Would you still go to the water park if SAB is open and you're staying at BC/YC? If thrill slides aren't your thing, is it worth the trek over to one of the WP's? Curious as someone who's never been to any of the above mentioned, and staying at BCV Sept 2025.
Personally, if SAB is open, we'd go enjoy the pool on our first day - a little more relaxing than running off to the water park (especially if thrill slides are not important). On the other hand, if SAB is open, you'll likely have access to it all week, but would only have the 'free' water park that first day, so maybe something different to consider! So I guess that's a definite maybe and a non-answer for you!

Both water parks have great wave pools & amazing lazy rivers. We haven’t been in years, but that’s where we always spent most of our time. The lazy river in SAB is fine, but nothing like the ones in the water parks. Blizzard Beach also has a kids play area if you have children with you. SAB has a shallow sandy pool area for toddlers/ preschool kids but no splash pad.

Hahaha thanks, as it's going to be our first time to WDW, I think the running around on arrival day would be better spent easing into the fun and exploring the resort/boardwalk. We have 6 park-hopper days starting the day after arrival, so I think a WP day sounds too exhausting, even with no kids.

Has anyone stayed in one of these standard 2 queen rooms that overlook the port cochere? I didn’t know these existed and now super interested! Would love to find some pics or video!

If you are talking about BC, we stayed in those rooms on the first floor overlooking the lobby pre-shutdown. At the time, they were king rooms without a balcony. Not sure if they could hold two queens since they’ve got a weird layout. Convenient location but VERY noisy. Would not recommend for most travel parties, unless you need room for an ECV or pack&play, they’d be good for that.

I think that @sweetpee_1993 was talking about the 4 rooms on the 3rd floor. above the porte-cochere entrance. They are all 2 Queen rooms.

YES! Third floor above the porte cochere! They’re marked on TP room finder as double queens. We are going and bringing my aunt. We will have 2 ECVs. My aunt has fused bones in her ankle so can’t walk a lot. I’ll be on the tail end of radiation treatment so I’m planning to reserve an ECV for me and my impacted stamina then take it as needed. I spotted those sideways rooms today. Found some pics of what I think is one of them….but of course it makes me itch to see more detail! LOL!

Why do these 4 rooms interest you?

I would suggest a 1st floor room to allow for easy access. Moving 2 ECVs via the elevators takes a while. And the view from those rooms are terrible and somewhat noisy do to the near constant traffic below. It starts very early and also runs late into the evening.

Space. I think the configuration is interesting. I’ve stayed in almost all the deluxes and villas, various levels and layouts. It’s intriguing to find something interesting. I’d prefer to be able to bring the ECVs into the room at night, too. So it’s space more than anything. But yeah, I thought about the elevator situation too.

For me, it's a family trip and we plan to do WP on day of arrival. How do we know which WP to expect?

How busy are the other pools with SAB being closed? Thanks all.
I can only speak to the Dunes cove pool. This is typically referred to as the quiet pool. We travel frequently in early Feb. to the BCV. In the AM the pool has a few lap swimmers and more than a few people using the hot tub. By lunch most of the sunny spots and tables are taken and by 1:00 there is limited seating, the pool is very busy(like I've never seen before and we also travel in Oct during F & W) and the hot tub is full with water over flowing at times. This continues until early evening and then slows, but is still way more crowded than usual. The hot tub is busy well into the the 9pm-11pm range. Pack you patience for the pools especially as the weather gets warmer as the pools really are quite small.

I agree with those saying the Dunes pool is busy. We were there on Feb. 15th which was a hot day. We got to the pool around 1:30pm. There were only 2 chairs available, and they were in full sun which was very hot. We jumped in the pool for a few minutes, grabbed a sliver of the hot tub for a few minutes (which was almost completely full of children playing marco polo), and then left. We then proceeded to switch our early June reservation to another hotel. The Dunes pool is our usual go-to place (more than SAB if I'm being honest), and it's just too crowded right now. It's also much louder too.

In the king version on the first floor, there would have been lots of room for ECVs inside the room. If the two queen ones are the same size, I can see the space being tight.

We liked the location of the first floor ones, because we could just take the lobby stairs. With an ECV, you’d be stuck with the elevator so I agree with the PP that a ground floor room pretty much anywhere would be more convenient. The elevators can be brutally slow, and at peak times stroller/ECV folks are often stuck waiting if the elevator arrives on your floor already full.

Is an accessible room an option? They might have more floor space for inside ECV storage.

Only 1 WP will be open for your arrival day. You can easily check in MDE Home screeen under Park Hours & Information. Just select you arrival day on the Calendar and scroll down to which WP is open and the hours.

Right now Blizzard Beach shows Open and has hours until April 5th. The Calendar goes out to May 6th but both WPs show as closed. No they both will not be closed the selection has just not been updated.

Look at the room finder views on Touring Plans. I think that will change your mind. You are looking at the roof of the lobby, others roofs as well, and there is no balcony. A few comments said to avoid these rooms.

I found these rooms on the TP room finder. We don’t use balconies or anything. The view isn’t a huge deal. But I’ll be going back to study more. Thank you so much! 😉

Pool hopping for dvc members is still officially suspended right?
