Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I am booked for BC and BCV next month (will be my first ever Deluxe stay)!

:welcome: to this thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for September.

:cool1:

Regarding the YC bus stop, it was at the convention center when we arrived on July 23, but was moved back to the regular bus stop on the 28th.

Thank you so much for that update!!!

:thumbsup2

What type of compensation do you think is appropriate?
I think what happened is awful and I would have been so disappointed, but all your reservation guarantees - if you read the fine print - is some room some where on property. There have been reports in the past of folks paying for a higher class room and not getting it. It happens and I don't think you are entitled to anything more than a room.

I don't think the hotel should overbook. The poster said they offered her another resort, which IMO is not acceptable. The first night, all her children had to sleYep in one bed and it seemed that she never got the club level that she wanted. Yes, in a case like this, I think Disney should discount her room or give them a free night or two for the inconvenience.

As far as screw ups with rooms, compensation, etc.....

Kind of like paying for a Volvo XC90 and when you arrive, you have to take the Nissan Murano. But hey, next time you buy a car, they'll make sure you get the Volvo.

(No offense to Volvo or Nissan owners).

This made me LOL.

I guess technically I wasn't "pixie dusted" youre right regan117 but I advocated for myself and in a tactful manner I told Disney how disappointed I was and they are now making it Right. Some people think this cant happen and while rare it does happen. That was my first trip to Disney so I wanted it to be perfect. Nothing is perfect, This time around I think Im a bit more prepared for the unexpected. I was just trying to make people aware that these things do happen.

Oh I know. That wasn't a knock on you. I was just saying you really didn't get anything "free"...they just made up for something you had already paid for. I'm certainly glad they did, but not everyone gets another chance to go back to WDW. So if their once-in-a-lifetime gets messed up, a room upgrade after the trip is over isn't really going to change things.

I tried very hard to get a reservation in the middle of October. Availability was limited, discounts didn't exist and I couldn't get a room. :( And someone seems to have picked dates during the Gartner Convention - just sayin'. :rolleyes1

I know! We are going to miss you, though.

Yeah, I just saw this week that the Gartner Convention starts the day we check in. D'OH!

One of my missions was actually going to be getting some pictures of the convention center at the YC since I am finally staying there, but perhaps it will be crowded during my trip.

:sad2:

So after watching the vlog from Dis Unplugged (3 times) on their visit to Flying Fish on the opening night, we have cancelled our wedding anniversary meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse and booked Flying Fish. Reading the menu did not attract my attention at all, but actually seeing the food was well wowzer!!!!!
Sorry to hear of your change of plans with the Yachtsman. I've read great, good and not so glowing reviews on this thread of that restaurant but I will say it's still my "go-to" place for our dinner for the last evening of our stay. Never had a bad dinner, never had bad service, and that is what keeps me coming back. Flying-Fish is an excellent choice (looking forward to visiting with the new renovations). I just wish I could get the DW to go there again. She's not into fish for dinner.

So sorry- once again I am about a week behind on going through the thread. Lots going on here!!! I have been hunting and pecking with answers, but it really messes with my OCDee when I don't have a chance to go through methodically!
Dee, no apologies needed. With your schedule I'm surprised you can keep up with this thread and the three others you have going at all! I just hope the Dark Side keeps you in their establishment and doesn't send you and Mark off to some presidential suite in the GF as punishment for their overbooking during construction. Got to get you to see the ways of the true force.

@natebenma, can you update us on the Be Our Guest List? :) We're now at the BCV for Sept. 8-11! Finally convinced my brother to come along, so we switched to a 1 bed to accommodate all of us. I'm so excited!

Anyone have any suggestions for room requests with the new expanded list? I think I saw that they're updating the rooms top to bottom and then by wing, so so far, I've only requested an upper floor room. Wasn't sure if I should add "canal view," "woods view," etc. Always just want somewhere quieter :)

The renovation should be just about done in September.
Requests are hard to meet at BCV. It runs at over 95% capacity year round. Something has to be open on your checkin day. We usually do not get our requests. That said I have never had a room I was unhappy with.
If you want quiet I would NOT request a canal view. There is a service road beyond the canal and some find that noisy. I would request woods view for quiet. And if you're lucky you will have some view of the high Illuminations fireworks.
Enjoy!!

We watched that twice yesterday....and made 2 reservations....
Yeah, we really love it there. :tinker:

Excellent to know! It's really not a problem, but one thing I like about the YC bus stop compared to BC is that it's much closer to the front door!

It really is beautiful over there... I found Salty's granddaughter....and took a picture of her...but it's too big to post here apparently.

Wow! That's incredible with the capacity. I "grew up" going to BC, but I'm really excited for our first time at the Villas. I also haven't been there since they renovated the regular rooms, so it'll be really nice to see.

10-4 on the canal view. I might just leave the second request list free then. I'm not too bugged about any of those views since the only ones I don't like are over signature pools (I'm a light sleeper and appreciate naps ;)).

Thanks again!

Well this is upsetting.
Our Magical trip starts one week from tomorrow, and I made our room requests through our TA, and in the past, not because I don't trust her, but because I can be controlling about these things, I've always called 1-407-W-DISNEY to confirm that the TA's requests actually made it to our reservation. Now, the Disney line is telling me that they can't access whether or not the requests are there. They might be, they might not be. Whether or not our celebration (10th anniversary) is on there is also a mystery. This is so frustrating! Does anyone have any ideas how I can verify this? (I'm posting this to the main threads for both resorts we're staying at.)
Oh, and I'm not interested in online check-in, as I like checking-in and interacting with CMs, and our room requests aren't completely available in the request options on MDE.

page 608-610

Any word of the Dole Whips that are not Dole Whips have returned?

