Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

We store suitcases and even our Owner's Locker box (which overlaps a bit but is quite safe) on the shelf, so you won't have any problems. I guess it's about 12 inches wide, or perhaps a little more?

Thanks Andre, you are a star.

And thank you for the PortOrleans.org website which helped us immensely before we visited and continues to help. We are back for UK free dining in April 2016. Cannot wait!

I wonder if the price increase for POR rack rates in 2016 will affect its popularity. Seems like it's considerably more expensive than the other moderates most of the time. Hard to imagine demand dropping despite the price increase - it's just that wonderful there! But still...I'm curious to see what happens next fall with this.

I am also most interested to see if Disney has overpriced POR for the fall months next year. The standard and garden view didn't increase that much but the other room categories have significantly increased. River view is up around $50 per night for most October 2016 dates.

With no AAA discounts for 2016 and October and November 2016 are currently blacked out for room only bounce back discounts, doesn't seem like there will any discounts offered for fall.

I've been checking some of the spring/early summer discounts at POR and the river view rooms appear to have the most significant discounts. For May, the river view rooms are discounted from roughly $275/night to $206/night. There are also good discounts for pool view and preferred rooms. I guess folks are not reserving the views which had the most significant increases for 2016.

Disney have always tended to offer more discount availability on rooms with higher base prices (e.g. the Royal Rooms are often included when Standard Views are not).

We're booked in a Royal Room (saving $1K off cost of a standard room at Polynesian over college Spring Break in March) and I just read that the bus pickup schedule has changed to where the closest bus stops to these rooms are picked up last. Is it feasible and advisible to walk to the bus stop in AB that appears to be picked up first?

Feasible, yes. Advisable, no. In our experiences on the very rare instance we weren't able to get on a bus, there was another one right behind it.

Are guests allowed to pool hop between POFQ and POR? If so are there other amenities that they share? Thanks!

I took the boat between resorts and we were free to use the ford court at POFQ and even though we didn't use the pool, others from POR were. When we were there (2yrs ago), seemed acceptable to use amenities in both resorts.

Why? If you want to walk to a different bus stop, walking to the South Depot would be the easiest one from the Royal buildings (and as the last pickup, would be the shortest journey - although you might be more likely to have to stand).

We had a Royal Room in Parterre Place in 2012 and always used the South depot at the main building. It was a quick and easy walk along the river and over the bridge.

thank you, Have never stayed there but changing from Polynesian to a Royal Room for four nights is saving me $1k (and that is with the passholder discounts!) It's been about ten years since we've even walked around POR so this is all new to me
I prefer the east depot. It's just Behind the parking lot, see map. It's less crowded and chaotic than the main south depot.
With the satellite depots, everyone just sits on the benches and gets up when their bus comes. Easy.
At the main depot everyone just queues up regardless of if its their bus or not. So you're standing there wondering if the people in front of you are actually getting on the bus or not. I find it very frustrating.

We are booked in a standard view. What would be the best request that is a good compromise on a shorter walk to the lobby and the bus stop? 2 years ago we were in AB 16 which seemed pretty good. Looking at the map, it looks like some of the mansion rooms would be an equidistant walk to the lobby but maybe slightly shorter walks to the north or east depot.

Just ask to be close to the lobby and a bus stop - don't try to overthink it.

We love Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace and request to be as close as possible to the foot bridge. Acadian is close to North depot and Magnolia is close to east, depending on room location. Could be closer to the north depot.

this is the kind of info I was looking for. Thank you!

thank you, I was confused as to which bus stop was closest and also how crowded. Our last PO stay was probably 10 years ago at FQ and we shared with Riverside at the time and it was a nightmare. For that reason my hubby banned moderates. He's not going this trip hence the change to see if we could be happy there

Parterre Pl is now all Royal Rooms, the furthest mansion. We stayed there before they were transformed into Royal Rooms and we were almost in POFQ!

Oak & Parterre are Royal Rooms, Acadian House & Magnolia Terrace are regular mansion rooms. Lots has changed in 10 yrs!!

When we stay in Acadian we use North depot, Magnolia or Oak Manor we tend to use East Depot. Parterre would be closest to the main South depot, but we used East anyway to avoid the crowds of the main depot. But coming back from park would get off at south ( when we were in Parterre).

Our last POFQ stay a few yrs ago, we rarely shared with POR during peak times. Only shared mid day, like if we were returning to the resort mid day for a break.

Does anyone know what the current bounce back offers are for POR? We are coming this spring hoping for late summer/fall bouncebacks.

I booked a RR garden view using the Spring discount offer, April 20-26th. I was wanting to make a request for a Oak Manor(preferably ground floor) near east bus stop is this possible? Thanks!
