Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

The bathroom layouts are exactly the same in the mansions and AB. Unless of course you were assigned to a Wheelchair Accessible Room? Those have a single large wet-room style bathroom area containing the toilet, sink, and either a tub or walk-in shower. There is a door leading to that area rather than the curtained off segmentation of the regular rooms. Usually those AB rooms don't have the bench seat or murphy bed either, as they need an extra armoire to restore storage space that is lost from the missing vanity area.

Must have been what it was
Though really odd it was upstairs and I did find it strange it was not a walk in or roll in shower. It had a regular tub. But I guess that is normal?
Otherwise, you have it right
No Murphy bed and I guess no bench seat. I didn't notice one way or other
Good to know, though, it will be different when we return for a king room with DGD

Did you find the Murphy bed a problem in the AB? Leaning towards the Mansions because I like to unpack and the drawer space looks limited due to the bed. How are the buses on the mansion side? I heard they are the best on the west side in AB. Decisions, decisions. Thanks in advance! I can't wait to hear more about your vacation. Have a wonderful time!
We got a room in AB without a Murphy bed

The murphy bed definitely took up a bit of room. Our 9 year old appreciated sleeping on it, and we kept it opening during our whole stay. We had brought a lot of extra hangers with us, so the majority of our clothes were hanging. We definitely missed the extra drawers, but the extra sleep space was worth it. I had only stayed in the mansions before, but I loved the AB section. If we stay at POR again, I won't ask for a section; I'll be surprised. Both areas are so incredibly lovely.

I'm staying in POR in a royal room, garden view, for one night on my birthday. Is there an area I should request? TIA

What side of Magnolia Terrace is the roofing work on now? We are going to show my daughter the measurements of the murphy bed in AB and if she says she doesn't want to sleep on it, we may request Oak Manor. We have a garden view booked, so it seems like we would probably have a strong chance of facing MT. We always take an afternoon break, so don't want to be able to hear the roofing work, or to really see it, either. Thanks for your help!

ddiva, Hi! We stayed in a Royal Room last year and loved it. The room itself is so adorable with all of the details. We were in building 90 (Oak) and it was perfect. I can't remember the room number but it was on the side by the quit pool. The bridge to get to the bus is right there and to go to the main building.

Oak Manor is a Royal Room mansion, therefore unless you have this category booked you will be in either one of the 2 mansions that are not RR or in AB.

We book RR and always request Oak Manor - we love that location!

We are in in 85 right now. There is scaffolding up on thus building on the side toward 90, and they have staged beside it but we gave not seen any work being done thus far. We checked in here Friday.

Thanks, princessemsmom and AngiTN! We hadn't even considered the mansion section because my daughter wants to sleep on the trundle bed, so I haven't done any research on them. I thought only the end mansion had RRs. I am getting a little worried about 4 adults (my kids are both over 18) and the lack of storage space in AB, especially if my daughter decides she doesn't want to sleep on the trundle once we get there. I know the trundle is small, but so is my daughter and she likes to sleep all scrunched up anyway. We are going to fold a blanket to the trundle specs and let her decide. Is Acadian House a pretty far walk from the food court? AngiTN, would you recommend MT?

I absolutely love the location of the building we are in. I'm not sure there could be a better location
Because we got the end nearest building 90 we are just about in the middle of the two bridges
One takes you to the boat dock and the other right to the pool
Go out the back of the building and you are at the east bus stop
The movie was played in the green at the next building over
It is really quiet even though outside you can hear the pool
I can say without hesitation we will be back and I will request 85. I just sort of guessed blindly when I did the TP request. I'd never seen POR before

Just so you know it's no longer a trundle bed in AB. It is a fold down Murphy Bed under the tv. If you check out www.portorleans.org I think Andre has the bed measurements there if not at the beginning of this thread then. Have fun!!

Thank you so much for the reply! I am glad you are having a great trip, so far!!

I'd love to get some hard evidence of first bus times of the day please, but it needs to be current - i.e. no earlier than this month. I was told (via a copy of an official communication from the transportation team) that as from early December the bus service start times would be changed to 7am rather than the old 6:30am. However visitors do seem to be reporting otherwise.

Is there any new info on early bus schedules at POR? We have an ADR at Crystal Palace at 8:35 next Sunday. We are NOT morning people, but I'm beyond excited about going to a PPO breakfast, and meeting Eeyore :) Anyway, since our ADR isn't one of the first ones (8:05 or 8:15) I would probably aim to be at the bus stop around 7AM, would that make sense? Would it be cutting it too close if we were there closer to 7:15? I wouldn't go as far as 7:30, though. I've seen people report that the screens are working at all POR bus stops now, I'm guessing that would help knowing if we've just missed the bus or not.

The screens are working. All but Epcot on the East sign. At least that one never worked today

Wanted to make sure you realize you will not be finished when the park opens. I assume you realize that but figured worth making sure so you aren't surprised

Riverside has multiple bus stops, correct? Is it the same deal as CBR? Where the bus circles the resort and stops at each bus stop? Is there an internal shuttle?

Yes to multiple bus stops (4). No to internal shuttle

Is there an internal shuttle?

Yes there is, the Disney Springs bus service switches into an Internal Shuttle during its circuit around French Quarter and Riverside. That said, if you're only trying to get around Riverside it'd be much quicker to walk (the central island is really helpful in cutting down distances).

Thanks, yes our plan is not to be done before rope drop, but to get a bit of an earlier start, and maybe catch an elusive not-too-crowded picture or two before our ADR!

Now that you mention it that way I suppose any bugs would be an internal shuttle since they all stop at both resorts, at least they have this week
