in your category, especially if there is a situation you encountered like the noise issue. It is possible that there may not be another room that you can be moved to, but in some cases like you discovered, there might be and the staff can try to accommodate your request.

::yes::

Arriving 1 week from tomorrow and can't wait! Just had to share with people who understand. :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

Enjoy your trip!

:cool1:

we reserved delux room club access for next year. I believe there are only 7 delux rooms at BC. How far of a walk is it to the club?

I think there are 6, on different floors. I think I have some brief descriptions of the rooms- check Post 12 or maybe Post 8 on Page 1.

:thumbsup2

Hi Dee! :wave2:

I haven't been on the boards since we weren't planning in a trip in 2017 (DH asked for a break). Well, DH woke up the day after Christmas in the spirit of giving since he suggested we not wait until 2018 and just add in more relaxing (non-park) days. DONE!

The next time you are updating the BOG List, please add us: 11/26/17-12/02/17 BCV. We have always stayed in a studio but next trip, we splurged with our points and upgraded ourselves to the 1 Bedroom Villa.

So glad to be "back"!! :woohoo:

:welcome: back!

That's awesome!

Happy to add you to the list.

:woohoo:

Dee,
Crowds were manageable the entire trip: early arrival, smart use of FP, and afternoon breaks made a difference, I'm sure. Before Xmas was better than after.

Today was very busy at Magic Kingdom. We were there to see the parade, use our FP and enjoy the Tik Room, so we were fine. If this was a first trip, it would be tough to manage,

I'm glad we didn't let the horror stories stop us from going. The decorations were really beautiful and we had a great time! The chocolate carousel in the BC lobby was the cutest! The lobby did take on a chocolate scent that kind of masked the usual BC lobby smell.

Yeah I must have been there at just the right time. Maybe if I had ordered more of them they would have stayed :sad2:

I was there with a group of friends at the end of August, after learning the Dole Whips were there at SAB. The "Frozen Treat" sales sign was still there, but the window was never open. When we asked, we were told it would open "if there was adequate staffing" at the pool.

:(

Just booked June 4-8 at YC, with the new RO discount, and went through a popular ticket reseller to save a little more money. eBates works with them! I'm still thinking about CL. I thought that CL GV used to allow 5 people, but on the website, the only CL category that does is SV. It even says 2 Qns and a daybed but won't allow me to book CL GV for 5. Weird.

This will be the second half of our split with POR. Very excited!

Thanks for the tip about ebates and I am assuming Undercover Tourist.

Several years ago families of 5 were able to book CL GV rooms at the Beach Club, but there was only one or two rooms with daybeds, so they stopped allowing families of more than 4 from booking that room since if they booked more than one family for a stay at the same time they would be in an oversold situation. Probably the same situation with the Yacht Club, though I am not positive.

Ah, OK! Hmmm, I wasn't sure about booking CL SV after hearing about early morning noise with regular SV rooms. I'll keep my eye on it but I'm sure we'll be very happy with regular GV if I can't get the price I want.
I didn't mention the name, in case it violates rules. ;) It's not advertised but it works when you put in the dates.

Thanks! Thanks for what you do here, too. You do an exceptional job managing all of this ever changing information, and keeping it friendly. I could have used a little of that the other night... I'm new to this user name, but not to these boards, so I'm familiar with the "jump to conclusions" mentality that can kick around from time to time. I haven't been on these boards or at Disney in probably 6 or 7 years because we took an extended break to focus on other traveling, so I do think we are viewing Disney World through a different lens now, and it's made us appreciate some things about being there as a vacation destination, but also realizing some challenges about it.

I'm glad that someone posted that map of the room categories, because it made me realize how little planning I did with my room requests for this trip. We've had standard rooms before at Polynesian, AKL, and WL, and I'm not sure that their standard rooms have quite the disparity that BC/YC standards rooms do. That said, I would steer people away from 3722 and rooms on that side in that area because of the noise. We did get a good laugh out of the full balcony, however! We are very curious, when only 50% or so of the rooms have full balconies, why you would use them there? With all that space, you could hop the balcony and have play kickball on the roof!

We loved the vibe, location, and the pool area was so relaxing. We are from the north, and on the day that the air temp was 75-80, the water was tolerable. Kids, of course, were splashing around like crazy. I was in for a surprise when I got out of my tube near the steps in the lazy river, and the water depth was over my head! We liked that there was deeper water than you find at some resort pools.

We didn't eat at the resort much, but had lunch one day at the Crew's Cup Lounge, and it was so nice and quiet in there. Great, cozy space.

I'm not sure what was up with housekeeping. Maybe it was just in the area we stayed in, but one day there was a guest at the front desk asking for toilet paper, because his wasn't cleaned in a couple days, either. We don't need our room "cleaned" exactly, but we needed the trash emptied, and clean glassware... I would love to see the option to request a supplies replacement/trash empty in your room, in place of a full room cleaning. For a short trip, we don't need it, but those teeny tiny trash cans don't always cut it.

Just to clarify - I was just on Ebates just this morning to see if UT was one of their stores. It is; HOWEVER ticket purchases are specifically EXCLUDED from the cash back deal.

