Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Sorry but you can't be sure that you will get a shower stall. For a regular room reservation, you may get either a Tub or a walk-in shower at the YC. You can always make a request for a room with a shower vs a tub but it is just a request. There are quite a few walk-in showers (your term step-in) since it is a Convention hotel.

If you need a confirmed specific bathroom configuration, you need to book an Accessible room: Water View. Wheelchair accessible with tub and option for hearing accessibility. 2 queen beds. It will have Wheelchair-Accessible Route in Room, and Grab Bars at Toilet and Tub.

Dave

We ended up in one of these rooms by accident on our last YC stay only it was a King (probably because there were only 2 of us). I had only requested to be close to the elevator to avoid the super long walk to the lobby, but we were assigned accessible. Tbh it ended up being useful because my gf injured her foot when we were leaving the house for the airport so the grab bar was actually a godsend. Our room also had the automatic door into it and gf liked to pretend to use the Force to open it. 🤣

Just got back from Yacht Club. We originally were booked at POFQ and were upgraded, which I was really excited for. We got the King Bed we requested and loved having the couch in the room. Minus having a microwave, it felt more like a DVC studio. Our room was on the quiet pool side, 3rd floor. The area was quiet and we never heard anything but some booms from fireworks at night. There is some noise from construction out by the lighthouse but that didn’t bother us. We enjoyed using the friendship boats to Epcot (we walked it once and then used the boats. Our feet hurt) and HS. We also thought the lobby was beautiful and loved the smell. We did have a few disappointments though and I probably would have been upset had I paid full price. The resort seemed boring. The weather was cool but I only saw kids activities by the pool once. (I saw very few kids there, maybe d/t the pool refurbishment) You had to go down to BC for marshmallows/movie. The lobby music is basic elevator music and it just didn’t “feel Disney”. I also noted there are no outlets/USB ports on the nightstands. We had to plug in by the TV, and the bathroom was really small.( The door misses the toilet by less than 1/2 inch.) The hot tub was lukewarm at best. these are nit picky issues and we enjoyed our stay but I would not have been happy paying top dollar at this resort. Maybe it was just us, and YC just wasn’t a good fit, I just wanted to share our experience.

Bold sounds odd to me because I could swear we've had the nightstand outlets in our rooms? They added them in the last round of renos. I'm sorry you had a disappointing experience though. I had a lousy time the first time I stayed there, second was a lot better and I enjoyed it but I agree that it is a bit dull. I think because it's a convention resort they tend to have a lighter touch of Disney than at other resorts. (Though I do love the constellation curtains!) We are glad to try BWI for our next Crescent Lake/mono split in May. The theming feels more whimsical. YC is great for a split stay I think, but I would be bored there for a whole week.

Curious to know what room # you were in. I thought all the doors to the toilet room had been switched over to the pocket door in the 2017 renovations. Also we've always had outlets and USB ports on the nightstand there. Wondering if you got an oddly configured room. We've had one there that was oddly shaped so didn't have the barn door to the sink area, so they do seem to have some non-standard configured rooms there.

And I don't think I've ever noticed music in the lobby. Now I'm going to have to pay better attention!

I've never actually noticed it while I'm there but the loop pops up pretty often on Sorcerer Radio and I'll be listening and will instantly recognize it! It's very weird lol. I guess it doesn't register with me as much when I'm there because it's very mellow and kinda fades into the background. Or it could be ADHD brain.

Wait, is it the same music they play on the buses to the YC/BC with the seagulls? That's the only YC music I think I'd recognize. :rotfl:

Quick review of the Nantucket Suite, as those specialty rooms tend to get less info on.

This is a peculiar “VP” suite, as it is a one-bedroom only, which will sleep up to 4 people.

We had never stayed at the Beach Club before, but the decor felt upgraded vs the standard rooms and suites, based on what I could see.

The room is quite spacious and the decoration is lovely. We particularly liked the bathroom, with a tube including bath amenities and a very spacious walk-in shower.

We also appreciated the 1/2 bath by the entrance, which came in handy as we had four people in our party.

The balcony off the living room was nice, with a couple of chairs and enough space. It overlooks the back entrance courtyard to the left and the boardwalk to the right. There is also a second small balcony off the bedroom, overlooking SAB pool (which was unfortunately closed for deep maintenance).

