Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Hi All. I have a couple of questions I am sure Andre and others will be able to answer. I recently booked a bounce back at Riverside in May. It's a woods view room. The CM who was great told me it would be in the magnolia bend section but how could she really know that? I like both mansion and bayou sections so that's not a problem but since I definitely would want an upper floor and have requested that the bayou would be out. I might add right now due to a health issue steps are not my friend so having an elevator would be preferred. I will manage in the bayou though. Just wondering how accurate her information is. 🤔 Oh and my DSIL is over at FQ but there's no BB rooms available so that's not an option although I will keep checking. I love Riverside so no big deal. Also I know Riverside is a pet friendly resort and just wondering what buildings they use for them. I am not allergic and it's not an issue just curious. I have requested non connecting upper floor room in building 85 or 80. So we shall see. Any info on my questions would be appreciated. Looking forward to my stay there it's been a while since my last stay. Since the skyliner my stays have been at Pop Century so this will be a nice change. Also any other helpful tips will be appreciated by you Riverside experts. Thanks
I always book a woods view and request building 80 or 85. We always got our requests ( more than 10 trips) I never seen any dog while staying in 85, but I saw and heard a few while staying in building 80, near alligator bayou. We stayed 2 weeks in room 8033, we all coughed and had runny nose for the entire trip, but only when in the room. None of us are allergic. One night the ac broke and they came to fix it, when they opened the unit there was so much dog hair, we had been breathing that air for over 10 days.

Yes #Christine 514 I did put in the request for building 85 then 80 .Like you I am not allergic but rather not have a barking dog near by. Andre did say they try not to put dogs in building 80. So we shall see. I have my requests listed and hopefully will get them. Regardless I will be at Disney and have a good time. Thanks for your response.

Thanks Andre for clarifying better for me. I did call Disney today and put in building 85 as my request preference but yes I know it's just that. A request. All is good though looking forward to my Riverside stay wherever I end up.

Does Riverside or French Quarter do any mardi gras activities?
Yes, there is usually a Mardi Gras parade from POR to POFQ. Cast members decorate golf carts which are used during the procession.

So are you all saying they put you in rooms where dogs have stayed? I believe we have a woods room.

I've posted this in the French Quarter thread too, but anyone who keeps an eye on the UK booking site, which already has all of 2026's package availability, will be aware that from 1st January 2026 there will only be FIVE bookable categories at Port Orleans Riverside: Standard, 5th-Sleeeper, King Bed, Preferred Location, and Royal Room. See https://www.portorleans.org/roomrates.php for more info on what I've been able to work out by searching the UK Disney website.

Don't pay too much heed to the small-print wording about the view types by the way, the UK site is prone to go its own way sometimes. There will still be some rooms facing the parking lots for example, and Preferred can sleep 1-5 people. Not sure whether they may take this opportunity to tweak which rooms fall into which Categories - for example, it would make sense for Preferred Location to include some building 85 river-area rooms, as they are just as close to the main building as some of the further rooms in buildings 15 or 27. We shall see in time anyway.

We like to book a river view room. I would hate to lose that category. :(

All of the 'View' categories are going away at all Moderates I believe - although I've only checked Port Orleans on the UK website for myself. I guess the logic being that with external corridors and no balconies, most guests are probably more interested in proximity to the main features than they are in what's outside their closed window.

I hope they make the Requests process a bit easier and more reliable though, as I'm with you that River Views are perfect at Riverside.

Do the horse drawn carriage drivers accept tips? Seeing conflicting things online but some of the discussion was from years ago.

There are many online videos of the past parades and festivities. The entire day has become quite a celebration. We have been 3 or 4 times in the past and are going to stay at PO-FQ the first week of March mainly to experience the vibe and the usually decent weather. Mousesteps does a great job of filming the parade each year. One note: a lot of people from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama go to WDW during this week because it is their spring breaks due to school closures for Mardi Gras festivities in their area.

UGH! I rarely ever get standard view:( I always open the curtains during the day to let the light in and to enjoy our view. I could care less about the few people that walk by, no big deal to our family. I like the option to pick the room type.

Trying to decide which room category to book for our spring break resort. Exactly where are renovations currently happening, and will any of the buildings be done by March?

The renovations are scheduled to start in April, so if you're going next month there's going to be nothing going on. If you mean next year, they are all supposed to be done by then. And this is Magnolia Bend.
