Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Just got back from a week's stay over Thanksgiving. Pop was wonderful. I didn't have any problems with housekeeping. The remodeled food court was lovely (although Wednesday night the line for the pizza/pasta station was all the way back to the coolers at 6:45). I'm happy to answer any questions if anyone has any.

To some of the previous posts - line for the Skyliner: If being at the front for rope drop is important, get out there early. We went to get in line for it at 7:45 on Tuesday to head to Studios, the line was all the way back to the 50's building. It did move quickly and I actually scanned into Studios at 8:31 but I was no where close to the front of anything. Also - room requests - if you have a Touring Plans subscription, they put in room requests for you. I used it for this trip and my previous trip. I didn't get the EXACT room I requested, but each time it was the correct building, floor, and area - just usually a couple of doors down one way or the other.

Actually I have a question, On the WDW website it says that there is construction happening at the Coffee Shop at the food court. I have never seen coffee shop there before. Is this a new edition or what?

Total guess on my part but I suspect this isn't written correctly. I bet it's supposed to read "The gift shop in the Everything POP Food Court is undergoing refurbishment through April 2025."

I thought the same thing.

Umm...coffee shop??? Never seen one. But the gift shop IS under construction. Half of it is blocked off with pipe and drape. In fact, while I was there, they switched sides which totally confused me one day.

Where are you seeing 'Coffee Shop'? I have looked at various places on the Pop website and can't see it.

When you click "See Details" for the refurbishment message, it's in this pop-up:

Ahhh, that's the difference. The message is different on the Canadian website.

That's why I couldn't find it.

When I change my location to the US version of the website I can see the 'coffee shop' message.

I emailed Disney to advise of this error on their website as well as reported it via chat so hopefully it will get corrected. I've had great success with this approach in the past.

I want to have some water and fruit delivered or I’ll pick up. What would be closest Publix or would a Kroger order be better?

Update re: 'Coffee Shop' message.

I have been in communication with Disney and received some clarification about the messaging on their website.

'Coffee Shop' is a term I'll say they're using loosely. Basically it is referring to a few specialty coffees that will be available at Pop once the renovations are complete. Art of Animation already offers these and they can be viewed on their menu. The specialty coffees will be located at the section of the food stations that I believe is still closed. We formerly knew this area as the Ice Cream area. Will ice cream return, that has yet to be announced.

So, no new 'Coffee Shop' coming but there will be a few specialty coffees available when the food court is fully re-opened.

Hope this helps clarify things.

Isn’t the part of the food court that is still under construction where the ice cream station etc was? Maybe they are going to put in an espresso bar and you can get them there fancy Starbucks style drinks when it reopens.

@scrappinginontario

I just remembered I wanted to thank you for keeping this thread going and the information. During my stay I had a need to call the front desk with a resort related issue. Phoned guest services first and she was extremely unhelpful and rather rude. Remembered the resort number is in this thread on the first page and was able to inform the right people of the problem so it could be cleaned right away so other people didn’t have to walk by it.

Dang. I had a nice surprise there once when I got a chocolate shake (a real one--not the soft serve kind that I was recently served at Beaches & Cream). Wasn't expecting anything much and it was good.

I miss the Cookies and Cream shakes they used to make at Pop Century! I'll always choose an ice cream shop over a coffee shop.

We don't know yet if the Ice Cream shop will be coming back. That area will serve specialty coffees but they may sell ice cream too. Waiting to see. To me it seems like a pretty big area to only sell a few specialty coffees so I'm holding out hope that ice cream will return too!

Just returned from a 6 night stay with a friend. We had a great experience with our Pop Century stay. We were assigned Room 6141, just around the corner from my Touring Plans request of 6134. It's a great location -- not far from Classic Hall and the Sky Liner. Housekeeping came as promised twice during our stay. On arrival, I called to request blankets and a fan and those were delivered in about 7 minutes! I was happily surprised. (Fan for the white noise and circulation; blankets because the blanket on the Murphy bed is really thin.). Housekeeping was very good.

I like how the food court area and seating have been redone. It will be great when the store part is finished and we can see and use the whole area in its updated format. Right now there are still areas draped off and the store is really tiny (compared to what it was).

Transportation -- both buses and sky liner -- were terrific. Rarely waited for more than a few minutes; longest wait was 11 minutes at Disney Springs. As a side note, we went to the Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house and then went to Disney Springs for a dinner reservation. The bus stop and monorail station at GF are terrible: no organization, only one bus to be filled at a time, lots of unhappy people. Disney transportation and logistics needs to address this. They know lots of visitors want to see the gingerbread so this should be anticipated.

I had a great return visit to PC and I was happy to introduce my friend to WDW resorts by this stay. I can try to answer questions if anyone cares to ask.

When are the rest of the food court and gift shop renovations going to be complete?
