Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

OK, down to single digits (Wheeeeeeeee!), I've refined the text for my fax with the comments from people here. It's still a bit wordy, but people keep saying to explain why you are making the requests, and I'm having a tough time making it any shorter! Let's just be thankful Mr. Barbanellie isn't in charge of writing the fax, they'd get a five-page letter :rotfl2: So what do you guys think of this version? I'm really overthinking this whole fax-thing, and I seem to desperately seek approval from you guys!! :disrocks:

My husband and I will be checking in to the Port Orleans Riverside resort this Saturday (May 14th). We stayed at this resort in 2014, and absolutely fell in love with it, I believe mostly because of how lovely we found our Alligator Bayou room. We are coming to Riverside this time to celebrate our 15th anniversary and my husband finally completing his PhD.

We have booked a Garden View room, and we would be most grateful if you could possibly find us a room that is:

· in Alligator Bayou
· in a quiet location, similar to 3805
· facing the vegetation of the Bayou, not a busy pathway

We understand that these are requests, and we know we will have a wonderful stay at the resort no matter what, but any additional pixie dust you might be able to provide to assign us to a room like the one previously described would be lovely.

Sounds great! We will be arriving on the 14th as well!

If anyone is interested, there is a very good video of Port Orleans Riverside on YouTube. Just search iThemePark (under iThemePark 1) and/or search "Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort 2015 Tour and Overview | Walt Disney World".

There are many other good video playlists (iThemePark 2015 walkthroughs). For those of you who have not stayed at this resort, this will be a useful video for you! I have subscribed to this channel.

Got the notice for straight to the room when we charged planes. Landed at 4:24 and we are in our room. Nice pool view in AB building 39.. DH and I both like what we've seen so far. Heading to DS for dinner and to catch the new Avenger movie

Can't wait to hear more details. Have a great trip!!

Does anybody have an idea of what happens when they let you book 2 rooms after telling you the resort is already full? Long story short, Disney goofed up big time with our reservation that was made in Jan. for this upcoming week, and tried moving us to POFQ over the phone yesterday. Couldn't let it happen. So, with the proof of our deposit on a bank statement from Jan. they said they'll make it happen for us, and rebooked us in POR. Great! But how...?

Seems odd POR would be sold out for next week? But not POFQ. I know it's F&G but is something else going on?

If they're truly sold out, then somebody checking in that day will most likely be asked to switch to POFQ or get an upgrade to a deluxe.

We love our King room. As I posted we asked for building 85 using TP and I asked for a corner room with priority for early Checkin when I did online check-in
Well at 12:30 I got a text that our room was ready and we got a river view from on the corner in 85. Great location
Not sure which room decor I like better. I loved the rustic feeling in the AB room but don't care for the all in one bathroom as much. I love the separate tub area in the mansion but am not as big a fan of the decor here. The chairs are quite uncomfortable

Did you find the Murphy bed a problem in the AB? Leaning towards the Mansions because I like to unpack and the drawer space looks limited due to the bed. How are the buses on the mansion side? I heard they are the best on the west side in AB. Decisions, decisions. Thanks in advance! I can't wait to hear more about your vacation. Have a wonderful time!

I have a Royal Room with a Garden View. For mobility reasons I am planning on asking for a corner room on the ground floor as close to the main building as possible. Do you think that is too much to ask for?

Not at all! They will do their best to get it for you. I would suggest putting your requests in order of importance. What if they can get you only one or two? They need to know which is most important.

I just booked here rather than All Stars, but I'm worried about the walk to transportation. Preferred rooms were all gone. Can you tell me what else to request. I have issues with foot fractures so walking can be a real issue so the fewer steps I can take the better. I booked a Garden View. That's all that's left. I've never stayed here before so could really use some help. Thanks.

Tell them exactly what you need and why. Unless they are totally sold out, they will do their best. I needed the first floor, because I was in AB and couldn't do stairs. They didn't have it when I checked in. Someone helped me get my luggage up there and then moved me the next day. Not ideal, but it shows their willingness to get you what you need.

I didn't, but I travel alone. There are two drawers, then a shelf and also the bench. There are also some shelved near the coffee pot and fridge. Since I am by myself, that's plenty of room for my stuff.

Here at POR now in AB...last two trips I stayed in Magnolia Terrace. I used to be a die hard AB fan for the rustic layout and now realize I like the room layout (no Murphy bed) in the mansion section better. Only here for two nights (split stay with the Poly).

What is it like traveling by yourself? I've thought about it but have never took the plunge.

The bathroom layouts are exactly the same in the mansions and AB. Unless of course you were assigned to a Wheelchair Accessible Room? Those have a single large wet-room style bathroom area containing the toilet, sink, and either a tub or walk-in shower. There is a door leading to that area rather than the curtained off segmentation of the regular rooms. Usually those AB rooms don't have the bench seat or murphy bed either, as they need an extra armoire to restore storage space that is lost from the missing vanity area.
