Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

I have read that Disney+ is being rolled out in Disney Resorts. Has anyone noticed this addition at Pop?

Note, it is not a 'free offer' to all but rather will now support guests who already subscribe to Disney+, the ability to sign into their Disney+ account while at Pop. Has anyone noticed this option on the TVs at Pop?

If/when this does happen, you may wish to add your login information to your Disney packing list. :)

We returned from pop this past Tuesday and I didn’t notice d+ on the TVs. I’ll check with the kiddos tomorrow.

@scrappinginontario

I just remembered I wanted to thank you for keeping this thread going and the information. During my stay I had a need to call the front desk with a resort related issue. Phoned guest services first and she was extremely unhelpful and rather rude. Remembered the resort number is in this thread on the first page and was able to inform the right people of the problem so it could be cleaned right away so other people didn’t have to walk by it.
We had an issue whereby the room was poorly cleaned when we checked in. Called the front desk and they sent someone around. Housekeeping also called and apologized and told us they would clean our room each day of our 10 day trip. 👍

Mine was more, someone had an 'Epcot' accident on one of the paths leading out of building 6. Side to side coverage and it looked like an ECV had already rolled through it. Not something 'guest relations' somewhere miles upon miles away could really handle.

I do find it amusing that guest relations treat the resort phone numbers like national secrets when my interactions with CM at resorts have all said if there is a problem, use the resort number or come down to the front desk.

Does anyone know of yet what the refurb is going to be? Booked a stay next year but reluctant to change even though I noticed they are doing a room refurb

The next refurb is Mar 2025 - Feb 2026. It is soft goods so is anticipated to be things like towels, bedding, mattresses, painting, general room maintenance, etc. I’m guessing they may close down blocks of rooms at a time to complete the maintenance, similar to how they did the major room refurbishments in 2017 and 2018. Maintenance will take place during daytime hours to cause as little inconvenience as possible.

We visited twice during the major refurbishment and did not find it affected our trip at all. Not anticipating this one will either other than there will be less room availability which will make Pop more challenging to book.

We will keep this thread updated during the refurbishments and if needed, will create a separate thread purely to track and discuss the refurbishments.

Protein spill is pretty delicate. And makes more sense than a themepark accident. :D

Did not know that phrasing when I was trying to be delicate. Just figured that enough people here think there is a 'protein spill' in every bush around World Showcase that people would generally pick up what I was laying down.

That’s very helpful, thank you!

I will also back it up. I stayed 2 or 3 times during the renos. One they were working on 90's and I was in 50's. Once they were working on 70's when I was in 70's. The time I am unsure of is because I just don't remember if the work had started yet but I was in the 70's. Never noticed other then the workers in their hi-vis vests and equipment.

And, when I was there in early December there was work being done on a couple of rooms on my wing, on my floor. Saw that work was being done, but never heard or was bothered by it.

A little disappointed this trip with POP. We had an ECV this trip and found getting in and out of food court area very difficult unless we were together. Entering and leaving through the gift shop area was really difficult several times due to people blocking the very narrow entrance to the food court. If you’re inside food court and want to leave via one of the inside doors it can be difficult to reach the button to activate the door while seated on ECV. Also, we were in food court on Thursday. 12/12 at 1:50 pm standing in front of counter wanting to buy the chicken tenders…there were 2 women ahead of me the first woman had ordered. There were 5 people “moving around ” behind that counter and only the one guest had been able to order. At 2:00 pm we were still waiting to order and no one had even greeted us or acknowledged we were standing there at all. The woman who had ordered at 1:50 was still waiting. Meanwhile there were some people behind the counter who appeared to be preparing mobile orders…(I think). I could see stacks of paper plates on the counter but when I was finally allowed to order it was 2:09 pm. Way too long to be waiting with only 2 people in front of me. The woman directly in front of me just ordered fries! When I ordered the chicken tenders the server reached past the paper plates for a small cardboard box and dumped in fries and piled tenders right on top. I don’t see why they can’t at least use paper plates instead of the box especially when it’s not a carry out but you are going to sit at a table….service and quality has not changed since Covid ended.

On Wed. 12/11 we had gotten off Skyliner and walked over to the food court at AOA. There was a line to order but we were immediately greeted and told “be right with you”. Our fries and chicken tenders were served within 5 minutes on a real plate by friendly servers. There were only 2 servers behind the counter.

Housekeeping was also disappointing this trip. I had called house keeping and requested service in the mornings since my Mom is 92 and really wanted to be able to rest before dinner. We were gone each day by 8:30 am and returning between 3:30 to 4:30. Housekeeping came knocking on door 4:30 one day and 5:00 the next. My mother was resting the first time so I again requested that they come earlier. The housekeeper asked if she she could return later. I told her we would be leaving for dinner at 5:30. She never came back. The next time house keeper showed up at 5 as we’re getting ready for dinner.
The final time we returned from park at 4:30 and housekeeper was in room and said she would be right out we stood outside door waiting for almost 15 min. I understand that they obviously want to clean rooms where people are checking out first but it was really annoying how they ignored my request for an early cleaning the whole time we were there, however; on our last day house keeper was banging on door at 8:30 am wanting to know when we were leaving.

That’s a number of disappointing experiences for sure. Did you go to the front desk to share your first couple of negative experiences? I’m sure mgmt would want to know to have an opportunity to make things better for you.

Moving about during renovations can be especially challenging but the wait for ordering food and late cleaning after more than one request are things they could have changed.

Yes. I did go to front desk to pay my balance with gift cards before checkout and I told them about the issues we were having and there was an apology and assurance that housekeeping manager would be told. Ironically I was even offered a late check out. There was also an apology for the food service but I was just told to let them know if that happened again….we didn’t bother to go back to Pop food court.
CM did say he would let some one know about difficulty accessing food court with ECV.🤷🏻‍♀️
I will say our experiences with the Skyliner and food court at AOA were great. Next trip is March 5-12 and I’m considering moving to different resort just hesitant because we really like having the Skyliner it’s so much easier with an ECV than the busses.
