Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Our reservation at YC starts on July 25 (we are at the GF July 20-25). What are the odds that pool construction will be finished by that time? I love YC/BC but keep going back and forth if I should just change it while the AP rates are still plentiful.

Very good. It is scheduled to be done end of June. If it gets extended I expect an announcement from Disney as SAB is very important to those hotels.

I'm booked for the 1st week in July and I received an email this morning saying Stormalong Bay will "be unavailable for routine maintenance". I know it's being done "through June" but my hope when I booked was it would be done by the week of the 4th. It's really anyone's guess, just letting people know the communication I got if they are booking in July. I'm still hoping that end of June timeline somehow works out.

Disney tends to err on the side of caution when it comes to notifying guests about resort refurbs, I find. Like they have been sending out emails about GF lobby construction for the past year and more despite it not having gotten started at all. I think with that SAB email they are trying to cover themselves just in case the construction does run past the stated timeframe. If it finishes on time, no harm no foul. But if it doesn't, then people are at least warned.

It should have a 100% chance of being open well before July 20th and a 99.99% chance of being open by July 1st.

I would imagine SAB lifeguards have been shifted to other resorts or BB during the refurbishment. I vaguely remember hearing that was the main reason they can't keep both water parks open at the same time, they wouldn't be able adequately staff the resort pools as well on top of both parks.
When I was at BCV in January, some of the lifeguards were still there, taking part in other activities. The Yacht and Beach Club had an increase in activities available, due to Stormalong Bay being unavailable. Disney trivia, Goofy Bingo, about 6-7 activities every day, and some CMs who'd been life guards were working those activities.

I'm sort of shocked at the optimism TBH! Disney make an announcement about anything resort related? 8-)

We all know how this goes - someday someone will randomly notice they updated the note on the website to say "July." Or we'll get a report from someone with a July reservation that Disney called to offer to move, then another report, etc, then we'll be in no man's land of knowing nothing.

Now granted, Disney doesn't have a track record of blatantly blowing past posted dates on things like this so I personally wouldn't be concerned, but still. :-)

For me, it's a family trip and we plan to do WP on day of arrival. How do we know which WP to expect?

We are considering the same WP issue for our September trip! We want to use our free WP day when we check into Beach Club. I wish we knew for sure what was going to be open. Looking at the last few years:
a. Typically Typhoon Lagoon is open from mid-March to early November; and
b. Typically Blizzard Beach is open from early November to mid-March.
They have just mixed this up a little bit by announcing that Blizzard Beach will remain open through April and that Typhoon Lagoon will reopen on May 1st. So, unless there is a really major change, I still expect Typhoon Lagoon to be the one open in September.

What are the odds that four people in a resort view room at BC will get the fold down couch bed? We have a large teen who needs his own bed, another child and two adults.

It somewhat depends on how many groups of (5) have reservations overlapping your visit. Have you added this request to your Resort reservation? You want it noted on your reservation, call again after 10 days and confirm your request is noted on your reservation, and check at the Front desk as soon as you arrive at the BC.

If you are doing Online Check-in, as soon as you get your room number by SMS Txt or as a message in MDE. Again verify with the Front desk that your room has a day bed or ask if there is a BC room that would have a day bed.

Facade Work Begins at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort While Construction Continues on Stormalong Bay Pool

Facade work has begun at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort as construction continues on Stormalong Bay Pool.

Construction workers on ladders repairing a building exterior with white walls and large windows, under a clear blue sky.

In our last update, we reported that crews had begun jackhammering work in the main area of the pool. Construction work has now begun on the building’s facade. Some paneling pieces around the windows have been removed.

Workers in safety vests are on ladders, painting or renovating the exterior of a white building with large windows and a sloped roof.
White coverings along the windows have been placed over some of the framework as work continues.

Construction workers in safety gear stand and work inside a fenced area of a white gazebo under a clear blue sky.House exterior under renovation with a partially installed window covered in protective wrap. A ladder and white railing are visible in the foreground.

Sections of grey siding have been removed from the building’s exterior and plywood is now visible. There is also black weather material and a white cloth covering certain areas.

Some pathways are blocked and a sign informs guests that the area is currently being renovated.

Workers in orange shirts and hard hats are constructing by a building with a staircase. Some are bent over working on the ground.

Jackhammer work continues in the pool. Crews have moved from the central area of the pool to the side closer to EPCOT.

Crews remain at work in other areas of the pool as well.

Stormalong Bay will be closed through June 2025. During the lengthy refurbishment, guests can use the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools.

Do these displays usually go up later than the ones at Grand Floridian? We are staying at BC 3/22-28 and am so sad to be missing these! Grand Floridian's displays are said to be up starting 3/18 at least.

I'm curious about this too. I know the description of a water view room includes Stormalong Bay but what have people been experiencing during the SAB closure? Are they still placing water view bookings in those rooms? YC water view seems like a safer bet but isn’t available on the dates I’m looking at.

Only a small section of Beach Club water view rooms overlook SAB. Some of them overlook the quiet pool. Most of them overlook grassy areas facing the water.

I just keep thinking how nice it's all going to look later this year when we return for the resort and the pool!!
And I keep thinking that my 42yo daughter's first look at WDW (since the resort is the first thing you experience) is going to be so disappointing this April. I'm trying to change to Beach Club or Boardwalk Inn without success. I'm checking multiple times a day.
