Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

We were able to do online check in today and here are the options for the Beach Club:

So, I've never been one to believe in online check-in, because (call me crazy), I kind of like the check-in experience. When you get a good CM checking you in, you sometimes have a delightful conversation. But I did want to see what the online choices were for us at YC and Poly, and this is what I saw....

I made room requests through my travel agent, so I assume that's why they have my room location requests on file, but the pin? The account charges?
I mean my TA has my CC info...but has that already been forwarded to Disney?

And added a note that if a free upgrade to the Poly popped up, that we might be open to taking that!

Oh I would totally ask for this as well... in my opinion AKL is not an upgrade from BC...but if they really wanted to move me to another resort, I could be persuaded into GF or Poly :) GOod luck!

Dee,

We are returning to Beach Club for the 2017 Princess Half Marathon weekend, Feb 23-27.

Me too! Just booked a magical deal. Ill be there Feb 23-26 at this point. Was going to be a girls weekend but once I told my husband I was booking BC he started talking about maybe coming along with the kids... so we will see! I haven't been on this thread in a while, its good to "see" everyone :)

Dee,

Booked it today and crossing fingers that an AP discount might come out later.

We stayed at the Beach Club during this past Princess half marathon with a passholder discount. I hope they have it for your race next year.

Usually whatever pin number you had last time you stayed at Disney will be the same pin number.

Our travel agent has my credit card number, and that is the credit card that was on file when I did online check in. My travel agent must have added my card when they booked the reservation since it isn't the card I usually have on file on my MDE account.

whew... finally caught up! so much great info. this thread is the BEST on the board. :)

I just bought this fabric 4 cup carrier from Amazon a few weeks ago, so that I could carry multiple refillable mugs at once. They fit with handles, but will fit even better without.

holy crap! this was $85.01 CAD... great idea but i will need to research other options.

I burn easily, but hate wearing a ton of sunscreen, and wearing a hat all the time on vacation (I'm thinning a bit on top and at the temples).

i will concur with others that the nutragena sheer sunscreen is great! i don't like spray on my face and hate that greasy feeling... nutragena is all i use. and i also live in a very asian pocket of toronto and often see people with umbrellas in the summer. as long as it's not a giant golf umbrella and you are respectful with it, i am sure it would be fine. it is really no one's business... you could be on medication that makes it extremely dangerous for you to be exposed to sun.

Beaches & Cream Introduces 3 Varieties of Loaded Fries

these look interesting... but grated white cheddar??? that is just not right!!! ;) cheese curds or bust!!! i am curious to know about this "candied bacon"... two things i really like.. candy AND bacon.. together!!

i got my email about renos to yacht club during our stay in december. we already got it once... i guess they don't want us to forget. i hope the "oversells" issue doesn't affect YC.. we are a family of 5 so half the resorts aren't available to us and we specifically picked YC (and got park hoppers) due to it's proximity to epcot and all its yummy food options. poly, grand floridian and contemporary would push us all back to MK and animal kingdom lodge is far from everything! i have done all my ADRs based on YC so nope, we will be staying put! :)

I found the other day that people on the Cruises make these neat little things:

And I think you could decorate a 4- or 6-pack beer bottle holder even easier than making it yourself!

Yes, I have one of these that I received as a fish extender gift on our last Fantasy cruise. I mentioned this in another thread that they work really well to carry multiple cups/mugs at the same time. I believe people get the carrying cases at Sonic.

Very cute! May be a stupid question, but does the back side look the same?

I'm torn - so I am leaving you guys to make my decision for me. We currently have a 2-bedroom villa at BCV (cash, not DVC or point rental). Today a 2-bedroom suite CL opened up for our dates. It's about $1200 more total, but if I deduct the $300 I spent on a grocery order that makes it about $900 more, which isn't a huge deal for us. What would you do? Keep the villa or upgrade to the CL suite? We have two 3-year-olds and a 4-year-old with us and have never stayed at BC before....we are monorail resort people usually. Thanks in advance!

I can take some pictures of mine when I get home from the beach on Saturday. I never have any luck uploading pictures here, but maybe I can email them to Dee and she can upload them? I just need her email address.

Dee has posted it before in the thread so I feel okay posting it. beach club dee at yahoo

I would vote for the CL 2-bedroom. It is closer to SAB. You might want to double check that you like the sleeping layout differences. Also a quick question to consider: would you miss the Kitchen and the full size Fridge in the BCV?

Checking your stay tags, it looks like you are familiar with the CL offerings, so you know what is available.

@Regan117 - I agree with Dave, especially since it seems you are accustomed to CL. And certainly, there are more benefits to staying CL - the food, yes, but also mousekeeping and having the resources to help with your planning . I don't know if either are important to you, but they are both definite bonuses.

Wouldn't we get mousekeeping in the villa with a cash reservation? I don't know that the IPO would be of much benefit at this point 44 days out - we already have everything reserved as far as dining and special events. Grrr...I cannot make a decision for the life of me.

Also, does anyone have any current info/pics of the suite? I am having a hard time finding anything from after the rooms were renovated. Is the fridge a small one? We have had full size fridges in CL suites before (at the Contemporary most recently). Just trying to weigh my options. I was really leaning towards the villa because of the kids...seems more laid back. But the location of the suite is very tempting. Sorry for all the questions...I am completely unfamiliar with this resort!

Actually @Regan117 would get daily housekeeping because they are booked at BCV on a Cash reservation.

The 2 bedroom villa will give you a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, two separate bathrooms, a living room area where everyone can relax, a master bedroom with a king bed, and a lot of room to move around.

The Club level suite won't be on the same floor as the club lounge, which might make it inconvenient to use the lounge if you have to trudge up there with three young kids. And it is a lot of extra cash. I love 2 bedroom villas. A lot of people love club level. So it is really up to you and how you want to plan your vacation.

I especially love hearing from lottery commissioners informing me I have won a ton of money, but it hasn't gone to my head so far!
