Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I'm curious to see if you always get these same options or if the size of your party automatically eliminates some choices, or conversely, are automatically checked. We are a party of five, so of course we need to queen beds. Actually, I guess that would be the only choice affected, right?

I just got this email from our travel agent:

Due to an oversell situation at the Beach Club Resort, you are eligible for a free upgrade to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Savannah View, for your November 12-21 stay. Please let me know right away if you would like this upgrade or if you prefer to stay at the Beach Club Resort.

Thank you!
Do you think that's because of the Yacht Club construction? I have no desire to move to AKL since we've never stayed at BC and we are so looking forward to it...

EDIT: Oh jeez, I read it as "overall." I just noticed on rereading it says "oversell." So I guess it's not about YC construction. Nevermind!

My husband is concerned now that if we don't take the upgrade that we'll get to Beach Club and be at risk of having no room at all! That won't happen, right?! They'll have to accommodate us somewhere to honor our reservation, yes?

Have they started customizing the checkin based on view type? I see Courtyard View- are you booked GV?
:goodvibes

I'm guessing not - we have a standard view booked, and "courtyard view" and "pool view" are both now options to me too when I go to amend my check in details. I think I am going to leave mine as it is, just requesting an upper floor, as touring plans and my travel agent have faxed / emailed in my more detailed requests (don't worry, they're identical).

I would not rule out that this somehow YC construction related, and the flux that creates for YC/BC capacity. Oversell can mean anything that equates to "uh oh, we might have too many people and not enough rooms! We need to move some people."

Practically speaking there's no way for you to be left roomless. But it is possible if they have no choice, they would force a move. They try to clarify your disposition before you arrive. It's exceedingly rare, but not unheard of, that they have to move you when you arrive. They generally get enough people to agree to the upgrade to make it all fit.

As for you refusing -- if you are really set on the BC, I'd refuse.

Your travel agent might have better intel to share about what she/he sees happen in these circumstances.

Thank you. That's what I figured too -- worst case is that we get to BC and they tell us that we have to move somewhere else, in which case I would hope that it would still be an upgrade or that they would compensate us in some other way if it's a downgrade. I guess we'll see! I told her that we would like to stay at Beach Club if at all possible since this was our first time staying there. And added a note that if a free upgrade to the Poly popped up, that we might be open to taking that!

Just a quick question, if renting DVC points for a 2 BDRM suite at BC Villas, do all suites include club level access?? I'm seriously considering it if so, as right now my reservation at the YC CL is coming in at ($6,000) range for 1 week in Nov 2017, with the ddp. The room rental calculator at Dave's shows a price of the $4,000 range for the same dates, 2 BDRM Suite BC Villas.
I can add on the ddp when renting as well, can't I?
I've never rented before -- but my dates for WDW are secure so it might be a good time to rent, then if my kids do decide to join us there is room for everyone! I just don't want to give up club level amenities, it's important to us. If we can get club level with the suites, that would make renting points even more attractive!

Curious about who your TA is (and if that even matters) because we are going to be there for the same dates...

If you are renting DVC points you do not have club level access. You can add on the DDP when renting, although we've never done it.

ok- I have a dumb question. If I select connecting or adjoining room, how do they know which reservation to connect with? OR does selecting adjoining rooms mean that you don't want a connecting door?

I need help regarding how to make Mousekeeping requests prior to arrival (if possible). We're DVC owners at BCV and I seem to recall during our first trip last year that you could make requests for items like extra hangers and foam pillows (rather than feathers) via a form or online.

Does this sound familiar to anyone or did I imagine this? I have no doubt that I can request these items via a quick phone call once we check-in (if items are still needed) but was wondering if there was a way to take care of this ahead of time.

Thanks for the help!

It most likely does have to do with the refurb at the YC... The are probably accommodating convention guests that would normally be booked at the YC, over at the BC for proximity reasons. It would also be why some & not all booked guests are being offered changes, those getting notification are likely booked there during dates when the YC Convention center is in use for conferences/conventions/trade shows etc.

We were able to do online check in today and here are the options for the Beach Club:

I did our online check-in yesterday and while I liked seeing all the expanded options, I think their IT department could have tweaked the system to be more room category specific. As an example: If a person is booked in a standard view room why show options for a pool view - are there really any standards at the BC with pool views or partial pool views?? If so, great, but if not, it could raise false hopes for someone who unknowingly chooses it and ends up wasting a request.

If you are renting DVC POINTS you are NOT renting a 2 Bedroom Suite. You are renting a 2 Bedroom VILLA. They are totally different. The Villas are not even in the hotel, but rather their own building. No DVC Beach Club Villas have club access at all.

We were offered Grand Floridian for our dates the first week of December ( I posted about it back on page 604).

I do think YC renovations are contributing to the oversell situation.

I had not thought about being "forced" to move from the BC. Glad to learn that that situation is rare. So looking forward to the Beach Club, 4 months from today!

Gosh, I hope they get enough people that accept their upgrades so we aren't forced to move! :headache: Too many people love the Beach Club it seems.

Dee,

We are returning to Beach Club for the 2017 Princess Half Marathon weekend, Feb 23-27.

Booked it today and crossing fingers that an AP discount might come out later.
