Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

It turned out to be some kind of a mechanical issue and the room they were preparing for me was taken out of service. To apologize for the inconvenience and for making me wait so long, they ended up moving me over to POR at no extra cost!
Thanks for updating. Sorry this happened to you and glad they made it right. Hope you enjoy your time at POR!!

Glad it worked out for you in the end. The same thing happened to me once at a different resort. The room assigned to me was taken out of service, but they forgot to inform the front desk. By the time they figured it all out, there were no more rooms left.
This is exactly what happened to me too!
Hope you are happy with the switch. They were offering a lot of people free moves over to POR during Marathon Weekend. Bookings over there must be soft.
Very happy! This resort is absolutely stunning. 🤩

I am! Thank you. ☺️

Yay!!! Thanks so much for the update! I will update post 1.

@Jasper&Bowie, do you know if all the food stations and seating are now open or, is there still one station and some of the seating being refurbished?
I was just there and the food station on the far left is still walled up but all seating areas are open.

Well @WEDWDW when I was there last October I had a nice conversation with the GM and he at that point wasn't sure. I mentioned a dole whip machine would be nice again I do miss that there at Pop. I am still surprised that food court section still isn't finished. When I was there late October there was only that section and one seating section left to complete. 🤔🙄 He also mentioned in that conversation that there wasn't going to be a January skyliner closure which turned out to be true it seems. I never posted that because it wasn't official from Disney

My understanding is that all of the seating in the food court has re-opened. It's just the one yet-to-be-identified food station that is behind walls. Will be fun to find out what it is once opened!

Yes,very suprising.

Makes me think maybe it is something that hasn't been in the Food Court before and maybe they are waiting on some new equipment of some sort.

A Dole Whip Sation would be nice!

And I would love if they would bring back the Frozen Cokes as well!

Isn't it a coffee bar type deal? We are talking about where the ice cream use to be right?

That is the location but an official announcement has not been made so until it opens, we don't really know.

It's been closed for months now so hard to tell if it will be similar to before or completely different. It's weird that this one area is taking longer than the rest did.

Yes @scrappinginontario I did see all the seating is finally complete. So glad about that. Can't wait to check it out in person this year. It will be so nice to enjoy the food court without all the construction noise I encountered in October. But it's all worth it now 🤗

Yea 100% that is going to be the ice cream/coffee/snack/sweet treat deal. Same concept as just opened at All-Star Movies. Also pretty sure opening is sometime late March-April.

It was our first time at Pop Century (we usually stay deluxe) and we loved it. Location was great, vibes were great. Skyliner was obviously a big plus, and buses were super frequent. For the money, we will need to seriously consider bothering with deluxe at all next time given the value at Pop. Walls were a little thin - but otherwise an excellent stay.
We always read "once you go deluxe you cannot go back" Hogwash! Once POP added the queen murphy bed and then the skyliner, we have not stayed at a deluxe since. Every time we plan a trip my DW and I keep going back to "we have just as much fun at POP and save so much $$" BTW, we do not just use a resort to sleep and shower either, we do have "Resort days" and spend time at our resorts and it still does not change our opinion. I will say that we will have to splurge one trip to stay at GF again, our favorite deluxe:) If we want a change of pace, we love the theme's at the 2 PO resorts.

Well said!lol

Some people just cannot comprehend why anyone would PREFER to stay at Pop Century over a Deluxe.

But it is a fact that some of us do. :)

We just prefer "Over the top Disney" that the Deluxes don't provide.

Different strokes.:)

Well @DizneyFamof4 and @WEDWDW I totally agree with both of you on your posts. I thought I was the only one who felt this way. And I want to add it's very possible to do a no parks Disney trip at Pop Century and have a great time. My husband and I do it every year. My husband is not a big Disney fan like me but does enjoy staying at Pop and resort hopping and the skyliner makes it so much easier. I get to stay at Pop my favorite resort and get my Disney fix. It's a win win for me. I really enjoyed reading both of your like minded posts. Thanks 👍

I didn’t book a trip the end of Jan as I was afraid the Skyliner would closed for maintenance. Now I’m worried about when they will close the Skyliner for the maintenance as I’ve booked stays at POP for March and May.
