Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Just found out PWC college summer interns wll be in the house next week, Beach Club that is! My DS has a Lehigh friend summer interning with PWC and PWC is taking their college summer interns to Disney next week for a few nights and staying at Beach Club! My son would be totally jealous but we are going to be there shortly after. But that is some internship! Told my son to tell his friend to make sure they sample the official drink of the BC (rising senior and legal to drink that Sunken Treasure). :thumbsup2

Not Natebenma, but YC became the "dark side" due to the darker tones of wood and decor where as BC lobby & decor are much lighter and brighter. Both true to their names.

a-ha! well that makes sense. thanks for en"light"ening me! lol!

whenever i read references to the "dark side" in posts i thought it was referring to a non-disney resort in the orlando area (universal, etc) ... but when i noticed natebenma's signature i realized that didn't make any sense at all! so curious to see what refurb at YC will be!! :)

natebanma... just kinda curious... how did the yacht club become 'the dark side'??

The name was jokingly used by a certain BC CM who occasionally had to fill in and work in the YC lobby. Like HockeyMomR says, the darker décor played a part as well as the fact that the lobby tended to be quieter (not as lively) as the Beach Club, so when she had to work there, she would refer to it as being sent to "The Dark Side"

As you said, not to be confused with "The Theme Park Which Must Not Be Named" which is also referred to as the Dark Side.

Well this is upsetting.
Our Magical trip starts one week from tomorrow, and I made our room requests through our TA, and in the past, not because I don't trust her, but because I can be controlling about these things, I've always called 1-407-W-DISNEY to confirm that the TA's requests actually made it to our reservation. Now, the Disney line is telling me that they can't access whether or not the requests are there. They might be, they might not be. Whether or not our celebration (10th anniversary) is on there is also a mystery. This is so frustrating! Does anyone have any ideas how I can verify this? (I'm posting this to the main threads for both resorts we're staying at.)
Oh, and I'm not interested in online check-in, as I like checking-in and interacting with CMs, and our room requests aren't completely available in the request options on MDE.
I like using the Touring Plans room request thing (they fax it, which I think is funny). It has worked for us. Not sure how to verify

We are staying at the BC for 10 days in a few weeks. I just ordered memory maker on my DME account. How do I know it's on my magicband? We have already received my magicbands. Is there anyway to verify it's attached to all of my families magicbands?

We are doing a pre-cruise splurge in October at the Beach Club! :yay: We have only stayed at Mods before during our weeklong trips, and thought after soliciting input on the DIS, that BC would be a fantasic fun little splurge for us before the cruise for a two night stay with one park day and one "down day" at the resort the day before we board the ship. My family of four is going with my inlaws on a 7-day cruise, gifted by my super generous ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo inlaws, in celebration of their 50th Anniversary. :cake:My fam of 4 includes DS12, DD10, DH and me. Kids love WDW and are very happy and thankful to do anything, they are not easily bored - for which we very are grateful.:thumbsup2 They currently think we are flying in Friday and staying at the MCO hotel the night before the cruise. Cant wait to surprise them with Stormalong Bay!

The four of us are arriving at MCO on Thursday 10/13 around noon and plan to hit DHS if they add SWGS Fireworks and Dessert party. We know this isnt "cost effective based on cost/hour, but we want to do something different to us. We are doing the park that afternoon/evening and then having a relaxing Friday at the resort before the cruise so we are not tired/exhausted from commando park touring on Friday - especially since the anniversary cruise is the reason for this trip. We will meet nlaws at the Port refreshed and ready to celebrate! With much of the vacation cost generously covered, we capitalized on a 25% off room discount for two nights - this seems like a good opportunity and time to make a Deluxe Resort "worth it" for our family by having a full resort day to enjoy the deluxe-ness :) with our short two day visit.

Super excited to stay at the Beach Club and appreciate any insights anyone has to offer a first timer even though its short. We have a "garden or woods view" room, reservations at Cape May for breakfast at 7:45 on Saturday, the morning of our cruise embarkation, with a private transfer to Port Canaveral at 10am. Plan to eat casual quick service on Friday and spend day at the pool area (fingers crossed for good weather). Thusday we have dinner ADRs at DHS, but may forgo with short park hours.

I'm a bit backlogged. You are on the list now, but I just noticed your anniversary note. I'll add that.

:)
Thanks so much for adding me! You've got me in NOV 2016/ I WISH I was going that soon, but alas -- my trip isn't until 2017 if you can switch me over when you have time
Thanks!!!

If you can see it on your MDE account, then it will be tied to everyone on your reservation/family and friends list (if you selected that option). No need to worry! You can double check when you arrive, but if you can see it, rest assured that it is there!

:welcome:

When is your trip?

Funny you should ask- I just got a message on Facebook from someone who is there now and has been talking to the recreation CMs.

Showers are going to be added to the bathrooms near Beaches & Cream. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.

According to my friend "There is a bit of irony to the whole shower situation. Shipshape who took the privilege away from the Beach Club and Yacht Club guests is going to lose part of their space to make room for the new shower rooms."

:lmao:

Thank you so much for that update, that is exactly what I was hoping for. So our trip, unfortunately, is the beginning of October. It doesn't look like we'll be able to use them. But very happy the next time we come. We are BCV owners, so it'll be years of using these showers on our last day. Thanks again!

Where would I see it on my MDE account? Don't think I see anything different. Thanks for your input.

Apparently, I was updating the BOG list in my sleep! That's what happens when I have so much catchup to do and I can't read my own writing...

I have made the revisions to the revisions...

:sad2:

Thanks for keeping us all updated!:goodvibes

I'm on that list for this month! Tick tick tick...going to be there soon! Now if I can get these meds to kick in and kick this ear infection!!! Disney awaits.

Oh, no! Feel better!

Maybe this will help... Do you remember that I was in the hospital with pneumonia just a couple of weeks before I joined you gals at the Beach Club? I don't think it affected me at all.

Cortana!!!

WOW, what fabulous in laws you have! CONGRATS to them; hope when we reach our 50th that we can extend an amazing trip to our sons and families! ENJOY the BC, your kids will LOVE Stormalong Bay:beach: and so will you; fav pool on property!:cheer2: ENJOY!:goodvibes

Is there any new info on the refill mugs without handles. I haven't read much- are they just testing them at POR or have they moved to other resorts? AFAIK they have not appeared at the Yacht & Beach Club resort yet.

disny_luvr sent me these pictures of drink carriers she received as a Fish Extender gift on a cruise. These would work for the refill mugs with no handles. And it folds flat, too!

I believe these are repurposed Chik-Fil-A carriers.

:rotfl2:

That's right! And you were not affected in any way. :rotfl:

I may just sit in the lobby and yell "Cortana!" into my iPhone just to see what happens! However, this may alert a CM and I could have them asking for my "Proper Name". :jumping1:
