Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Read a rumor just today about new DVC coming with views of WS and into Epcot.....fits the bill.....
The rumor I've heard is that the next DVC is slated for the Caribbean Beach. The CBR is located behind World Showcase so if the units were tall enough, there would be a great view of Epcot.

Well I decided to change my reservation from AKL CL (love it) to somewhere new and try YC CL Lagoon view after our cruise in Nov 2017. I chose it for location and the pool and more upscale adult feel to the resort, as well as we might catch the last few days of food and wine in 2017. I've stayed at the Beach Club CL in 2011 prior to renos but didn't "love" it. It was too busy and kind of sterile to me, not very friendly. I hope to like the YC better, I really like the nautical theme of the resort, it is so elegant. I don't see a ton of love for the YC, most people tend to pick BC. I'm Hoping it's mostly because of families -- have you stayed at YC and loved it?? Please give me your thoughts and reviews. Has anyone stayed Club Level at YC? I'd love to know how the offerings where and if the lounge was nice and welcoming? I am hoping I will love YC and not regret changing my reservation from AKL ☺️
Thanks for sharing your thouhts!
Not only did we love it we were so sad to come home again. It was like being welcomed by family when we stayed YC CL back in 2013. All the staff knew us by name and everything was well organised and the concierge staff were so patient and kind helping us sort out our dining credits and experience reservations and giving us tips on how to get around besides the buses and the monorail. When people take the time to find out your little quirks and allergies it make you feel good about your time there. We only had to ask in the lounge if we couldn't see something we wanted or needed and it would be found and prepared for us asap. Believe me when I say those desserts and wines were truly appreciated after long days in the park and we loved the beers too just one on the balcony at the end of the day watching the sun go down over SAB was magical enough before we caught sight of the fireworks. Wow they knew exactly where to situate those buildings close to the two parks and both within walking distance of the resorts it was a breeze to enjoy the surroundings there. So many dining options close by too we did get spoiled for choice and now there are even more when you see the new places just opened in Disney Springs. Even the Boardwalk has a couple of new additions. Looking forward to our return next year so much.

After making 3 different reservations and cancelling them I have finally settled back in at my beloved YC. Last March I stayed at the Swan and enjoyed it and had 3 nights booked this upcoming Sept. for F&W but lo and behold, was looking today and rooms opened at YC for less than I was paying when you factor in the resort and parking fee so I cancelled and booked YC. I'll be doing 2 night CSR 9/12 -14 then at YC 9/14-18. F&W here I come (getting my third trip on my AP before it expires 9/20). There were no warnings on the booking page about refurbs so imagine my shock when rooms became available during F&W and at an AP rate.

DVC representative told us while we were at CBR earlier this month that CBR was the next resort scheduled to add DVC rooms. I was surprised that they would add that to a moderate resort but I guess they see enough of a demand. I'm wondering how much cheaper they will be than the ones at the deluxe resorts. I wonder if they will be more like the prices at Saratoga Springs and Old Key West, more expensive because they will be newer, or cheaper because they will be at a larger resort where transportation is already a problem.

So.... What's new?

I'll certainly do my best to monitor the news and rumors regarding upcoming work at the Yacht Club. Nothing surprises me anymore, but this is the first I have heard about YC/DVC.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing what you know.

Regardless of who told you, this is an unsubstantiated rumor at this time. There is a large amount of land available next to - but not necessarily attached to CBR. There is also a long standing rumor that DVC will be being built at Fort Wilderness. "They" even reported land being cleared for the project. Never happened.
Only time will tell

My husband isn't a big fan of Disney either. We have gone yearly for the past 10 years because my children and myself love it. We make it work by him staying at the resort until 2-3pm and then either he meets us at the parks after that or we all go together in the late afternoon. He loves lounging around the pool during the day and enjoys the nice sit down dinners we have every night. Sometimes I go earlier to the parks with the kids via bus/boat and that works out fine also. Just and idea but this has worked for many years for us. I think sometimes people just don't like to go commando because they don't feel like it's a relaxing vacation. We go for a longer time and take our time and relax a lot and it works out great.
I "HEAR" ya! We really try to make time to relax and enjoy the resorts, pools, etc. :cheer2::beach:

I was sooo excited to see FF was opening early August, but ....... What did they do to the menu!!!

Sticking to Yachtsman for our wedding anniversary. But wait..... They have a new menu too. What!!! $145 for a steak .. I don't care if it's Japanese beef. It's 6oz. Sheesh. Maybe counter service
What!!!! WOW! Must be wagu (sp?) beef! Crazy! I hope they still have some "cheaper" cuts lol - thankful I'll be on the ddp!

