Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I check first page, nothing in red. Is the boat to downtown marketplace working?

The water taxi still travels from POFQ to DTD, but because of construction in DTD, it stops somewhere in the centre of DTD and not in the marketplace area at the moment.

I believe it is still temporarily docking at Pleasure Island. It looks worse on the map than it really is. In a way, it is more convenient if you want to get to the West Side as it drops you off and picks you up in between WS and the Marketplace.

If you're traveling to DTD around dinner time, maybe about 6, is the boat usually a pretty long wait? I've stayed at POR but not POFQ - it picks up at FQ second, right? Does that mean it's usually full with other people by the time it reaches the FQ stop?

They only allow half the boat to fill up at POR so there is always room for POFQ people.

any idea when market place dock will be open? going in sept with a new 4 year old.....don't want to bring a stroller:) She will be fine if we just walk around market but if we walk from PI to market and then have to walk around someone might be cranky.

Quick trip recap:

Stayed 5/3 to 5/10 with DW, DD8 and DD7
Room 4242 - great location, second floor, corner room, close to transportation, dining and movies. Never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus to the parks and only shared with POR on the day we went to DHS. Mousekeeping was not as great as our trip last year, nothing really special with my kid's stuffed animals. Dining was good, though I'm don't think the beignets there are that great. Boat to DTD was great to and from. Stopped in the middle of PI next to the balloon. Parks weren't too crowded and weather was perfect, sunny and 80s all week. We were a little to early for 7DMT but gives us another reason to go back. Sit downs at BOG, Yak & Yeti and 50s Prime Time, all very good. Best day was at AK collecting all 17 Wilderness Explorer badges and becoming Senior WEs then hopping to Epcot and being the last group to ride Soarin' for the day. Great trip and still love POFQ.

I've finally got round to completing the updates to my Port Orleans building floorplan layouts that I was talking about a while back. So not only can you check the various room types & categories, plus the locations of all the Accessible rooms, but now all of the Connecting Rooms are listed too.

While special room requests can never be guaranteed of course, it is now much easier for you to check to see if a particular room request might be realistic or not.

See the Room Locations and Requests page and click on any of the buildings in the resort maps to see expanded floorplan views. You can also download combined PDF documents for each section of the resort from the Maps and Directions page.

I hope you enjoy the updated maps, and have fun planning!

This is so awesome Andre! THanks so much for taking the time to do this! :thumbsup2

What's better than staying at POFQ? Staying at POFQ with Free Dining included!

Yep!! So glad we booked the bounce back last year---can't wait!

Couldn't agree more... I am in the FQ FD BB group, and SOOOO glad I did. I am hoping for another one this year. :rolleyes1 popcorn::

We were staying at CBR but when the free dine came out I switched us to POFQ because we're only staying 3 days after our cruise on the Dream, and thanks to the military discount we're getting a River View!!! I know Touringplans has the outside views, but is there a site that shows the inside of the rooms? Was hoping to get a corner for the double windows.

What's wrong with the photos at the start of this thread? (all the rooms at the resort have the same basic internal layout and theming)

Where can I go to send a fax for free ? I did check the link on the first page of this thread and it says it is $10.00 a month ?? And it had a place to add my fax number. What would I put for my fax #?

The link in the first page does allow you to send faxes for free, max 3 pages twice a day on the free service. If you don't have a return fax number, don't enter one.

Have the rooms been updated to have the down comforter and they've gotten rid of those bedspreads? I sure hope so. We arrive tomorrow evening!!

The bedspreads are gone, but there isn't a down comforter. It's triple sheeted.

No blankets in the closet, but a quick call to housekeeping and they will bring them to your room. I like weight to my covers, so that's what I did.
