Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Does anybody have an idea of what happens when they let you book 2 rooms after telling you the resort is already full? Long story short, Disney goofed up big time with our reservation that was made in Jan. for this upcoming week, and tried moving us to POFQ over the phone yesterday. Couldn't let it happen. So, with the proof of our deposit on a bank statement from Jan. they said they'll make it happen for us, and rebooked us in POR. Great! But how...?
I wouldnt expect too get any room requests honored. I would have insisted on an upgrade to a deluxe if they messed up my reservation like that.

If the resort is full, someone will have to be moved. There will be someone who is more open to moving and they'll probably be offered an incentive for doing so.

Yes there is, the Disney Springs bus service switches into an Internal Shuttle during its circuit around French Quarter and Riverside. That said, if you're only trying to get around Riverside it'd be much quicker to walk (the central island is really helpful in cutting down distances).

Thank you, Andre. I am more concerned about my Dad's ability to get around the resort. He has a bad back and can handle short distances but I'm trying not to put him too far out from things like food court and busses. The preferred rooms aren't available for our dates but I had looked into Royal rooms near the pool and they don't *look* particularly far from the main building. I'm hoping maybe we can try those.

I am going assume it is worth $337 to upgrade from Pop Century to Riverside?

Anniversary trip for just my Wife and I - 5 days 4 night - every aspect of package would stay the same. All I would do is upgrade to Riverside from Pop Century and the cost would only be $337 right now.

Prior to April, I would have said no, not worth it. Pop is our favorite. However, after 2 magnificent nights at POR last month, we would definitely upgrade if it was a no-park vacation (as ours was). So much to do, so relaxing, etc. AT the resort.

We were Family of the Day at the Contemporary back in 2013. It was our first time staying at BLT and we had just arrived and walked over to the Contemporary for lunch. I asked a cast member if she could help us with the kiosk ordering system as it was our first time using the dining plan and I wasn't sure what was covered. She came over to help us and asked another cast member to join her. They ordered our food and carried our trays. (To be honest, it felt really weird because we couldn't figure out why they thought we couldn't get and carry our own food. :) Anyways, after we paid we were escorted to a table covered with a table cloth, centerpiece and real silverware. There was a sign on the table that read "Family of the Day". The cast member took numerous pictures with our camera. It was cool but that was all there was to it. We had many, many people asking us how we got picked. No idea how we were chosen but it was a great memory for us since it was my 2 year old's first trip to WDW!

That happened to us, TWICE, at Pizzafari, too. Very cool!

Thanks, princessemsmom and AngiTN! We hadn't even considered the mansion section because my daughter wants to sleep on the trundle bed, so I haven't done any research on them. I thought only the end mansion had RRs. I am getting a little worried about 4 adults (my kids are both over 18) and the lack of storage space in AB, especially if my daughter decides she doesn't want to sleep on the trundle once we get there. I know the trundle is small, but so is my daughter and she likes to sleep all scrunched up anyway. We are going to fold a blanket to the trundle specs and let her decide. Is Acadian House a pretty far walk from the food court? AngiTN, would you recommend MT?

Just a heads up, my kids - one about 5'3, one just shy of 5'0, were too big for it. They both hated it. And, there is a weight limit, I believe, of about 125? Unless your daughter is super tiny, it might not work well.

but I had looked into Royal rooms near the pool and they don't *look* particularly far from the main building.

Yes, the Royal Room POll View rooms are all quite conveniently located for access to the main building via a footbridge over the river. Regular River View rooms also are mostly very nicely located, and you could put a request in for a river view in building 14 which (if granted) would give you about the shortest walks on property, both for the food court and the main bus stop.

We check in in 25 days!!! So excited. Has anyone heard anything about summer park hours. They still have the standard hours listed on the Disney website. Having been there the past 2 summers, I know that they always stay open later (especially Magic Kingdom). Right now they still have MK closing at 10:00!

How does grocery delivery work at POR? We have had deliveries at AKL and CBR only. Do they hold it for you if you are delayed on arrival? The items are coming from Orlando Grocery Express. Thanks!

Yes, deliveries will be held for you. Obviously fresh items would become a problem if you arrived several days later, but otherwise there should be no problems.

I had to switch rooms, so I actually had them deliver it the next day and it was fine. They hold it until you call and ask them to bring it.

We had to change to the date of our trip that was in September. We will now be staying in our Royal Room 10/29-11/6. I just bought the MNSSHP tickets for the 10/30. For those who have spent Halloween evening at the resort, I would love to hear all about it :) We have 2 princess's, ages 15 & 8!

A group of our family stayed in four rooms last October in Alligator bayou bldgs 17 and 18. It was so nice to have the quiet pool right there so we could meet up and wind down after a hot morning in the parks. At that time a cart with drinks ( soda, water, Beer - Schofferhofer!!) and snacks would make its rounds every hour or two. My husband remembers the girl in the truck said it was just a trial thing. Does anyone know if it is still running? It was great!:teeth:

It was running in mid April when we were down there

Hello all! Can anyone tell me, based on what they've heard, the success rate of requesting a room in AB vs MB? Just booking a standard or garden view, not preferred, not pool view, not royal, no 5th person. Basically, all other things being equal, how likely is it that, if I request the mansions, I'll get the mansions? Thanks!

ETA: I guess I'm looking for anecdotes from those who haven't gotten their preferred section, and what reason, if any, was given.
