Is there a reliable source that says early morning magic is moving to Sundays and Tuesdays? I have a ppo adr on a Sunday in July and wonder if I should move it to Wednesday. We only have one day at MK and I want to make it a good one.
They actually were bookable for about 5 min. DH asked me if I wanted to do it on the 18th, even though it's not something that appeals to me it does appeal to him. Since he asks for very little on our trips I decided to indulge him. I was able to book the 18th. But results stopped immediately afterThe dates have been updated on the booking calendar (although the bookings themselves can't be made yet.)

Not true at all, there are many hotels of all ratings close to Disney, within 5 minutes of Disney property. We stay on site because of location. EMH is irrelevant. I don't know how long it takes to get from an off site hotel to the MK gates. My guess is at least an hour. That makes on-site a winner winner chicken dinner.

Exactly.
It probably costs a lot of money to open up the park an hour early with all the cast members ready to man the rides and shops.
But how many resort guests really attend them? So . .yes. Is it worth them to do that .. especially if EMH doesn't even mean that much to resort guests (meaning they are choosing to stay on resort for other reasons).
On my last trip, my MK day lined up with morning EMH. I insisted that my family and my in-laws get up early to get there.
My sister-in-law's family said 'no way' to getting up early and got there about 9:30 AM or so for our first Fast Pass (Belle).
I just couldn't fathom them not wanting to take advantage of such an empty time in the park, but they wanted to sleep in and not worry about getting their two toddler girls (2 and 4) ready before 7:00 AM .
They have eliminated a lot of value from things these days. Doesn't seem to be hurting them financially, so why wouldn't they eliminate these things?
Only if you think EMH is a benefit to staying on site. Those who don't aren't loosing any value to their on site stay.
If it's a benefit I don't use, I lose no value in losing that benefit. It only reduces the value of staying onsite for those who would have used it.That's like a non-swimmer saying that resort pools aren't a benefit to staying onsite. They are a benefit, whether or not you choose to use them. The same thing goes for EMH.
