Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Just back from POFQ- May 3-10th and we loved it!! In fact we booked a bounce back for the fall. Disappointed though to have waited on hold for hours to book and then be told only River View avail for our dates-If I keep calling is there any hope a standard will open up with a bounce back offer?? I'm not sure how those work. I literally called 17 times while on vacation….seems bit much to expect people to use precious vacation time but I finally resorted to just leaving the phone on speaker while getting ready in the room after my first few unsuccessful attempts. I just prefer the standard rooms but I don't want to pay for the most expensive view category and request standard so not sure how that is handled. They weren't helpful on the phone.

No blankets in the closet, but a quick call to housekeeping and they will bring them to your room. I like weight to my covers, so that's what I did.

Oh, glad this came up. I would have expected a blanket to be in the room. I normally travel with my small down blanket but can't on a plane for this trip. DH keeps the air conditioner so cold that it gives me an ear ache. I know I'm going to need a blanket to keep warm in the summer! In fact, I'm trying to decide if I need to bring my winter jammies!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the bedding was sheet-blanket-sheet, so there actually is a blanket on the bed (between 2 sheets).

We are checking in the 29th! Can't wait!

Keep us updated on the bedding!

Don't give up! We were told there were no rooms avail other than river view when we tried to add a day on to our reservations. Called back a few weeks later and able to add not one but two dates on to our garden view.
We also had bounce back offer.

Good luck!!

Yes, you are correct. At least it was that way when I was there in March.

This is what was there in Nov. '13. It's a light blanket but I found it was the perfect amount of warmth.

Does anyone know the cost of a soda at the food court? Not the mug, but just a soda in a paper cup, and do they still sell soda in a paper cup. Thanks!

I don't know the price but you can still buy a soda in a paper cup and you can refill it 3 times.

Sounds like a good option to me. I just do not think I can drink $18.99 worth of soda at the food court to justify the mug.

We had the mugs for first time with dining plan. I really enjoyed the iced tea every day. I don't drink soda, but the tea was refreshing!

Even if you don't drink soda the mug is a good deal if you're staying more than 5 days. Last February I had my fill of hot chocolate, iced tea, lemonade and I think cranberry juice? Some kind of juice for sure.

We find the same. Actually, DD and I both drink a lot from our mugs and I have worked out that we have paid for them by the 3rd day even for length of stay. We use our mugs with every meal at the resort, grab 2 coffees/powerades each in the morning before heading out and we top them up regularly when at the resort or pool. I always make sure we drink something before we go out anywhere too as going out if you are already thirsty reduces the value of the mug and increases your cost by having to buy something as soon as you arrive at the park, or wherever you are going.

On a different topic, when do you think the activity schedule for June will be out. It's not that I'm in a hurry or anything ... just casually wondering ;) :rotfl::rotfl:

If booking a standard room, do people still request buildings like 2 or 5 that do not have standard rooms? Would they grant a request like that or should I just stick to requesting only the front buildings that have the standard rooms?

I have always requested building 5 and always booked a standard room. We always had our request granted. I felt really bad when I found out after our last trip that 5 is actually a preferred location (garden/pool/river view). I think some of the ground floor rooms facing the pool in building 5 are standard category, but I could be wrong about that. Anyway, I amended my request to Building 4 because we are going in the summer as opposed to our previous stays which have been during quieter times.

Yes, the resort gets lots of requests that are technically impossible to fulfil within the booking category (the other regular one is people booking Pool View and then requesting a ground floor room, when there aren't any pool view rooms on the ground floor as there is a fence/hedge which would partially obscure the view).

They will do what they can to help, but obviously it works better if you make your requests having done a bit of homework first (even mentioning that you know there aren't many standard view rooms in those buildings).
