This being my first time staying at WL (and my fav resort) if we got there and it was full I would prob be devastated. My wife who would be willing to stay at any deluxe prob wouldn't be fazed by it lol.

When are you going? It's pretty rare for every room in a given resort to be sold out. They may be sold out at a given promo level but if you were to check rack rate there would be rooms. So they'd have no problems getting you a room even if they over sold the rooms at your promo, if that makes sense

When we were put in a different room we stayed at WL, not moved to a different resort, just a different room category.

Has anyone gone to check in and they where booked of all the standard rooms (over booked if you will) and they had to put you in a different room due to the construction?

Given that the standard rooms are the cheapest option, it is possible all year that they might overbook this category and then "upgrade" people to courtyard view. That way you will be in a better view than paid for. Chances of the entire resort being full and you being moved to another resort (Poly etc) is very small.

We were upgraded from standard to courtyard 2 weeks ago, but we were only there for one night. It was beautiful though to have a ground floor patio just steps away from the pool & food court. Nice & relaxing!!

We will be stopping by the Wilderness Lodge during our upcoming trip. I am very curious to see how the construction is going. I'll post any decent pictures that I take.

The Wilderness Lodge Lobby Decorated

We stayed at The Wilderness Lodge in 2013 and loved it. We went back to WDW in 2015, but this time stayed at Boardwalk Villas. But we wanted to back to WL to see it all decorated for Christmas. I posted these pictures in my Trip report which I am still writing over here. I thought I would post some of the photos here, while I know they are a little out of season now, I do hope you enjoy.

Always love seeing the decorated lobby. Thank you, @lffam:)

I've only been paying half attention to all the constructions going on
I am aware of half the lodge being closed, elevators out, lobby changes, etc.
We've stayed there twice before and am trying to decide if we should give it a shot for a short trip next month
We currently have a King at POR booked (we were at POR last month and fell in love with it too) but can get a Standard View at WL for the same price.
DH loves WL best of all and we've been waiting for the construction to wrap up before returning but he's missing it. Will we be miserable with a Standard View room? It's the only category currently available, but I'll keep by eye out for a cancellation and switch if I can. I had read a post about the status of the different views but can't seem to find it here or in the construction thread.
Our next stay is back at POR so it's not like we won't be back there soon.

This advice is most likely late, but you won't be miserable at all and you'll probably be upgraded. However, an upper floor SV room now has a TPV!

This is my 3rd time staying here and it was amazing as always. With half of the resort under construction/renovation it was very quiet and not crowded at all. My standard view room had a view of the castle and watched Wishes 2 nights from the balcony. I cannot wait to go back again. Love this place.

Sounds like you had a great vacation and thank you for posting about your stay, @Grumpy247365.

Our family of four is staying for the first time June 25 - July 2nd and am very excited and curious where we will end up as well. This is my fav resort hands down as we have eaten at WC a few times but have never stayed there.

Welcome to the thread! You're going to love actually staying at WL.

We will be there June 26-July 2

I'll log your dates.

Hope you're having a magical time and we look forward, as always, to your great photos, @Wood Nymph.

Can somebody tell me the approximate time the refurb at WL will be completed? Looking to start planning a trip June 2017 and WL would be our first choice, but not if its torn up. Thanks!

There's a thread for the rehab, link in the first post of this thread. I think the guestimate is April next year
I believe, based on what I've kept up with, it's way too far off to narrow down beyond a guestimate.

On the first page it says the early busses to MK are just for breakfasts, and the boat starts running a half hour before park open. We like to be early, so is it okay if we take a bus to get to rope drop well in advance?

Yup!

I think the info on the first page should just be pointing out that folks who need to get to MK before the boat starts running will have buses to choose from. Not that they are the only ones who can use them. Buses are for everyone. They don't control who uses them for what or when.