No, I haven't heard anything.

:(

I have some photos from when I stayed upgraded to a suite at YC last year. The room was not on the CL, but we had an access to the lounge. The room was really nice with a sitting area and 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. It had 4 queens and a sleeper sofa. The fridge was dorm size-the same size as CL at CR last year. It was a corner room, and did not have a full balcony.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Would you mind if I added your pictures and descriptions to the YC Deluxe/Suite thread?

Do you remember the room number? Or floor?

So, no full balcony at all? The only room I know about without a full balcony is 5163. So, is this another one?

::yes::

I'm excited to be heading back to Yacht Club in a few weeks! I noticed there are new requests listed in the drop-down boxes for online check-in... but unfortunately, the 2 requests I'd like to make are not listed. Can I call and have my 2 requests noted manually on my reservation, even though they're not in the pre-set request options? (They're not unusual, I don't think- I'd like to request close to lobby, and a daybed)...

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list. Is your trip at the end of August or is it in September?

Yes, call your requests in to the Disney reservations line.

:thumbsup2

Hi Natebenma :) Just checking with you as I was looking for my name on the Be our Guest Page, but couldn't locate it....just wanted to make sure you have my details. They are: Chimo2u Nov 4-11, 2017 Concierge/ Eastern Caribbean Disney Fantasy then Nov 11-18, 2017 YC CL (27 anniversary celebration)
Thanks!
Marie

I'm a bit backlogged. You are on the list now, but I just noticed your anniversary note. I'll add that.

:)

Can we be added to the list? I just booked our annual mother/daughter trip-BC CL deluxe room-Feb 24 to March 8. Our daughter will be turning 21 on March 6th so I am planning on her first "legal" drink at Dawa Bar followed by dinner at Tiffins. Husband and son will be hiding out at home in CT so DD and I will have our yearly blast during our girl's time!! Hopefully Club Villain will still be operating-we had such a fantastic time there this year, along with the Star Wars fireworks dessert party-both were amazing and we can't wait to do them again.

Sure thing!!!

What a great celebration for your daughter.

:cool1:

We booked a standard room for September (hubs, toddler, me). I requested a king bed #1 - any suggestions for request #2 that gives us a possibility of a non-hvac view? Right now I have full balcony.

Also, how is the pullout? I do not think Mr. Littles will abide by a pack and play anymore.

dansdad had a recommendation for your request (that you will have to call in).

The pullouts are pretty comfortable.

::yes::

Just had to say that I booked our flights yesterday! :woohoo: Our arrival flight is super early - we will be arriving at the airport at 8:15 am. We're hoping to get to BCV, leave any carryons we have with Bell Services, and be in a park by lunchtime. Is that timeline realistic?? I am 99% sure our room won't be ready at 9 in the morning, lol, but our checked luggage that DME has will be taken to our room once it's ready, correct? And then we retrieve our carryons from Bell Services when our room is ready and we return from the parks?

So...room booked, flights booked...need to purchase tickets...but, no turning back...we're coming to Disney! :teeth: Now to start figuring out any ADRs we may want. My ADR date is 10/2. My daughter wants to eat at Ohana, she is a huge Stitch fan, and I thought we might try to do that on either our MK day or our EP day. Would it be easiest to get a cab/uber to the Poly? I know we could take the bus to MK, then monorail to Poly, but that seems like it would take a bit of time. We thought about walking through EP to the monorail, but if we get an early reservation, we won't be able to do that.

Totally realistic!

For our past trips, our flights have landed between 9:30 and 10, and after checking in at the resort, we were "Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street USA" by around 12:30. If the park you are going to is EPCOT you can be there even quicker!

Yes, a cab/Uber would be the quickest and easiest way to get to the Poly. Fare should not be all that much.

:goodvibes

Can anyone confirm whether they've added showers to the Stormalong Bay bathrooms, for our last day, before our flight home? I just called BC guest services, and he said with the latest renovations, showers were added? I don't mean pool rinse off showers either, I mean full soap and shampoo showers inside the bathrooms. Thanks.

When is your trip?

Funny you should ask- I just got a message on Facebook from someone who is there now and has been talking to the recreation CMs.

Showers are going to be added to the bathrooms near Beaches & Cream. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.

According to my friend "There is a bit of irony to the whole shower situation. Shipshape who took the privilege away from the Beach Club and Yacht Club guests is going to lose part of their space to make room for the new shower rooms."

:lmao:

Aw, thanks!

I am really looking forward to the stay at the YC and hope I get to keep it. I would be able to handle a switch over to the BC, but I'm not sure I would prefer the GF Presidential Suite. It is all location for us, and EPCOT is where our hearts are. Maybe I'll counter with the Dream Suite in the Castle. THAT I would consider!

That's a bummer.

Have you tried calling again? Not saying you will get a different answer. But you might. Consistency is not a feature of the call center.

:scratchin

Booked at BC for October 8th through 20th!! Can't wait :dogdance:

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Based on personal experience, I suggest calling (407) 934-7000 for placing your YC room requests, and also, perhaps, your notation of special celebration added to your record. The CM at this contact number will gladly take your room requests, though I don't believe they can actually bring up your reservation in the system. I have had 100% success with my room requests using this phone number, which can be called no more than nine days before check-in. I believe the phone contact for the Poly is (407) 824-2000, though I've never personally tried it, myself.

Hope this works for you. Good luck and "Happy Anniversary."

natebanma... just kinda curious... how did the yacht club become 'the dark side'??
