We have a garden view room booked for early March. We're just 2 adults. We wanted to book preferred, but only garden view was available with the military discount. Especially considering the potential for a bridge closing, we'd like to be in alligator bayou. We'd of course prefer not to be in the back 40. Building 16 looks to be ideal.

My question is how I should word my request. Should I just say alligator bayou, closer to food court? What's the likelyhood we'd get our request? Snowball's chance?

Yup, that's a good way to word it.

Hard to say. It all depends on occupancy and how many others requested the same as you.

That wording is fine. Your chances are better than average as there are more AB rooms than mansion building ones anyway, and some rooms in Magnolia Terrace may be closed as they are doing roofing work over there.

Question about booking a room only stay when they are available at the 499 day mark..I think I read that right....

We are not traveling until the week after Thanksgiving 2017 but we could book the room only in August this year....and I'm considering as we would need to book 3 possibly 4 rooms and I have a few specific requests such as 2 rooms need to be bottom floor and we def want preferred AB rooms. Views and connecting rooms would be nice but aren't as critical.

Last trip we kinda flew by the seat of our pants and though we got great preferred rooms at Pop we were scattered from our party and all on the 3rd floor (my in laws have bad knees coupled with elevator phobia....)

So should I book our rooms that early out and if I do should I make my requests then?

Back from a great Christmas stay at POR. We requested near food court, ground floor. They put us in building 16 ground floor. Very happy with the location. We had a parking lot view which is what I like actually since we drove & it was easy to unload & load the car. Also nice as we used it to store some extras rather than keep everything in the room. As a family of 5, the room is a bit cramped with us & all our bags but we were just fine. The pullout bed was great since my 3 kids will not sleep in the same bed. Our DD is 5'3" & she was very comfy on the murphy bed. My DS slept on an air mattress by the door (lots of space between the bed & the door for this), & my youngest DD got a bed to herself. DH & I were on the other bed which was comfy enough when you are Disney tired but the pillows were pretty hard. Foodcourt was great. Lots of options and 2 large drink stations so there wasn't much of a wait to fill up our mugs.

NYE we spent enjoying Bob Jackson's show. We have been before but it was extra special since we rang in the new year with him. So much fun. Of course River Roast was crowded and we stood for the entire 1st show, then got a seat for the 2nd. We had some nachos, cheese balls, & buffalo wings there which were all good. The pimento cheese balls were so good.

Housekeeping was awful. I usually clean the room when I get there so it wasn't a big deal. The room was very dusty. They went days without giving us toiletries (I brought my own so again no big deal for us). 2 days in a row I asked for extra bath towels, both times they left us 5 bath mats. :/ The last day they did give us shampoo & soap when we asked, it was thrown on the bed. Not sure what there problem was but it didn't damper our stay.

Buses were great. Never more than a 10 minute wait the entire week we were there. Even at the parks, we seemed to luck out as a bus was always either there or just a short wait away. Folks were very polite on the bus. My kids gave up their seats for moms & tired babies and so did a lot of people we rode the bus with. Very pleasant.

Even with the madness of the holiday crowds we had an excellent stay at POR. Just loved it!

If you know exactly what you want, book it as early as you like so you don't find the category you want has sold out. You can always change it later if you find a better offer (even get a refund from Disney if you book elsewhere, up to 45 days out for packages and 6 days out room-only). Once you're booked, you can make sure the reservations are linked and requests added, again there's nothing to lose by doing it now (although there's no specific advantage either).

Andre thank you so much for your reply! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't looking crazy by not only booking but making requests so early, but since I will be the one managing all of the reservations you're right best to get it all linked now and then once packages come out I can add that on.

Is it preferred to have top floor or bottom? Bottom, shorter walks, no stairs, but we usually do top floors if its available to not hear footsteps above us.

It depends on what's more important to you - no one above you or no stairs.

It is interesting how awful your housekeeping was. It sounds to me like it is dependent upon the specific "housekeeper". I read on here about some housekeeping issues (exactly like those listed here), so I was a little worried going into our Dec. trip. However, we experienced top notch housekeeping...always had plenty + lots of extra toiletries, plenty of towels, very clean room, extra trash cans, super cute and creative towel animals almost every single day, etc.) If I am recalling correctly, the ppl who have had housekeeping issues have stayed in AB. We stayed in the Mansions (Royal Room). I am guessing they have different housekeepers for different areas. Perhaps the ppl who are having the issues, should let someone at the front desk know, since I am guessing that's the only way they'd learn about it (unless they are reading here ;-). Sorry you didn't have a great house keeping experience, but glad you didn't let it ruin your trip !

I take it you used the South Bus Depot since you were in Bldg 16? If so, how accurate did you find the bus monitors?

I have a food question concerning mickey waffles. lol. Are the childs waffles and adult waffles same size and how many of each? Kids insist they must have mickey waffles after I said we weren't eating out every morning.

I'm thinking that the waffles are the same at all Disney resorts. My 18 year old got the kids waffle at the Poly (Captain Cooks). It was a regular sized waffle (but there is only 1). I got the adult platter and she snacked off of my food too. So if your kids are young or not big eaters they should be fine with the kids waffle. Another option would be to get the adult Mickey waffles and let them split it, might be more cost effective

We had asked for building 85, but it appears that may no longer be a good choice for Feb 8-Feb13 due to construction. Am I correct in assuming that Alligator Bayou closest to food court would be my best bet for not having to walk too far? We are garden view. Thank you!

I found this menu on all ears.net and it says that POR's waffles is waffles plural, no mention of how many, both on the adult and kids platters.

There are two sizes of Mickey waffles, smaller ones for the kids meals and bigger ones for the adult meals. This pic is a few years old, but you get the idea:

If POR is like POFQ the adult meal has 1 large waffle. The smaller waffle can be one of the side in the adult breakfast platter. I imagine it is the it is the same as the child's waffle.