Also remember, some of the info in the start of these threads is a bit dated. I've never been asked when boarding an early bus if I was going to an ADR or why I wanted on the bus. They come with a park named on them just like during park operating hours. Maybe what's posted by AllEars used to happen (buses ask where you are going) but that hasn't been my experience in the mornings. If you get on a bus after a park closing ADR then yes, I've had that happen. But not in the mornings.

The point that was made about the early "Breakfast" bus was to indicate that unless you have and pre-park opening ADR, you will not be allowed into the park early if you ride the "Breakfast" bus. There are currently CMs holding an iPad that query guests about ADR pre-park opening.

Note: This includes pre-EMMH ADR. The goal it to get the pre-park opening ADR guests in to make their ADR...

Ah, yes, very true, I didn't realized that folks thought they could.
And it should also include tours. For those you don't even have to be on one that starts before the park opens. Last month we did a tour at Epcot. Check in for it was at 9:30, park opened at 9:00. We were waiting to enter and DH noticed the sign said breakfast and tour entrance. We tried our bands and sure enough, we were able to enter Epcot at 8:15, with the pre park ADR people. We sat on the Starbucks steps and waited for it to open, were first to order and ate our breakfast watching the fountains dance the opening music and then walked to check in. But when we boarded the bus to get to Epcot no one asked why we were boarding early.

Just booked into the WL for Sept. 6 thru 10 and want to be ready for the construction impact, so I'll be keeping up with this forum. We haven't stayed at the WL in a few years but have always loved it in the past. The proximity to MK, the "affordability", that gorgeous lobby...just hoping we are not too disappointed in the look of the lodge and surroundings. We have a standard view booked but I wouldn't mind being "pixie-dusted" to a nicer view! The previous posts about SV rooms being oversold and some folks being upgraded is a fun thought!

We rented DVC points for our stay and I was just curious if DVC rooms ever get pixie-dusted? Anyone heard of or experienced that?

We are looking forward to our trip in September too, and are particularly excited about WL for many of the reasons you listed. Since September is usually a lower crowd time, we have had good luck in the past getting upgraded room locations while booking Standard View. Like others have said, booking Standard gets you Standard view or better, and we have wound up in the "or better" side of it during three previous WL stays getting Courtyard View once and Woods View twice. This was without making any special request other than standard room location requests in our reservation.

This year the construction does add quite a twist, because the only currently bookable categories are Standard and Courtyard View. In my opinion, since there are still a large number of formerly Woods View rooms still in use in the North wing, I think it is highly likely for someone to wind up anywhere on the North side of the North wing with a Standard view reservation. You will be able to see construction along the shoreline below your balcony, and there are fewer trees due to the construction, but your balcony will likely face MK and you may be able to see fireworks from higher floors. Of course if you really want courtyard view then booking that makes sense, because that is the only way to guarantee you will have a courtyard view room, and many people have done so to minimize construction views from their rooms.

There's always that possibility, and I have read stories of people getting larger rooms than they booked, but since there aren't the different bookable views on the DVC side I don't think there is as much opportunity to get "upgraded" to a better view since they are all considered the same. That's ok though, you'll still be at WL and any room there is great to get to stay in.

We've actually always booked standard and have more than once been upgraded too. It was always to a woods view and have been on an upper level twice and seen a few fireworks.
Thanks for your thoughts! Hope your trip is super as well!

Hi Everyone, Quick question. I'll be returning back in December. This will be my third time staying at WL. I've had Courtyard and Woods views rooms but was only able to get a standard room this time around. Throwing in the factor of construction right now, what would be a good request to put in for room location? I've read people saying that they've had standard rooms with a MK view. Any recommendations on what to ask for? Thanks!

Considering switching my Pop pool view preferred to a WL standard view for July. 3 nights would cost me $250 more. Got a great deal on the Pop room through Orbitz, but the WL deal on Orbitz is really good too. Hard to pass up an opportunity to stay at a Deluxe for a good price.
