Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Can anyone who has stayed at Pop recently confirm if the food court has cases of water available for purchase? In the past, when there weren’t any in the cooler, I would ask a cast member and they would bring one out from the back.

Thanks for all of the work that you do maintaining this thread. This will be our first trip staying at Pop for more than a night, so our first doing room requests. I guess 50s is pretty popular now with the Skyliner?

we want to get our two top room requests and access to the Skyliner and theming are way down on the list. So we won't even request a section if it will help our chances on first floor and pool view.

The Skyliner access is in the 60’s section which yes, makes 50’s, 60’s and 70’s quite popular.

It’s recommended you list only one or two requests if possible because it seems room assigners may only look at one thing and book based on that.

If a pool view room is important, I would recommend booking either a Standard Pool View or, Preferred Pool View room as those are the rooms that include a pool view. There are very few rooms without the ‘pool view’ in the name that actually have a view of the pool.

Pop Century runs at capacity all year round and adding in the room refurbishments, it’s anticipated the upcoming soft goods refurbishments may take blocks of rooms out of circulation for a period of time too which will alter availability.

None of the Disney Resorts sell them any longer.

For anyone that's stayed at both, do you feel the smaller room size at Pop compared to POFQ? I am debating where to stay next year. We are a family of 3.

Thanks.

we would have booked Preferred if it was available but we're on a BB and it just wasn't.

It is for sure smaller, especially when you pull down the second bed. However, as 2 adults, I did not find it so much so that it made a huge difference in our trip.

My family of 4 has stayed at POR a few times in the past. After Pop renovated with queen beds, we started staying at Pop (although my youngest son hasn’t come with us the last couple times). It’s definitely smaller but there’s a lot of storage in the room. Just be careful that you don’t bump your legs on the corner of the beds. It is wonderful being able to access 2 parks with the skyliner.

I don't think this is POP specific question, but the only 2 times I had a dining plan was at POP pre-COVID, and I'm going back to POP on the free dining promo this summer. I remember previously when getting a meal the CM let you get a snack instead of a drink since you could use your refillable mug for a drink. Are they still allowing this? I know they no longer allow using a QS credit for 3 snacks, so wasn't sure if this was restricted too.

I'm not sure. A good place to ask that is in the Disney Dining Plan section of DISboards.

The next refurb is Mar 2025 - Feb 2026. It is soft goods so is anticipated to be things like towels, bedding, mattresses, painting, general room maintenance, etc. I’m guessing they may close down blocks of rooms at a time to complete the maintenance, similar to how they did the major room refurbishments in 2017 and 2018. Maintenance will take place during daytime hours to cause as little inconvenience as possible.

We visited twice during the major refurbishment and did not find it affected our trip at all. Not anticipating this one will either other than there will be less room availability which will make Pop more challenging to book.

We will keep this thread updated during the refurbishments and if needed, will create a separate thread purely to track and discuss the refurbishments.

We'll be there in April-May, I was hoping they were offering compensation for dealing with the renos 😅 but I guess we're out of luck this time!

Our last visit in 2017 to Carribbean Beach they were going through dining renovations and they compensated all guests with a $75usd giftcard for EACH day of our stay, as Canadians dealing with cad/USD it was like winning the lottery!

Apologies if this has been asked before, just having trouble finding a solid answer.
My Folks are going to be in Orlando at the same time we're at Disney and they offered to swing by Pop Century for one day to watch our toddler so my wife and I can get some alone time at a park. Would they be allowed to take her to the pool? Or do we need to request/pay for day passes? (If that's a thing?) Any info would be appreciated 🙂

Anyone know when and why they stopped playing music around the pools? We always stay in the 80's section and loved the music. It was playing during our November 2023 stay but for our Sept/Oct 2024 stay it was gone.

Really is no need for compensation as the construction takes place during the day. We were there during the recent food court refurbishment so could only mobile order. Missed the food court but still chose to stay there so that’s on me.

They will be allowed to take her to the pool without problem. They will need your name and likely room number to get through security when they arrive.

Will the renovations at POP affect the amenities (i.e. Pool and / or Food Court) or is it just room renovations?

Only rooms. The food court was just renovated last fall. Likely they will not affect guests at all. It’s anticipated, similar to the big renovations of 2017, that they may block off sections of rooms to work on. Work will normally take place between 9-5.
