One bedrooms vs. studios

As a new DVC owner (very new; just planned our first trip) I'm a bit frustrated by the fact that a lot of the 1-bedroom villas only sleep 4, while some of the smaller studios will accommodate 5.

Our two daughters used to be okay with sharing a bed, but nowadays since they are 13 and 16 they won't do it (I don't blame them). So we really prefer to have a space with 3 sleeping surfaces. I knew about this going in but figure we'll be able work around it most of the time. This was my one big hesitation about buying at CCV, but we love it there and want to be able to experience some Christmases by taking advantage of the 11-month window.

I'd say this falls into the category of problems that are nice to have 8-) but just curious to hear the thoughts of others.

My kids also did not share a bed. We generally looked for 2BRs, because I also want to have the living room be a space in which no one sleeps. The 1BR->2BR points premium is a lot lower than the Studio->1BR jump, so it is less painful.

Yea its pretty odd, some of that is retro fit too, like BWV and BCV originally studios and 1 br were both 4, then they added the pull down sleeper under the TV in a remodel and that gave sleeping surfaces for 5 in studio, its why at BWV and BCV if you are staying on points they allow 5 people but still only provide bedding for 4. They don't allow 5 for cash stays in same rooms though.

A lot of people will bring a small blow up mattress to use in them, could be something that might work for you?

We have the same struggle with our kids (16 and 19). This past summer we stayed in a resort studio at VGF and absolutely loved it! It was more spacious than a studio resort and had two full beds and a couch that convert into a bed. We also like the studios at RIV, BLT, Poly and AKL.

The resort studios are very nice indeed, I love having two full-time beds in addition to the couch. I just wish there was some way for the couch to face the TV.