Starting to get really excited! It's less than a month until our stay at BCV! We're going from 1/22-1/28 and then popping over to the Poly for a night. I've stayed at Yacht Club before but the hubby has never stayed at an Epcot resort. Epcot and DHS are his favorite parks so we decided to try out the Beach Club. Somehow managed to rent points for a studio in the Villas. I think he is going to love being able to walk to the two parks! I'm mainly excited for all the good food and beverage options nearby :drinking1

That makes me feel better about buying mine before the price increase this year and NOT knowing that it was an ebates store. I booked a room and got the (little bit of) cash back notice on it, but I did pay in full. I preferred to so that my Disney Visa rewards are applied sooner rather than later, which is going towards food costs.

Hell again everyone! It's been a few months since I've posted here (always following though) and I've got some time off this week so what else am I going to do but start to plan our next Disney trip! We've stayed CL at YC the past two summers and would prefer to do that again, but now we have a new consideration...

We were blessed with the birth of my first grandchild on December 1! With that said, I'm hoping this great community can provide some advice and insight for us.

Our plan is to come down during spring break April 2-9 (my DDIL is a teacher) and I know the room refurbs will be going on at YC. Assuming the CL rooms are completed before those dates do you think the construction noise from the other floors will be too disruptive if/when my DD/DSIL needs to take the baby back to the room for an afternoon nap? Also, in consideration of others, is there an area on the CL floor where I should request a room to minimize the potential noise level of a 4 month old so as not to be too disruptive to other vacationers, or are the rooms "sound proof" enough not to worry about it?

I'd consider the BC, but the discount offer we received in the mail is only 1/2 the amount at the BC than what's offered at the YC. We're also considering moving across the lake to the BWI as the discount is the same as the YC there.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

Congrats on your first grandchild! I wish we could know exactly when the room reforms would be done, but if they start on time, they *might* be done with CL by April, or I'd suspect they'd be no further than the 4th floor, just beneath. If they are working on the 4th floor, there is a decent chance there would be some construction noise during the day, so that's something to consider. If you are currently able to book CL, then I assume that they intend to be done by then, or I suppose they could give you any room in the resort, but grant you CL access. That might be something you might want to inquire about, as some might feel inconvenienced to have to move floors to access the lounge.

As far as noise from a 4 month-old, there's really no place to request that would make it better. I'd say, you paid for it, it's your room. If people near you are inconvenienced, they'll ask to move, and that's their right, as much as it's your right to be in your room with a baby "working on it's roar!" :simba:

If you do choose to zip across the lake to BWI, I can say great things about it, including it's CL, which while BC/YC is our favorite overall resort, BWI has the distinction of being our favorite CL experience on multiple locations. Good luck planning!

TEN DAYS until I arrive at the Beach Club!! I booked a standard view with the magical deal; any advice on specific room requests? I haven't stayed at BC in a few years and when I did, it was CL so I wasn't terribly concerned with my view. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

a baby "working on it's roar!" :simba:
Thank you Scott for your thoughts on this. I especially like your "roar" comment! I'm usually not bothered by a crying baby (Let It Go little one!) but I know others can be and I want to be considerate of them.

Another obstacle is prying ourselves away from SAB and convincing my DD that the creepy clown may not be that bad. Maybe...

Actually, if you look at what I said, I asked for a different standard room, not an upgraded room. She led me to believe that there weren't any available. I think in customer service (and in life), there are ways to say things that sound softer. She could have worded her response differently. We even offered to give up the balcony or switch to a King room, so we were being very flexible. All we wanted was a different Ford, which I don't think is unheard of for people to ask if anything else is available.

In the spirit of starting 2017 out on a positive note, and boy could this world/country use some positivity, I went back and read your original post, and having done so, I apologize for my snarkiness. I still say that the lady on the phone was only speaking the truth (though perhaps her delivery wasn't super), and you've now learned to go to the front desk, but I see that you were only asking for the best possible room in your category, which is something I'd think we all would want. I'm glad you got a really terrific view out of the standard category. These boards (though not usually this thread, thanks mainly to Dee), are full of people fishing for more than they paid for, and a quick skim of your post read like that, though on second, more thorough read, it wasn't the case. So again, I rescind my original post in reply. I'm sorry that housekeeping turned you off to the resort. In over 15 stays (at multiple resorts), we've never had a problem with housekeeping, but many seem to.

A few things here....first of all, we love BWI, and the clown really isn't creepy, and I really was terrified of clowns as a kid. By a mile, it's our 2nd favorite pool on WDW property, and even more than SAB, it manages to feel really refreshing, even in August. Don't let that scare you away.
And as for the baby, if I'm being perfectly honest, if I was next to a room with a relentless crying baby, I'd probably ask to move, and that's my right, but it's also the right of the baby and his/her parents to occupy the room next to me, and I understand that, so I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. If the people near/next to you are bothered, they'll move.

Wow, that is very cool of you, and much appreciated. Thanks!

We liked many, many things about staying there, and would likely stay again, but maybe not during such an expensive time of year, because I do think it makes you more annoyed when little things go wrong. Our next trip is also during sky high spring break season, so we're still evaluating that one.

As far as the room selections, if it were up to me, I would assign people to the better rooms within each category, to avoid people requesting changes. It just is such a better first impression. But maybe someone else had already asked for 3681, and I stole it from them! Hopefully they didn't end up in 3722...
