Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Let’s try this again - see post 3,047 on page 153 of this thread.

Any guesses on when the refurbishment dates will be announced? From what I gathered, in years past the Skyliner refurbishment was announced around this time (or even earlier in the year)?

Until announced, I would anticipate the dates being very similar to years past. They are published on page one of this post.

I just kept going to AoA for any food court needs. Did not ever feel like dealing with that mess. Where my room was it was pretty much just as easy to walk to AoA.
Great idea - Thanks! I had already planned to go over there for food items in the store that they do not carry at Pop so getting food there too will be fine.

😊 As quickly as I take a pic of the refurbishment, it changes!

Green plastic bags along the roof were down for the weekend and before I could post that pic, it was replaced with white plastic this morning!

Back on Saturday from 8 days at Pop. Outside of the food court, this was the best stay we have ever had there. The CMs could not have been better, rooms and grounds were spotless, and we never waited for a skyliner, even at park open.

We went over to Riviera and CBR a few times for their food, and AoA a handful of times. But the Pop Court, though ugly, was efficient with mobile ordering and refiling of mugs. I only ran into one day out of ice/bee issues.

It was a wonderful jump back into WDW - has been almost 5 years since our last trip and it got me to fall in love with the place again!

We were in building 10, 3rd floor, facing the 80s-ish. Nice and quiet.

Far Out-Pop Century Resort just screams FUN!

Everything about it makes Guests feel so GROOVY!!!!

Does it look like they are going to update the seating area also?
There is no indication of this at this time except possibly the small section closest to the 70’s section of the resort. That section is behind the construction walls. It might be blocked off only because of location or, may be being updated. Time will tell.

Also no indication if we will continue to have soda fountain machines or move to Coke freestyle machines. CMs do not seem to have been updated on what the refurbishment will include.

Has there always been a 24 hour soda fountain near Pedal's? It's been a while, but I don't remember seeing it.

Got back last Saturday from another visit to Pop Century. We were staying on a bounceback offer in a standard room. I had requested 50s or 60s but instead, we were placed in building 8. We were about as far away from everything as you possibly can be. We arrived late on Monday, after our original flight was canceled 8 hours before departure (had to switch airports but got to Disney the same day as originally planned). I asked about moving but they were booked solid. I could have stopped by the front desk the next day to see about switching but I didn't want to have to pack/unpack again. We figured out how to cut through buildings to shorten travel time. Never heard our neighbors. I wish that the fan bathroom came on sooner (I don't need to hear my family members destroying the toilet).

Overall, it was a good trip. We used the next LL system for 2 of our 3 park days. I dragged my family to all 4 parks in one day! You know they really love me. We left the room at 645am and went to AK, then HS, Epcot and ended in MK. Returned to the room at 615pm. Rode 2 or 3 rides in each park - the next LL system was very helpful for us to achieve this. Went to Typhoon Lagoon, were we rented an umbrella and chairs. Finally, we attended the 8/23 MNSSHP, where it poured and poured most of the night.

Booked another bounceback offer for next year. My son wanted AoA but it wasn't available during our dates so we will return to Pop Century, this time in a preferred room.

last trip we were on 4th floor of that building back side second from last room at the far end of it. It was a rainstorm when we went to our room and I just decided to deal with it since cutting through the parking lot was helpful. It was a hike from everything though. I will say we never heard a peep from anyone when we were in our room. We are supposed to have bounceback at Pop in March of next year but that could change depending on any deals we get. We just had a stay at Riverside stay and are doing a night at Coronado and a week in December at French Quarter. It has been nice to do the moderates for a bit.

Just got back yesterday. We were in 50s area, 4th floor. We had TERRIBLE neighbors. By the 2nd night of these partying girls keeping us up at 2AM, I had to call front desk to have them quieted down. We were ecstatic when, on our 3rd night, we had a crying baby with our new neighbors, because it was easier to take! Overall, I love the room though! The storage space and layout work so well for my family of 4, even with 2 tall teenage boys. The food court area was perfectly manageable with the construction and I kinda like the mobile order system. Less lines to wait in is great when you've been in lines all day at the parks!

Staying at POP really does feel like coming home!

Speaking of loud neighbors, what have general experiences been with respect to which floor you've been assigned at PC? I think I've been on all 4 floors at different times and I tend to prefer the 4th floor because those rooms seem quieter to me -- fewer people walking by talking loudly and less likely to have stomping feet above your room. I'll be traveling with a friend in December and I think she won't want to deal with stairs (I know there are elevators, but ...). I know you can get bad neighbors on any floor (as @andrniki experienced on the 4th floor), but for those of you who have been a lot, do you think a particular floor makes a difference for noise?

Thanks for your thoughts and experiences.

We have stayed at Pop 30+ times, in a variety of buildings, floors and room locations. I honestly feel noise has to do most with the type of people in adjoining rooms rather than location.

We just spent 10 nights at Pop and our room had a connecting door. The neighbours we had at first were loud. The kids were fine - the mom as a ‘yeller’ and yelled constantly, late into the night. After the second night I folded a towel from the pool and placed it on the floor between the doors and didn’t hear anything else. I was sad when it hit me it was quiet because they had left and I now had peace but those poor kids were still being yelled at wherever they were now. :(

For the remainder of the time we didn’t hear anything else from the rooms around us or above us. We also rarely heard people walking by and we were the second room from the elevator in our hallway.

I think it really depends on how noise sensitive you are. We’re both good sleepers which likely makes a difference.

For those new to the Pop thread, I wanted to share a separate thread called,