The only negative aspect was the pullout bed in the living room. The mattress is thin and not particularly comfortable.

Happy to answer any questions!

We were in 3104. No pocket door to the bathroom. It seemed like it was maybe an alternate layout? There were 2 closets (one on each side leading to the bathroom) we thought the room looked like it needed an upgrade. We searched and searched for USB ports or even plug ins by the bed. The plugs were in use for lamps. I just have one room picture it may not show much. We did like having the couch and king bed!!!

Oh wow, yeah it looks like the nightstand that has all the plugs isn't in this room. Now I'm wondering if this is normal for king bed rooms or if this is just an alternate layout, we've only been in the rooms with two queens. Usually in the two queen rooms the nightstand between the bed has a bunch of plugs, then on the side of one bed is a desk with more plugs, and on the side of the other bed is a tiny shelf which I believe also has plugs (I'm usually in the bed next to the desk so I don't remember).

It definitely isn’t normal for king bed rooms, I’ve been in them twice at YC and had plugs in the nightstand both times with the little side shelf too. There are a handful of quirky rooms at YC and BC that are oddly configured though.

We stayed in a YC King room a couple of years ago, and it looks very similar to the photo... We had room 3104 in Feb 2022. It does connect with room 3106. It has a small bathroom with single sink in the room with the shower and toilet. There are two small closets instead of one big on like in other rooms. There is a couch/fold out bed and coffee table. The coffee pot sits on a small mini bar and sink over cabinets containing fridge. View is not anything to brag about, but we were comfortable and I liked having the nice sitting area. But we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, since our DD, SIL and DGS were staying in the room next door - very handy to have the door between so we could babysit while mom and dad has a nice dinner alone.

Yep, that is the room. We enjoyed the room but the bathroom was tiny. No way could DH and I get in there at the same time. We liked the minibar area but mostly I used it as my sink/mirror to get ready while DH showered. View was a tree, with a little bit of pool but that didn’t matter to us, like you, we weren’t in the room much.

I think so! That's one of them anyway, there's a few. I found it on YouTube.

I've always loved the background music at the Yacht and Beach Club. An interesting note though-one of my favorites was "How Great Thou Art" just because I enjoyed the tune. However, knowing it's a hymn, I used to wonder how long it would be before some guest would decide to be "offended". Sure enough, on my latest visit, I noticed that in the entire week, I never heard that one, so I guess they took it out of the rotation. And it was so freezing and miserable out that I had plenty of time to listen to background music. I spent almost an entire day sitting and reading in the Drawing Room.

I had the Nantucket booked but cancelled it because I didn't want to look at the Stormalong Bay refurb. Did you find it easy to ignore since there is a second balcony with a different view?

I would say yes, as the main balcony is the one off the living room, which is more of a courtyard/boardwalk view.

As it was our first stay in the property, however, I do not have a comparable base as to what the pool looks like! One aspect I though of is that because of the refurbishment, it was very quiet, as there was no one in the pool. And the construction noise was barely noticeable in the morning.

After staying at the Beach Club for the first time, I really enjoyed the location. For our next trip in 2025, I am now torn at going for a 2 bedroom villa or getting two Cabins at Fort Wilderness. Most of our trips have been at the Fort, as we like the secluded and peaceful location, plus the parking right outside your cabin door.

But being able to walk to Epcot in under 10 minutes is a real plus for us, as we like to have lunch/dinner there and the option of watching the nighttime show and walk back to the hotel.

We were quite spoiled with the Nantucket Suite and the club access, but honestly prefer to cook our own breakfast in the morning.

In terms of space, what do you all think about the 2 bedroom villa for a party of 5??

In terms of price, two cabins would be cheaper than a 2-bedroom villa.

Decisions, decisions ....

I would suggest the 2BR Villa. For us, on vacation, time is money and you would save a lot of time and hassle with the 2BR Villa. Everyone is in one large space vs having to go between 2 cabins. Quicker access to EP and DHS. So many dining options within the area without needing to hop in a car or a bus.

Booking Beach Club and prefer water view bc I don't want a parking lot view. Are they still saying Stormalong Bay is a water view?