What's the best rooms to request at YC Club level?? Do I need to request close to lobby for example? What floor?? I'd love a king bed. I've never stayed at the YC so am unfamiliar with the layout and best rooms to request. We have a club level lagoon view booked

Land cleared, and we've seen the blue prints (amazing plans, IMO). But plans change constantly. It wouldn't surprise me to see all 3 eventually happen (CBR, FW, and YC), or some combination of these, but it's all rumor still, and I'm sorry if I flamed any rumor fires earlier. Though I'm sure DVC would love a piece of YC, there are blocking issues for that, and good reasons it hasn't happened so far. Maybe the YC expansion someone heard being discussed had to do with expanding the convention center, a pool, a kitchen, a lounge, concierge rooms, the parking lot, staffing levels, or who knows what?

All of the YC Club Level rooms are on the 5th floor. "King Bed, please" should be your priority request as there are limited rooms with this bedding configuration. You could add "Close to lobby/lounge, if possible" as a secondary request.

Has anyone ever estimated the percentage of BC rooms that have a day bed?

No. It is one of the things I wish I knew but I have absolutely no clue! We now have that fancy-schmancy view and description map, but that doesn't list which rooms have daybeds and which ones don't.

:(

BTW- I have offered numerous times to visit every room in the resort to take pictures and write up descriptions, but so far Disney has not taken me up on it. I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way...

Is the address for the Prime Now delivery the one listed at the beginning of the thread or will I need to call Bell Services to get their address? Thanks in advance!
:welcome:

I believe the address at the front of the thread is what you should use.

Forgot to ask you when your stay is and if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Hello Yacht/Beach Club lovers! So it's only been a few months since my honeymoon and first ever trip to Disney World. I'm already getting the itch to go back! Not sure how soon we will be going back but the fun process of planning is a way to keep me satisfied! My wife and I stayed for 10 days at the Yacht Club and we had a blast. The hotel was so nice but what we really loved was the convenient location with how easy it was to get to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Besides Magic Kingdom, walking around World Showcase was one of our favorite things to do! One thing that we realized though was that we barely spent any time at the hotel itself. We really only used the hotel for sleep since we were out at the parks each entire day. While we didn't mind splurging for a beautiful deluxe resort for our honeymoon, it was in the back of our minds how much money we paid just to sleep at night! Unless we want to go broke from continuing to visit Disney we may need a new resort plan. This is where you all come in!

I'm sure many of you have loves for other (less expensive) resorts and I would love to hear from anyone. To help out with your suggestions, here is what my wife and I care about the most. The biggest thing we liked about the yacht club was it's location as I said before. We enjoyed the quick trips over to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. More so Epcot since waiting and riding the boat to HS still took a good amount of time. We don't want to rent a car so we will be using Disney's transportation to the park. When we pick a new resort we will be relying on bus service for all parks this time so it would be nice to pick a resort that has a good reputation with it's bus service. We also don't care much about Disney Springs so being close to that doesn't really matter. Same thing goes for Animal Kingdom. AK was fun but our loves for MK/Epcot/HS is what really matters!

I think we are just worried, after being spoiled our first time in Disney, that we will have a bit of disappointment if we choose a value or moderate resort. We can't justify though spending $400+ a night just to sleep. I'm sure you Disney pros will have some great suggestions. Thank you!

You have set an impossible task. ;) Nothing compares to the location of Epcot resorts. Moderate resorts, except for POFQ, have multiple bus stops and multiple buildings. Value resorts have one bus stop but the lines can get very long. Port Orleans French Quarter has one bus stop but sometimes share with Riverside. The large resorts can get huge lines at night. What you might want to consider is finding a cheaper way to stay at an Epcot or MK area resort. Some travel agents offer exclusive deals. Another option is to rent points for a DVC studio.

What she said ^^^

What time of year are you thinking? Do you have flexibility in your dates. There are many places other than booking with Disney where you can sometimes find discounted deals, or even through Disney when they are offering specials.

:thumbsup2

It's official - we're going back home! Not for 674 days, but it's something! We had such an amazing time on our trip this past June that we decided to return in 2018. Wish it was next year, but DH isn't obsessed as the girls and I are and asked for a year off in between. We adored the YC so we will definitely be going back - can't wait to see the rooms after the refurb. Tentative dates are June 2-12. Now to keep myself busy for two years...

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list, which we have already started for 2008. There are others sharing your pain.

But hang out here and we will do our best to fan the excitement for your upcoming trip.

:woohoo:

My wife was so impressed with YC this past weekend, that we switched our F&W trip from BWI to YC. Dates are the same, September 21 to 25.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

Does anyone know if the marketplace at beach club still sells the Epcot passports? I'm really hoping to avoid going to Epcot on day one, but want to let them work on their passports in the room :)

Good question! Don't know but hopefully some of our friends who are there now or soon can let us know. Maybe near where the autograph books are displayed, and/or the pins.

Hey! :welcome: back!

So glad you were able to book part of your stay here.

I'll add you to the list.

Thanks for posting the info you have heard.

Definitely going to be interesting to hear where the next DVC expansions will take place.

Now I remember when we stayed at the Yacht Club that we shared buses with either the Beach Club or the Boardwalk? Is that still the case?
