Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

She might not think that after she's run a marathon and has to walk clear to the other side of the resort! lol "Not that far" seemed a lot farther to me after my half.

Trust me, I realized that, it's a very expansive resort. "a-mah-gawd Becky, look at that resort. It is so huge!" But this was her first choice. It was even her first choice while I was fighting with renting DVC points.

If you want Magnolia section guaranteed, book royal room. They are only in first two buildings in Magnolia.

Magnolia area does not contain Royal Rooms. Parterre does though. When we wanted to try the mansions we chose the Magnolia Bend area specifically as we didn't want the Royal Rooms. Check out Andre's website at www.portorleans.org & it shows You all the room type locations.

To clarify.....Magnolia Bend (the mansions area) consists of 4 buildings in total two of which house the royal rooms and two which do not. This includes Parterre and Oak (buildings 95 and 90) which have all royal rooms plus Magnolia Terrace and Acadian (buildings 85 and 80) which do not.

We just checked in today- loving the resort so far! We just saw a man propose to his girlfriend after getting off a horse drawn carriage ride. It was so cute.

And a quick question. I'm a bit confused with buses. We're in Parterre, should we just walk to the south depot stop or is the east depot stop faster?

When we stayed in Parterre we found it was quicker to go to South depot. If you have a pool view room or are in the wing facing Oak Manor, East depot might be a tad closer.

Thank you! We're in a garden view room so I think we'll go for South Depot then.

If anything, the walk along the river and across the bridge to get to South is much more pleasant than walking across a parking lot to get to East. :teeth:

Try each! One day use south, next day East. We dislike the main (South) depot and mostly used East Depot. Much less chaotic. East was not crowded, could just sit on bench and relax waiting for bus.
I found people queue up in the south depot even if it's not their bus. They don't get out of the line to let others get on the bus. So- your bus arrives and you get in the queue, but you can't tell if the people in front of you are getting on that bus or waiting for a different bus.

Doing some Solo days at the end of an offsite family trip. Heading back to POR as I want to try out the Alligator Bayou rooms and no one else wants to stay in them but me. hahahaha

That may change depending on winter room only specials, but I'm excited to see how I like them.

What do you think the chances are they will put me in AB as a single? It would be just my luck that I WANT AB and they put me in the Mansions.

I guess we'll just have to figure out a way to take them home! Or make some of our own!

I've actually done this. They were pretty good over the next couple of days. We don't have them where I'm from so it was a nice treat for the family.

Either make the request, or book preferred, so you're guaranteed a Bayou room.

Chances are, with a short trip, provided a bunch of 5-person families don't want to show up the same time you do, you should be fine going anywhere you want.

I used to just let the chips fall where room selection was concerned. I stayed in a Royal Room for my second half, which wasn't "that far." That year, I came home with ITBS, bursitis, and plantar fasciitis in both feet, so my room seemed pretty far from the food court! I have booked preferred ever since!

I want a mansion, but I don't want to pay for a Royal, and with no kids this upcoming trip, I think a lot of the "fun" in a Royal Room would get lost on us. I think my kids are at an age where getting a Royal at this point would be lost on them, too. I will just make a fairly simple room request and then cross my fingers.

I've had plantar fasciitis before, but on the opposite side of the muscle; most people get it in front of the heel of the foot, I got it on the back of the ball of the foot (same muscle, so same diagnosis). It's not fun.

I saw on the video tour posted a couple pages back that the water wheel for the mill isn't turning. When did it stop? Anyone know why?

How many room requests are reasonable vs too many?

We will be traveling with a large (for us) party for 7 nights over Pop Warner week, and will have either 2 or 3 rooms that we'd like to be close to each other- not necessarily connecting or right next to each other. I've only stayed in the Alligator Bayou section before and would prefer the mansion section this time. The rooms we have booked are just standard garden view rooms, so this shouldn't conflict with any of my requests. Is it too much to request our party's rooms close together, in building 80 or 85, and as close as possible to the bus stop (north or east depot, depending on which building we get)? I know the more specific the request, the less likely they are to be able to fill, but this will be my first time making room requests outside the normal WDW online check-in process.

That should be fine! Just make sure to put both reservation numbers on the request, and word it just like you put it here.

A couple of questions ...

Which would be closer to the food court and main pool - a preferred room or royal room? Is there a significant difference?

My dd is just under 5 ft and very slight build. Do you think she would be comfortable in the fold down beds in AB?

I would like to be able to warm milk every evening. Any ideas on how I can do this?

Thank you - love this thread!

We were in building 14, which is a preferred category, and we were right next to the food court. I would think that they would be a lot closer to the food court than the Royal rooms.

She would love the beds in AB. My grandson is about 5 ft tall and he loved the bed. :)

There is a microwave in the food court that you could use.

Are pool noodles allowed in the quiet pools? I think the main pool would be too busy, so we wouldn't bring one there. Thanks!
