Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Now I remember when we stayed at the Yacht Club that we shared buses with either the Beach Club or the Boardwalk? Is that still the case?

YC and BC (almost) always share buses. YC is picked up and dropped off first, I believe.

The YC/BC resort buses to MK (and maybe AK) rarely share with the BWI, but we have had a few reports of sharing last summer to the MK.

Not sure if the resort buses typically share with other EPCOT resorts to/from Disney Springs.

:)

According to the Shop Parks app, they are not currently sold anywhere outside Epcot.

Thanks for checking on that.

To the OP @busymommy2pink if you have a park ticket you can use maybe one person could go into park and check in the gift shop right at the International Gateway. You are in Canada, right? Do you know anyone from your area going before your trip next year? Perhaps someone could purchase and send to you before your trip.

Heads up! I know we're all into that magic scent at the BC/YC....and CR for those interested.
I was at TJMaxx yesterday (do they have those outside New England?) and I was in the aisle where they sell bath products, because they usually sell H20+ products HEAVILY discounted there, and I came across this hand soap by Method called "Sea Spray," and lo and behold....it's the scent we love. I'm not sure if it's 100%, but it's pretty darn close and it was marked down to $2.39. Just an FYI. :flower1:

Thank you for that. Being in Canada, I can't even get the app! They did have them four years ago, but can see why they wouldn't.

We don't have anyone going before us, but we do have park hoppers. So since it's a pool day on arrival, I won't use a ticket for that, but our first park works out to be MK, so we will just monorail to Epcot and walk through to get "home" and grab the passports :)

Thanks for the replies!

That is almost always the way I go back to the resort after a morning at MK!

SLB question--we will be there in a couple of weeks. How warm is the water? We were planning a lot of pool time, especially during the heat of the day. I am hearing the pools are heated and non-refreshing (of course with the hot temps alone I imagine they stay pretty warm) but seriously why heat a pool in the Florida summer?

I don't have first-hand experience of the SAB pool (our first stay is in November!). However, in the summers in the south, pool water gets warm. It really has nothing to do with the pool being heated or not. It works the same as your air heater does. When the water reaches below a certain temperature, the heat kicks on. If it is already above that temperature, there's no need to heat it. But think about this: if it's 100° out, and the pool is even as warm as 80°, it will feel relatively cooler than the outside air. But, it's doubtful that the water will be "chilly."

I just did a check on the ocean temps at Daytona Beach for today - 85°! But I still find it refreshing on a hot day!

When I went to do our online check in this morning for the Villas I had a request that I had never heard of before. What would be considered the Mansion Area??? :confused3:confused3

This makes me wonder if seats will be available in the mornings since the Yacht is picked up first.

Not going to lie to you. We often comment that the pool feels like bathwater. But it also will at the Contemporary, or the Polynesian, or All-Stars or Saratoga Springs. In the summer in Florida temperatures are normally in the mid to upper 90s. You have to expect that the pools will be quite warm. I sincerely doubt however, that they are heating the pool in addition To Mr. Sun doing his job.

That said, even bathwater feels refreshing when the temperature outside feels like it's over 100°. And we find the pool here at BC/YC along with the pool at BWI to be refreshing despite the fact that it is not icy cold. For comparison purposes, we live north of Boston, and are just emerging from a heatwave, and we're discussing the fact that our own pool at home feels like bathwater at this point. It's the curse of the summer. But hey, you're at Disney World, and it's better than no pool at all, right?

Piggy backing off this post, I hope they heat the pools more so in January when we go! We want to swim and I am hoping the pools are heated since I hear January can dip into the 50's.

If you are trying to make rope drop the buses will be busy. Sometimes you will get a seat, sometimes not. If you are worried about it, it is a very short walk to the YC bus stop. You can walk over there and increase your chances.
This is true of every bus everywhere at busy times.

We were there once in the spring, and the amazing thing was the pool was so cold. Freezing. It took a couple of warmer days before we could enjoy. Yet, I consistently have hard they heat the pools year round.

Bus question for anyone who has visited recently. We will be staying at BC for the first time in about a week:-). Is it just the YC we share a bus with, or do we share with other resorts as well?

I was just going to ask about this! Was wondering if the YC bus stop was a short walk. For MK we may do that.

Way back when they would share with BW and Swan/Dolphin. I haven't seen them share with anyone other than YC/BC in the last 3 or 4 years.

YC/BC is basically one big resort with different theming on each side. The walk from one side to the other isn't any longer than 10 min at most.

For rope drop (from any hotel) we just take a taxi to contemp and walk. Buses are always way too crowded for our own personal liking. Our first trip we shared with bwi, s&d and YC. I remember HATING it. But that was about 5 years ago.

As for the pool, we've gone in August and sept and the pools are warm, but like someone pointed out, compared to outside of the pool, it felt great! We found night swimming was the ultimate refresher!

5 minutes from lobby to lobby. Timed it!

First time we stayed at the BC in July 2009, I remember thinking the pool felt warm.

We stayed again in July 2010 and July 2013, but I can't remember feeling that the pool was unusually warm.

Stays in August 2014 and August 2015- I thought the pool felt great!

So it was really the first year that it was noticeably warm, not sure if it was because it was the first time we swam in the summer or if it was just the conditions at the time.
