Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

There will be Activities posted daily, due to the pool closure. Here are today’s activities for Monday 1/13.
I hope they figure out how to post a readable Activity sheet that does not involve "Align Center" formatting. They had to know this closure was coming well in advance since it was posted early last year, and could have planned something more organized for Activities Sheet. I am not complaining about the individual activities just the display of the information.

Anybody able to confirm that Hurricane Hanna's Grill is closed for the duration of the SAB refurbishment? It shows as closed on MDE as of today.

Dave

Love that they are planning activities for everyone! 70 days to go!
It looks like Hurricane Hanna's Grill is closed along with SAB. The entry on MDE shows it closed and on the MDE map is has not Dining Icon. I know we were discussing this earlier. Maybe someone will provide an update on what is happening at the other 3 resort pools.

That’s a bummer. Hopefully it will reopen in late March when I am there for an outside drinking area.

FWIW, the note on the HH page on the website reads:

From January 2025 through June 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance. Hurricane Hanna's Waterside Bar & Grill will also be closed during this time. Guests dining at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop may see or hear construction work during daytime hours.

And the Beaches & Cream page has a blurb that says the same thing:

Another stealth update but they have not bothered to update MDE which is where they want everyone to go these days. It just says "Closed" in Red and if you are color blind it is not even Red.

I am still trying to figure out the Guest room update story since they removed the notice on the YC Overview page on the web over the weekend.

I’m not completely surprised it’s closed during the refurb, but feel bad that a QS option for YC/BC guests is not available at a resort that is already limited in QS options.
Did they take out the part about the YC room refurbs?

Granted you have to scroll down, but the same text is in the app, FYI
That was my point there should be something like an * (see below) since guests are not going to scroll down. They will just see the Closed and move on since it will be closed for about 6 months.

tbh it was a major reason we opted for BWI instead for our annual May trip. We are actually not crazy about SAB, it’s the disruptions with the closure that are more worrisome to us. When the “grounds” at the resort are mostly a pool complex under refurb, noise seems inescapable (and we are midday nappers), and it’s down a QS location, I can’t see paying those rates.

To confirm, a poster asked on FB last night if HH is still open and someone that’s there replied No. I’m keeping an eye on the thread for anything new I can share here! lol

Stormalong Bay & Shipwreck Pool Now Closed at Yacht & Beach Club for 5-Month Refurbishment

The popular Stormalong Bay & Shipwreck pool is now closed at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort as an extensive refurbishment begins. The latest from Walt Disney World is that the pool will be closed for 5 months, reopening sometime in June.

The sand-bottom Stormalong Bay pool has been drained, with crews working on removing the sand this afternoon. Crews were also working on the hot tubs in the pool area when we visited. The Shipwreck pool still has water, but likely not for long. Walt Disney World hasn’t said what kind of work will take place during the closure, but 5 months is not a short refurbishment, so we’ll have to keep an eye on the work as it progresses.

Here’s a walk around the pool area, taking a first look at the refurbishment work underway today.

The pool bar, Hurricane Hanna’s, is also closed during the refurbishment of the pools.

With the pools closed, so too is the Shipwreck slide.
